Daniel Craig and Wife Rachel Weisz Cozy Up at “Wake Up Dead Man ”London Premiere

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz enjoyed a rare date night in London. Craig, 57, and Weisz, 55, attended the premiere of Craig's Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the BFI London Film Festival. The pair first met in 1994 when they were cast in a production of Les Grandes Horizontales at London's National Theatre Studio. They began dating when they starred in the 2011 movie Dream House, in which they portrayed a married couple. The pair got married in a secret wedding ceremony held in New York in June 2011. In 2018, they welcomed daughter Grace, now 7. Craig also shares daughter Ella, 33, with ex-wife Fiona Loudon, and Weisz has son Henry, 19, with ex-husband Darren Aronofsky. Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Weisz and Craig are typically private about their relationship and family life together. The former James Bond star told The New York Times in a 2024 interview that he tries to be more choosy with his acting roles these days in order to spend more time with his family. "I've got a 6-year-old at home," he said at the time. "And I don't want to be away from home as much as I have in the past." Craig stars as detective Benoit Blanc in the Knives Out murder-mystery movies, which are written and directed by Rian Johnson. Wake Up Dead Man sees Craig alongside an ensemble cast that includes Glenn Close, Cailee Spaeny, Kerry Washington, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Josh O'Connor and Andrew Scott for the franchise's third movie. A trailer sees Craig's Blanc describe the mysterious murder of a Catholic priest (Brolin, 57) in the middle of a mass as "the impossible crime." Wake Up Dead Man made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival Sept. 6. The movie is in select theaters Nov. 26, then streaming on Netflix Dec. 12.

"The beaches will dry before the Helldivers do": Helldivers 2 players made Seyshel Beach the new Malevelon Creek, complete with propaganda and a stunned response from Arrowhead

Every time the Helldivers 2 community gets stuck on a difficult planet, some Hellboomer will reckon it reminds them of Malevelon Creek, a famously unnecessary battle so protracted that developer Arrowhead ended up canonizing it after millions upon millions of democratic soldiers were voluntarily put through the Automaton food processor. But with their latest Creek successor, I think Helldivers 2 players actually have a good point: Seyshel Beach is maybe the closest we've gotten all year. It even has propaganda. At various points in the past few weeks, and to varying extremes, thousands and even tens of thousands of Helldivers 2 players have dogpiled Seyshel Beach, a frontline planet in the Illuminate front. Why? I truly, from the pit of my gut, do not know. Maybe they wanted some beachfront property. This, I think, is the key ingredient that too many would-be Creek doppelgangers have missed: sheer, bloody-minded stubbornness. Malevelon Creek was a logistical disaster born of herd mentality, overpowered robots, aggressive propaganda, and senseless aggression, like sheep chasing each other off a cliff. It was extremely difficult, completely pointless, and painfully slow as liberations go. It also actively derailed adjacent Major Orders by siphoning off troops. Sir, I’m Finishing this Fight. from r/Helldivers Stop me if this sounds familiar. Seyshel Beach has not come up in any recent Major Orders – at least, not as an objective. But in September, High Command did acknowledge the efforts of "a small but fervent cohort of Helldivers" who had reclaimed one of the Beach's cities, New Alexandria. (Maybe they were hoping there'd be a sweet library there.) "While the city itself bears no particular strategic significance, the single-minded focus of these Helldivers is nevertheless an inspiration to all," the report read. This report came at the tail end of Operation Gloom Tide, which tasked Helldivers with defending Hellmire for the millionth time this year and retaking Terminid planets like Gacrux while carving out territory in the Gloom. That is to say, on another side of the solar system far from the Illuminate and the very dedicated Beachers. The Beachers didn't let orders deter them, though. Sure, a new Major Order targeting a different planet deeper in the Illuminate front has now seen Beacher counts decline sharply, according to the Helldivers companion app map, but thousands are still at it. The Beach is 84.3401% liberated at the time of writing, and thousands of Beachers are hungry for that final 16.66%. "We have been fighting on this planet for at least 21+ days and it’s just going back [and] forth like the Creek but concrete," Reddit user A7THU3 observed on October 6. "One day the beach will be free," user TDKswipe wrote on October 1 as a previous Major Order tried to pull Beachers away. "The beaches will dry before the Helldivers do!" reads a poster shared by Redditor RazzDaNinja, who insists, "Sir, I'm finishing this fight." To recap: we've got Beach propaganda, Major Order defiance, strategically inconsequential territory, and official acknowledgement from Arrowhead that this player-coordinated strategy is happening. For once, I think you could actually argue that we have a new Malevelon Creek on our hands.

The hidden danger in button batteries - and the one brand that got it right

Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. ZDNET's key takeaways Lithium button cells can cause severe injury or death if swallowed. Many makers coat their batteries in a bitter substance to discourage ingestion.Energizer has now added a marker dye to make it easier to spot ingestion. Lithium button cell (sometimes called coin cell) batteries are everywhere, from car key fobs to AirTags. And while they seem innocent enough, if ingested, they can cause severe injury from esophageal or airway damage in less than two hours, which can, in the worst cases, result in death. Each year in the US alone, some 3,500 button cells are swallowed, mostly by children. I've encountered one such injury myself, and seen a number of examples in first aid training materials, and it is no joke. Making button cells safer requires two things: preventing accidental ingestion and being able to spot if a button cell has been ingested. Also: The best rechargeable batteries you can buy For a few years now, several button cell manufacturers have been coating their batteries in Bitrex, a harmless chemical compound that's the most bitter substance known. A thimbleful in an Olympic-sized swimming pool can make all the water bitter. This substance is added to a wide array of products to prevent ingestion, from bleach and antifreeze to Nintendo game cards. And let me tell you, this stuff is awful (if you don't believe me, you can actually request a free taste test kit from the maker). Another step that manufacturers have taken is to make the packaging hard to open without using scissors. This makes it much harder for adults and children alike to access new batteries. Battery maker Energizer has taken things a step further with its Color Alert line. In addition to hard-to-open packaging and a liberal application of Bitrex, a patch of dye has been applied to the battery to make it more obvious if it has been in someone's mouth. The Color Alert line covers common button cell sizes such as CR2032, CR2025, and CR2016. The food-grade dye is applied in dots to the back of the battery. It doesn't look like much, but it's more than enough! Once this comes into contact with water or saliva, it dissolves and spreads rapidly, going everywhere. The bright blue really shows up against skin, especially in the mouth and on the tongue. The dye stains skin for many hours (in my tests, it stayed on my skin for many hours, resisting several attempts to wash it off), and can alert caregivers to the fact that a button cell may have been ingested. Oh yes, and don't forget about the Bitrex in the dye. I taste-tested it and regretted it! If you suspect that a button cell has been ingested, go immediately to the emergency room. If you are unsure, call Poison Control immediately on 1-800-222-1222. The dye and Bitrex coating seem to have no effect on the usability of the batteries. There was an issue with some Duracell cells being problematic in some devices -- notably AirTags -- but I've not had any similar issues with the Energizer cells. These are the safest button cells I've used, and as such, I recommend that you buy only them. They keep you safe (not that most of my readers are going to eat batteries), keep children and vulnerable people around you safe, and also help to keep pets safe (yeah, some of them will eat coin cells, too). I've had no problem with Energizer batteries -- I also use the lithium AA and AAA batteries where I need long life or resistance to cold temperatures -- and prices are reasonable. A six-pack of CR2032, the most commonly used size, and the one that fits into AirTags, is only $7.

Think tank founder faces scrutiny over China corporate ties despite decoupling advocacy

Oren Cass, founder of the Washington-based think tank American Compass, has built a reputation as one of the right’s most outspoken advocates for economic nationalism and "strategic decoupling" from Beijing. Yet recent details about the group’s corporate partnerships and staff affiliations raise questions about consistency between its rhetoric and its operations. In essays and media appearances, Cass has argued that the United States must take a tougher stance toward China and prioritize domestic manufacturing and independence from Chinese supply chains. In a 2023 Foreign Affairs essay, Cass and a colleague warned that the U.S. "must break from China or else become irrevocably corrupted by it," arguing that economic interdependence had already "weakened America’s industrial base and constrained its political will." MAJOR COLLEGES FACE HEAT OVER CHINESE SCHOLARSHIP TIES AS ESPIONAGE CONCERNS MOUNT In the same essay, Cass and his co-author argued that China’s influence extended deep into U.S. research and policy institutions. "China has long targeted U.S. universities, think tanks and research institutes to extract economic gain and advance its own ideological agenda," they wrote, adding that such organizations "must accept processes and controls designed to ensure the integrity and security of their work." They went further, calling for legal restrictions. "U.S. law should be changed to prohibit these institutions from entering into any partnerships with China-based and affiliated entities. Any funding flowing from one nation's institutions to the other's must be stopped." Lawmakers from both parties have long raised concerns that the Chinese government exploits educational exchanges, research partnerships and business investments in the U.S. as cover for espionage activities. These warnings have intensified in recent years amid growing scrutiny of Beijing’s influence operations on U.S. soil. On July 28, 2025, Cass joined a group of policymakers and national security experts in a letter to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick expressing "deep concern" over the decision to resume exports of Nvidia’s H20 chips to China. The group warned that the Trump administration’s move "represents a strategic misstep that endangers the United States’ economic and military edge in artificial intelligence." He reiterated his stance during a conversation on Steve Bannon’s "War Room" podcast where he argued against lifting export restrictions on advanced computer chips bound for China. CHINA'S MALIGN INFLUENCE TOUCHES EVERY ASPECT OF US LIFE. WE ALL NEED TO HELP STOP THEM And yet, Cass’s uncompromising rhetoric on China appears at odds with the realities of operating a Washington think tank in a globalized economy. In June 2025, American Compass hosted a lavish fifth-anniversary gala at Washington’s National Building Museum, an event underwritten in part by Qualcomm, BlackRock, and Google — companies whose global operations remain deeply intertwined with China’s economy. China is the world’s second-largest economy and a key trading partner for U.S. companies, making such financial entanglements common across Washington’s policy landscape. Fox News Digital reached out to Qualcomm, BlackRock and Google for comment; none responded before publication. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP What's more, American Compass’s staffing and advisory relationships have also prompted questions. The organization’s director of events and operations previously worked for Alibaba Group, one of China’s largest tech companies. Additionally, an economist on the group’s advisory board is also a professor at Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management, a leading business institution with close ties to China's Communist Party. Cass and American Compass did not return multiple requests for comment from Fox News Digital. While none of these associations are illegal or unusual in Washington, they complicate Cass’ image as a champion of economic separation from China and highlight the difficulty of pursuing that ideal while relying on corporate sponsors.

Trump teases trip to the Middle East as Gaza peace deal talks continue

President Donald Trump said Wednesday he might make a trip to the Middle East as Gaza peace negotiations continue. "I may go there, sometime toward the end of the week. Maybe on Sunday, actually, and we'll see," Trump said Wednesday from the White House as he kicked off a roundtable discussion event focused on the left-wing radical group Antifa. "We have a great team over there, great negotiators, and there are, unfortunately, great negotiators on the other side also," Trump added. "But it's something I think that will happen. Got a good chance of happening." U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are currently in Egypt hashing out details of a potential peace agreement between Israel and Hamas in a war that has raged since Oct. 7, 2023. TRUMP SAYS 'REAL CHANCE FOR GREATNESS' AS NETANYAHU WHITE HOUSE MEETING LOOMS FOR GAZA TALKS Trump signaled Wednesday that negotiations are going well. "I was just dealing with people from the Middle East, our people and other people, on the potential peace deal for the Middle East," he said. "Peace for the Middle East. That's a beautiful phrase, and we hope it's going to come true, but it's very close and they're doing very well." Trump unveiled a 20-point plan to end the Gaza war on Sept. 29, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was visiting the White House. The plan includes granting Hamas terrorists who give up their arms in favor of peace "amnesty," establishing Gaza as a "deradicalized terror-free zone" and redeveloping the area so that it no longer poses a threat to its neighbors or residents alike. TRUMP'S PEACE DEAL COULD END THE WAR IN GAZA OR NETANYAHU'S CAREER Trump warned Hamas that if it did not agree to the peace deal, the terrorists would face "massive bloodshed." Hamas announced Friday that it agreed to release all Israeli hostages, dead or alive, as part of Trump's peace proposal. Israeli and Hamas officials convened Monday in the Egyptian coastal resort city of Sharm El Sheikh, located at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. Kushner, Trump's son-in-law who is credited with helping facilitate the Abraham Accords during the first Trump administration, and Witkoff are in Egypt as of Wednesday to help negotiate an agreement. ISRAEL, HAMAS MEET IN EGYPT TO REVIVE TRUMP PEACE PLAN AHEAD OF OCT. 7 ANNIVERSARY An Israeli diplomatic source told Fox News' Jennifer Griffin that the negotiations are coming down to a shortlist of names for prisoners and how the withdrawal corridors will be managed. The source added that the Israeli cabinet is convening to vote on next steps, which signals the negotiations are moving along. A U.S. official source added that negotiations on Gaza are "down to a couple of points," and that progress is being made in Sharm El Sheikh. Mediators ended talks with the Palestinian delegation and are moving to speak with the Israeli negotiators as of Wednesday afternoon. Trump added Wednesday that "negotiations are going along very well." "We're dealing with Hamas and many of the countries… all of the Muslim countries are included," he said. "All of the Arab countries are included, very rich countries and some that are not so rich, but just about everybody is included. It's never happened before. Nothing like that's happened before in our final negotiation, as you know, is with Hamas. And, it seems to be going well." CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP Trump said he would leave Saturday or Sunday if he does make a trip to the Middle East over the weekend.

Below are the six foods she recommends, all backed by scientific studies and linked to reduced cancer risk.1. PomegranatePomegranates are rich in ellagitannins, compounds known to stop cancer cells from multiplying and reduce estrogen-driven growth. Mahajan advised, “Best eaten fresh, 1 cup of fresh pomegranate daily; they reduce the cancer cells from multiplying.”2. Cruciferous vegetablesBroccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage are loaded with sulforaphane, a natural compound that helps the liver detox harmful estrogen by-products and blocks tumor growth. “Eat them lightly cooked or raw. Eat cruciferous vegetables at least 3-4 times a week,” Mahajan recommended.ALSO READ: Here are the lyrics of Zach Bryan song that irked Trump and Kristi Noem as Democrats come out in full support3. Soy and dalSoybeans and dal contain isoflavones, plant compounds that act as mild estrogens. They help balance hormone levels that could otherwise fuel breast cancer cell growth. “Consume soybeans and byproducts at least 2-3 times a week, as they have been shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer by 30 percent,” she said.4. Amla or guavaThese vitamin C-rich fruits help combat oxidative stress and repair DNA damage — both key in cancer prevention. “Eat a vitamin C-rich fruit daily because they are high in antioxidants, preventing DNA mutations,” Mahajan said.5. Olive oilOlive oil contains polyphenols that lower inflammation, protect healthy cells, and slow tumor development. “Its polyphenols lower inflammation, protect healthy cells, reduce your risk of cancer, and slow tumour development. Swap it in for cooking or drizzle on salads. Take 1 teaspoon of extra-virgin olive oil daily,” Mahajan suggested.6. FlaxseedsFlaxseeds are rich in lignans, a type of phytoestrogen that helps balance estrogen and slow breast cancer cell growth. Mahajan said, “Just 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed has been shown to significantly reduce breast cancer tumour markers.”Why does prevention start early?Mahajan emphasized that prevention should begin long before symptoms appear. Early inclusion of these nutrient-rich foods, she said, could be a woman’s best defense. “Starting these foods early in life will help prevent your chances of developing this disease,” she reiterated. With breast cancer now the most common cancer among women, nutritionists and health experts continue to stress the importance of lifestyle and dietary habits in reducing risk.Note: This article is for informational purposes only and not a substitute for professional medical advice. This Listing for a Rental House Is Mangled With AI So Badly That You’ll Cackle Out Loud

In the age of generative AI, not all is what it seems. From photorealistic videos of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s head grotesquely poking out of a toilet to AI chatbots that can blaze through a Turing Test without raising suspicion, it’s never been harder to distinguish between reality and a fiction dreamed up by an AI. Still, some instances of AI use still stand out like a sore thumb. Take, for instance, this Zillow listing for a single-family rental home in Detroit, Michigan. A horribly mangled AI rendition shows the two-story building in a far-too-flattering light. As artist DeAnn Wiley quickly sleuthed out, reality — as seen in Google Street View — couldn’t be more different. The AI-yassified version of the house is smoothed over to a ridiculous degree, is missing a concrete footpath, misplaces entire trees, and even features an entirely different roofline — a galling example of real estate and staging companies using AI to lure in customers. “The building structure is completely different,” Wiley argued. “This is crazy,” another user commented. “We live in an era of house catfishing.” Heavily edited images of the house’s interior, which are arguably more important to prospective renters than the house’s curb appeal, don’t fare much better. The images feature nonsensically shaped carpets, among other AI atrocities. “So I’m noticing, as I look at houses to rent, that landlords are using AI to stage the pictures but the AI is also cleaning up the walls, paint, windows, and stuff in the process,” Wiley tweeted, “so when you go look in person, it looks way more worn and torn than the pics would show.” We’ve already come across plenty of other real estate listings with suspiciously rendered images. One listing for a fully renovated 3-bedroom in the UK, as spotted by The Register earlier this year, included awnings that don’t line up and hedges that inexplicably turn into walls. Virtual staging, or digitally filling rooms with virtual furniture after the fact, has been around for quite some time. However, generative AI has taken the trend to an outrageous conclusion, prompting a heated discussion about whether landlords and real estate agents are misleading the public and potentially even committing fraud. Despite catfishing prospective renters and buyers with misleading pictures, the trend has spawned an entire cottage industry of companies capitalizing on services aimed at landlords and sellers. One company, called Interior AI, offers a service that can transform pictures of interior spaces “completely.” “Instantly redesign, furnish, reimagine any home interior, exterior or garden,” the company’s website reads. In most cases, owners and managers are the ones who benefit from using AI in their listings. Renters, already frustrated with an often highly competitive market, are the ones missing out. At best, prospective buyers could be tricked into wasting their time by realizing too late that they were hoodwinked by an overly imaginative AI while touring the property. At worst, renters who signed a lease sight unseen could be in for a rude awakening. More on AI listings: Realtors Are Using AI Images of Homes They’re Selling. Why Investors Were Fired up About Cleveland-Cliffs Stock Today

Market players are eager to lend Cleveland-Cliffs (CLF 8.63%) money, so much so that a planned debt issue was quickly and substantially upsized. That impressed the market enough to send the company's equity skyward, and in late-session action the large steel maker's stock was up by 9% in price. That performance was notably hotter than that of the S&P 500 index, which was rising by 0.6%. A bigger issue Tuesday morning before market open, Cleveland-Cliffs announced that it would float a fresh issue of senior unsecured guaranteed notes (a type of corporate bond). Then, very shortly after market close that day, it announced it had upsized the issue by nearly 40%. In the initial announcement, Cleveland-Cliffs said the flotation would consist of $200 million aggregate principal amount of such notes maturing in 2034. This was to be an extension of a previous issue of such securities and would pay the same interest rate of just under 7.63%. In the follow-up to the announcement, Cleveland-Cliffs said it was boosting the aggregate principal amount to $275 million. These are to be issued at a price of almost 102.8% of their principal amount, to land at an implied yield of slightly below 7% for investors. The company said it will use its proceeds from the issue to retire debt incurred under an asset-based lending facility. Borrowing to grow Owning, running, and maintaining a huge steel making operation is a vastly expensive undertaking, so debt financing is typically necessary in the industry. That, plus the fact that Cleveland-Cliffs loaded up on it significantly with its 2024 acquisition of Canadian peer Stelco has pushed its total long-term debt past $7.7 billion (as of the end of June). The new flotation will be just a drop in that bucket, yet it shows that investors have confidence in the company to satisfy such financial obligations.

Hiker hides from moose in 'scary' encounter within Glacier National Park

GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, Mont.– A hiker captured the moment he nearly came face-to-face with a moose in Glacier National Park. Nolan Lotulelei was filming while hiking in the Montana national park on Sept. 28, when he encountered the large bull moose. He quickly hid behind a tree to let the moose pass by, he told Storyful. In the video, Lotulelei attempted to control his breathing, trying to stay quiet as the moose came into view. The moose could be seen in the background, slowly approaching the tree with leaves crunching underfoot. CHUNKY CHAMPION OF FAT BEAR WEEK 2025 CROWNED IN ALASKA As the moose walked past Lotulelei, it stopped somewhere in front of the tree he was hiding behind. Lotulelei remained still and quiet as he waited for the animal to continue walking by. "I did not anticipate how scary it would be," Lotulelei said. After about 15 tense seconds of pausing, the moose began moving again. Lotulelei trained the camera to watch the moose go on. CATS AMONG TOP 5 INVASIVE PESTS IN AMERICA’S NATIONAL PARKS Once the moose was a safe distance away, he ended the video. Lotulelei wrote on TikTok that he was pretty sure the moose looked directly at him as it approached. Moose are commonly seen in Montana and in Glacier National Park. Though not usually aggressive, moose have been known to charge at people when provoked, according to the National Forest Foundation. Moose mating season usually occurs in September and October, and during mating season they can be more aggressive. Galcier National Park Conservancy said when encountering a moose in the park, keep your distance whenever possible.

Country star Alan Jackson plans one final bow in Nashville after health issues force retirement

Alan Jackson is planning one last concert before his official retirement. Jackson revealed he's scheduled one last concert, "Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale," for June 27, 2026. The 66-year-old singer announced in 2024 that he would be retiring from the stage as he battles ongoing health issues. "It's been a long road... and it’s taken me places I never imagined," Jackson told People magazine. "But I can’t think of a better place to put on a big show and give the fans a finale than in Nashville and include so many special friends." "We just felt like we had to end it all where it all started for me, and that’s in Nashville – Music City – where country music lives," he said. ALAN JACKSON RETIRES FROM TOURING AFTER 30 YEARS ON THE ROAD The "Chattahoochee" singer will be joined by other country music stars, including Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Lee Ann Womack, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and more. Jackson's "Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale" will benefit the CMT Research Foundation, which funds research for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. His last tour began in 2022, just a year after he announced his Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease diagnosis. The country music star was diagnosed in 2011. "I don't want them to think I'm drunk on stage because I'm having problems with mobility and balance. I have this neuropathy, neurological disease I inherited from my daddy," he told People magazine at the time. "I've been reluctant to talk about this publicly, but it's been a while, and it's starting to affect my performance on stage a little bit where I don't feel comfortable." Added Jackson, "I just want people to know that's why I look like I do, if they're wondering. I don't want to appear like some whiny celebrity. It's not going to kill me, it's not deadly… It's not fatal – it's just going to disable me eventually." "There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years," he said in 2021. "And it’s getting more and more obvious." The "Livin' on Love" musician said he's been "self-conscious" on stage because it's affected his ability to balance, especially in front of a crowd and in front of the microphone. Thomas Tuchel provides ‘concerning’ Cole Palmer update and sends message to dropped England stars

Chelsea star Cole Palmer has played just one England match under Thomas Tuchel (Picture: Getty) Thomas Tuchel has warned Cole Palmer that the forward’s ‘concerning’ injury problems could damage his chances of securing a place in his England squad should they qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The Three Lions boast a 100 per cent record in Group K, winning all five of their opening qualifying matches, ahead of their trip to fourth-placed Latvia in Riga next Tuesday night. Just two more victories would guarantee England a spot at next year’s tournament, but, first, Tuchel’s men face off against Craig Bellamy’s Wales for what promises to be an intriguing friendly at Wembley. Eyebrows were raised as Tuchel’s unveiled his squad for this month’s double-header, with Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, Manchester City’s Phil Foden and a resurgent Jack Grealish all left out of England’s 24-man party. There was also no place for Palmer, England’s goalscorer in the Euro 2024 final, after what has been a frustrating start to the season for the 23-year-old Chelsea man. Palmer has been managing a groin issue in the early stages of the campaign, which has limited the attacker to a total of just three Premier League appearances this term. And while Palmer was included in Tuchel’s first squad back in March, he has featured just once under the German – when a Harry Kane-inspired England got the better of Andorra. Tuchel has doubts that Palmer can ‘decide matches’ when fully fit (Picture: Getty) Palmer has been dealing with a groin problem this season (Picture: Getty) ‘He was only in the June camp, that’s concerning, of course,’ Tuchel said of Palmer’s fitness problems after confirming that England would also be without their captain, Kane, due to injury. ‘First of all, the most important thing is that he can play without pain because the groin issue is a very dangerous one to become chronic. This is the most important thing. ‘When he’s fit and when he has rhythm and flow, he can decide matches on club level and, for sure, at international level. We know that. ‘There is also with him no problem at all [for me]. We clearly understand and see the potential and the quality, but there is also a reality that he was not available in five of the [last] seven camps, so right now there are two camps left before the World Cup.’ England sit seven points clear of second-placed Albania at the top of Group K (Picture: Getty) There are hopes Palmer could return to full fitness to play a part in Chelsea’s next Premier League match away to Nottingham Forest on October 18. But according to Tuchel, the Manchester City academy graduate – Chelsea’s Player of the Season last term – is a major doubt for the City Ground clash. ‘It would surprise me this time if he was able to play,’ Tuchel added. There was no place for Foden or Bellingham in Tuchel’s latest squad (Picture: Getty) Tuchel brushed off questions surrounding individual selection decisions in his squad and argued that lifting the World Cup fully would be largely on ‘arriving with a strong team’. ‘You need to accept your role and what being the best team-mate is,’ he continued. ‘The only way we can make things happen at the World Cup is if we arrive with a strong team. ‘I watched a documentary with the New England Patriots and there was a quote: “Don’t collect the best players, we make a talented team.”‘ Tuchel’s side take on Wales for a friendly at Wembley on Thursday (Picture: Getty) The former Bayern Munich, Chelsea and PSG manager went on: ‘There will always be discussions. It’s on you to ask the question why. ‘You’re curious and maybe want to find the story behind it. The decisions are for the players in camp, they are not against the players. ‘I know there is always an angle, we just have to make a choice. It’s a good thing we have tough choices to make because we have a huge pool of players and we decided with this camp to stick with the team that had a brilliant camp last time. ‘Now we cannot start with the same starting XI as against Serbia so it’s natural we have changes. The competition is on. ‘I’m not surprised that I am questioned about my decisions, that’s the nature of the job. The feedback after the last match was very positive and all the credit goes to the team.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page. ‘Govt. will face defeat if minority education Bill taken to court’

The Uttarakhand Congress on Wednesday termed the State’s Minority Education Bill, 2025, as “unconstitutional”, accusing the BJP government of “religious polarisation”. It said the Bill has nothing to do with improving the education of minority communities. Suryakant Dhasmana, vice president (organisation) of the Uttarakhand Congress unit, said the Bill is “unconstitutional and a blatant violation of Articles 25 and 26” of the Constitution. He also claimed that if challenged in court, the government will face defeat on this issue. ‘Madrasas the target’ Questioning the new law requiring all educational institutions for minority communities to affiliate with the Uttarakhand Board of School Education, Mr. Dhasmana said these institutions operate only after obtaining a no-objection certificate from the Education Department. “Many schools in the State run by Sikh institutions and Christian missionaries are affiliated with the CBSE, ICSE or international boards… the government’s intention is not to uplift the education of any minority community, but to pursue religious polarisation by targeting madrasas run solely by the Muslim community,” he alleged. Meanwhile, Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, Chairman of the Uttarakhand Madarsa Education Board, called the Bill “a very good step” by the government and said it will provide quality education to children from the Muslim community. The Bill was passed in August during the Assembly’s Monsoon Session held in Gairsain and got Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh (retd.)’s assent on Monday. It will become law after a notification is issued.
