America’s quietest crop is set to take center stage in Trump–Xi talks

As President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping prepare to meet Thursday, one soft-spoken U.S. export star will take center stage: soybeans. The humble crop, a $30 billion pillar of U.S. agriculture exports, has become a powerful symbol of the economic interdependence and political tension between Washington and Beijing. In short, soybeans have come to embody the volatility of the U.S.–China trade war. Beijing halted purchases of American soybeans on the heels of retaliatory tariffs on the crop, responding to Trump’s earlier duties on Chinese goods. China pivoted to suppliers in Brazil and Argentina, a move that underscored how quickly global trade patterns can shift and how vulnerable U.S. farmers are to diplomatic rifts between Washington and Beijing. CHINA TRADE FREEZE SQUEEZES US SOYBEAN FARMERS AS COSTS CLIMB, PROFITS VANISH What began as tit-for-tat posturing between the world’s two largest economies has turned into a symbolic and economic gut punch for Trump’s rural base, whose livelihoods depend on the very trade ties now caught in the crossfire. According to the American Soybean Association, the U.S. has traditionally served as China’s leading soybean source. Prior to the 2018 trade conflict, roughly 28% of U.S. soybean production was exported to China. Those crop exports fell sharply to 11% in 2018 and 2019, recovered to 31% by 2021 amid pandemic-era demand and eased back to 22% in 2024. But some policy experts argue that China’s shift away from U.S. soybeans was already underway. BEIJING IS QUIETLY DICTATING THE TRADE WAR’S NEXT MOVES AS TRUMP AND XI PREPARE TO MEET "China was always going to reduce its reliance on the United States for food security," Bryan Burack, a senior policy advisor for China and the Indo-Pacific at the Heritage Foundation told Fox News Digital. "China started signing purchase agreements with other countries for soybeans well before President Trump took office," he said, adding that Beijing has "been decoupling from the U.S. for a long time." "Unfortunately, the only way for us to respond is to do the same and that process is painful and excruciating," Burack said. But for farmers thousands of miles from Washington and Beijing, those policy shifts translate into shrinking markets and tighter margins. "We rely on trade with other countries, specifically China, to buy our soybeans," Brad Arnold, a multigenerational soybean farmer in southwestern Missouri, told FOX Business. He said that China's decision to boycott U.S. soybean purchases "has huge impacts on our business and our bottom line." AMERICAN SOYBEAN FARMERS FACE FINANCIAL CRISIS AS CHINA TRADE DISPUTE THREATENS LIVELIHOODS "There are domestic uses for soybeans, looking at renewable diesel, biodiesel specifically produced from soybeans," Arnold said. "In the grand scheme of things, that's such a small percentage currently, you know it's going to take a customer like China to buy beans to make a noticeable impact. You can't take our number one customer, shut them off and just overnight find a replacement." That reliance on China adds new weight to the diplomatic stage this week, as Trump and Xi prepare to meet in South Korea. The two leaders will meet on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Busan, South Korea, marking their first in-person talks since Trump’s return to office. Ahead of the meeting, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he expected China to delay rare earth restrictions and resume U.S. soybean purchases, calling it part of a "substantial framework" both sides aim to maintain. Bessent also said that trade negotiations were moving toward averting a fresh 100% U.S. tariff on Chinese goods. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP And in a possible gesture of easing tensions, Reuters reported that China bought around 180,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans in the run-up to Trump and Xi's meeting. Whether it marks a true thaw in U.S.–China trade relations or just a temporary reprieve, the purchase underscores how deeply intertwined diplomacy and agriculture remain. Arne Slot’s gamble fails miserably as Crystal Palace do the three-peat over Liverpool

It is not a crisis to be eliminated from the Carabao Cup by this excellent Crystal Palace side. Not with 10 changes, including two debutants in the starting 11, three teenagers beginning the game, and a creche on the bench. Not even when it was Arne Slot’s heaviest defeat as Liverpool manager. But for him and them, a second successive Anfield beating nevertheless compounded the wider sense that the wheels have fallen off, suddenly and stunningly. “There are many reasons why we have lost six out of seven,” said Slot. “None are good enough to accept losing so many.” Liverpool have now lost each of their last six games in England. It is the sort of run which would have felt inconceivable when they went to Selhurst Park little more than a month ago, boasting a 100 per cent record in both the Premier and the Champions League. In a rematch, Palace reinforced the sense they are Liverpool’s bogey side, and Ismaila Sarr their bogey player. No wonder their exuberant fans asked if they could play Liverpool every week. Oliver Glasner’s overachievers have now chalked up a hat-trick, overcoming Liverpool in the Community Shield, the Premier League and now the Carabao Cup. “I don't know how often this happens when you play the champions three times within three months, and you win three times,” said the Palace manager. Sarr has scored in each triumph, a four-minute brace taking his tally to four goals against Liverpool this season. They will enter November with the Senegalese winger contributing four times as many goals in their matches as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have between them. Suffice to say, this was not what Liverpool imagined when they committed nine-figure sums to buying each. And if the two record signings were among a host of absentees, if there were reasons to prioritise a week featuring Aston Villa, Real Madrid and Manchester City, Slot gambled and lost. He was nevertheless unrepentant about his rotation. “We had only 15 or 16 players available,” he said. “This felt to me the right decision, and I haven’t changed my opinion on that after the result. It is the same selection I did last year in rounds like this.” But then he stacked the bench with experience, with a trump card in Mohamed Salah. This group of substitutes had only nine previous appearances for Liverpool between them. And as his second-string side followed in the footsteps of their supposed superiors - by losing - the 18-year-old substitute Amara Nallo achieved an ignominious double. His second appearance for Liverpool brought a second red card. His first team career has spanned 16 minutes and he has been sent off twice. As with much else at Liverpool now, the wrong sort of history was made. There was another break from the past. Perhaps it was a compliment to Glasner that, for the first time in his reign, Slot started with a back three. But while that surprised the Austrian, copying his formation does not equate to mastering it like Palace. Slot could change the personnel and the system, but not Liverpool’s habit of going behind. They have now conceded first in seven consecutive matches. Slot had a lone specialist centre-back in that back three and Joe Gomez had an unfortunate role in both goals. The ball bounced off him for Sarr to dispatch a half-volley past Freddie Woodman for the opener. Then Gomez managed to vacate the centre of the penalty area when Yeremy Pino found Sarr and he lifted a shot into the roof of the net. Glasner admitted he spent Tuesday debating whether to demote Sarr or Jean-Philippe Mateta for this game. He was relieved he started with the Senegalese. The classy Pino was to add a late third, but Sarr’s clinical double had long since decided the game. The perfectionist in Glasner was unhappy with the first 15 minutes, when Rio Ngumoha sparkled with his skill in the initial exchanges, and as Federico Chiesa tested Walter Benitez. For each, it was a rare outing. Woodman, the son of Palace’s former goalkeeping coach and the godson of their ex-captain, Gareth Southgate, and Kieran Morrison made their debuts. Calvin Ramsay made just his second start, Ngumoha his third, Trey Nyoni his fourth and the rather more experienced Chiesa his fifth. Slot argued Liverpool have often used the League Cup to give opportunities to younger players, but they are normally surrounded by more senior figures. And whereas Glasner afforded himself options by naming Mateta on the bench, Slot left himself with nothing in reserve. The Dutchman seemed to raise the white flag when taking off the stand-in skipper, Andy Robertson, and Alexis Mac Allister. Anfield has witnessed many a comeback over the years, and Slot’s Liverpool have scored plenty of late goals this season, but this was an admission there would be no sequel. And the 18-year-old Nallo must wish he had not been sent on, because he was sent off 12 minutes later. As the last man, he tugged back Justin Devenny. Referee Craig Pawson did not have the option of showing mercy. The rested regulars Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate immediately went to the dressing room to console the teenager Nallo. “That tells me they are great human beings,” said Slot. It was one of the few positives he could take. Drenched in the rain, he was taunted with chants of “sacked in the morning” by the Palace fans. It will prove an incorrect prediction, but the danger is that Liverpool’s plight could worsen. Now Liverpool will enter a defining week wondering if six defeats in swift succession could become nine. The last match they won in England was in the Carabao Cup. They will not win it, because now they are not even in it.

Tied at 2-2, the winner of Game 5 will gain a massive advantage moving forward, as they will only need one more win to claim the trophy. The Dodgers captured all the momentum with a second straight win in Game 3, which lasted 18 innings, but they failed to keep it going in Game 4 as they were only able to score one run in the loss. Blake Snell, who was the Game 1 starter, will take the mound for Los Angeles. He struggled in the series opener, but has otherwise been dominant during the postseason. Expect a bounce-back performance from Snell. Trey Yesavage gets the start for the Blue Jays. He was able to limit Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers’ offense in the game, giving up only 2 runs. Mike Bloomberg reiterates support for Andrew Cuomo as NYC mayoral race heats up in final stretch

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg reaffirmed his support for Andrew Cuomo on social media Wednesday, saying the former New York governor’s experience and toughness make him the best choice to lead New York City as voters begin casting early ballots. Bloomberg said on X, "Four months ago I endorsed @AndrewCuomo because I thought his management experience and government know-how made him the best choice for New Yorkers. I still do. And today, with early voting underway, I wanted to reiterate my support for Andrew Cuomo. "Being Mayor of New York City is the second toughest job in America, and the next mayor will face immense challenges. "Andrew Cuomo has the experience and toughness to stand up for New Yorkers and get things done. I hope you will join me in supporting him." NEW POLL REVEALS MAMDANI STILL HOLDS COMMANDING DOUBLE-DIGIT LEAD OVER RIVALS IN NYC MAYORAL RACE Fox News Digital has reached out to Cuomo's campaign for comment on the matter. Bloomberg, who served three terms as mayor, first endorsed Cuomo two weeks before New York City’s June 24 primary, just four days before early voting began. At the time, Bloomberg said he cares "deeply about the future of our city, and since leaving office, it has been difficult to watch its struggles, especially since the pandemic. In sizing up the field in the race for mayor, there is one candidate whose management experience and government know-how stand above the others: Andrew Cuomo." With just over a week until Election Day, state lawmaker Zohran Mamdani holds a double-digit lead in the race for mayor of New York City, though Cuomo is narrowing the gap, according to a new Suffolk University poll released this week. NEW POLL REVEALS MAMDANI'S LEAD IS SHRINKING AS CUOMO GAINS GROUND IN NYC SHOWDOWN Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic socialist state lawmaker from Queens, shocked the political world in June by defeating Cuomo and nine other candidates to win the Democratic nomination. He now holds 44% support among likely voters in the Suffolk survey. Cuomo, who resigned as governor in 2021 amid multiple scandals and is running as an independent after losing the primary, had 34% support in the poll. The survey was conducted Thursday through Sunday, after incumbent Mayor Eric Adams endorsed Cuomo in a bid to defeat Mamdani. Adams, who had been seeking re-election as an independent, dropped out late last month, though his name remains on the ballot. FINAL STRETCH: MAMDANI'S LARGE LEAD SHRINKING AS CUOMO GAINS GROUND IN NYC MAYORAL RACE Guardian Angels co-founder Curtis Sliwa, running again as the Republican nominee, had 11% support in the poll. The remaining four candidates received 2%, while 7% were undecided and 2% declined to respond. Mamdani’s 10-point advantage over Cuomo is down from his 20-point lead in Suffolk’s September poll. Cuomo sharpened his attacks on Mamdani in the final stretch, warning that "mayhem" would follow a Mamdani victory. Meanwhile, Sliwa, a longtime fixture in New York City politics, has faced mounting pressure to drop out, clearing the way for a one-on-one race between Cuomo and Mamdani. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP Among those urging Sliwa to end his bid is billionaire businessman and conservative radio host John Catsimatidis, a top New York City Republican and ally of President Donald Trump. 'Squad' Dem dishes out campaign cash to anti-Israel nonprofit tied to 'Terrorist University'

FIRST ON FOX: "Squad" Rep. Ilhan Omar's, D-Minn., campaign recently sent over a thousand dollars to a Washington, D.C., based nonprofit that partnered with a Palestinian university with alleged terrorist ties, according to new Federal Election Commission filings reviewed by Fox News Digital. The Palestine House of Freedom, also known by its Arabic name "Dar Alhurriya," is a nonprofit headquartered just blocks from the U.S. Capitol building. According to a video on the group’s website, it is "dedicated to the liberation of Palestine" and "the dismantling of apartheid in Palestine and the establishment of a free, democratic state from the river to the sea." The group’s website emphasizes that Israel is "operating as an apartheid state." The website further states that its mission is to "embark on an aggressive educational campaign targeting everyone from lawmakers, staffers, the media, to the general public" to "show how dismantling apartheid and establishing a free democratic Palestine from the River to the Sea with equal rights, is the path to peace and will benefit all parties involved." PRO-PALESTINIAN CONFERENCE PANELIST CALLS US ‘EVIL,’ URGES ‘DESTROYING THE IDEA OF AMERICA’ The filings show that Omar’s campaign, Ilhan for Congress, sent $1,559.25 to the anti-Israel Palestine House of Freedom for "Event Tickets" in September. However, it is unclear which event the payments were for. Palestine House of Freedom made headlines earlier this year for hosting a fundraiser in June for the Palestinian Birzeit University, a school that has alleged terrorist ties and has seen its student council elections favor the pro-Hamas wing of student council members, according to the Washington Reporter. The university’s student council has long been dominated by the Hamas-affiliated Al-Wafaa bloc and has been previously dubbed, "Terrorist University." Student campus parades have also reportedly included people marching with mock suicide bomb vests and rockets, as reported by Memri TV. A Fox News Digital review found that the Hamas-affiliated Al-Wafaa bloc has won several student council elections at Birzeit dating back to the 1990's, including victories in 2022 and 2023. After the 2023 victory, a top Hamas operative reportedly told Middle East Monitor that the victory represents an "extension" of their movement. "The second message is that the bloc has proven its ability to adapt to changes, overcome complexities, and fill the void created by arrests, martyrdom, or deportation," Ismail Haniyeh, who was head of Hamas’ Political Bureau until he was assassinated by Israel Defense Forces last year in Tehran, told Middle East Monitor. He went on to say that Hamas is "unbreakable" in their homeland and that they will confront the "occupier, oppression and terrorism." This wasn't the first time that a top Hamas operative praised the Al-Wafaa bloc's victory at Birzeit. In 2017, a top Hamas spokesperson reportedly congratulated the student body on the election results. REP. ELISE STEFANIK LABELS NYC MAYORAL CANDIDATE ZOHRAN MAMDANI A 'JIHADIST' Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg, R-Mich., sent a letter on Sept. 29 to Harvard University, expressing concern about the university's failure to issue a public decision on its prior partnership with Birzeit. In the letter, the lawmakers called Birzeit "an institution whose student body overwhelmingly supports Hamas" and a school that "explicitly endorses a U.S. designated terrorist organization." Harvard announced this spring that it would not renew its cooperation agreement with Birzeit and would issue a permanent decision about the partnership after an internal review, according to The Harvard Crimson. According to the June event’s flyer, all the proceeds from the Palestine House of Freedom fundraiser, which was titled "From Birzeit and Beyond: How academia shapes resistance and resilience," went to Birzeit. DEMS SILENT ON PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATE’S NAZI-STYLE TATTOO AFTER KNOCKING HEGSETH FOR CHRISTIAN SYMBOL Omar was one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress in 2018. She has taken heavy criticism for espousing anti-American and antisemitic comments over the years, including saying that "some people did something" in reference to the 9/11 attacks and saying that "Israel has hypnotized the world." She later apologized for the comment about Israel. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP In September, a vote to censure Omar over comments she made about the assassination of Charlie Kirk narrowly failed to pass the House of Representatives. Fox News Digital reached out to Harvard, the Palestinian House of Freedom, Omar’s office and Ilhan for Congress for comment, but did not receive a response by press time.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Confirms Carson Kvapil as 2026 Full-Time Driver

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has confirmed that Carson Kvapil will race full-time in 2026 in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. JR Motorsports plans to place Kvapil alongside veteran crew chief Rodney Childers. They’re looking to park up on Victory Lane. “Having Rodney, and I think there’s going to be a lot of good things coming next year,” Kvapil added. “And just me having the experience of running this full-time season this year is going to really going to help us next year, but winning races is the main goal.” MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA – OCTOBER 25: Carson Kvapil, driver of the #1 Bass Pro Shops/Clarience Tech Chevrolet, looks on during qualifying for the NASCAR Xfinity Series IAA and Ritchie Bros. 250 at Martinsville Speedway on October 25, 2025 in Martinsville, Virginia. A special announcement from @DaleJr and @Carson_Kvapil . pic.twitter.com/FiWlcDQgQ3— JR Motorsports (@JRMotorsports) October 29, 2025 “Yeah, it’s super exciting,” he continued. “Obviously, going into the final four here, we’re just trying to focus on winning the championship. But at the same time, looking ahead, super excited to go try to race for a championship next year, too.” Earnhardt Jr. is looking forward to revealing more later in the year. “Once we’re beyond Phoenix, we’ll have more information about what those remaining races look like,” he said. “So we’ll be sharing all that once we get through Phoenix.” The 22-year old has reached the Championship 4 without a win, instead finishing second three separate times while also logging four top-five finishes. After an 18th place finish at Martinsville, he achieved his berth on points. “That was probably the most nerve-wracking racing I’ve done in my career,” Kvapil said via NASCAR.com. “Obviously, we were sitting in a pretty good spot before we got turned around there. “I think the sky’s the limit for these guys. Our season hasn’t been the flashiest … but you never know. It all comes down to one race and we’ve got a 25-percent chance of winning.” This comes after Earnhardt voiced his concern over JGR’s decision to field Aric Almirola. “I love Aric,” the NASCAR legend said during his podcast. “I’d like to think we’re friends, and I’m happy for him to go through this process and make these memories with his kids. Those are great things. But now he’s going to run Martinsville and Phoenix. “They’re going for that owner’s points championship in the 19 car, and I worry how that will mingle with the drivers’ championship, you know?” He continued: “Hopefully, Aric can do what he needs to do to give them the best shot to win the owner’s championship. I want that for him. He’s free to race hard, but I just hope that he doesn’t affect the drivers’ championship in some negative way. That would be tough.”

PCB Advisory Committee submits concerns to EPA regarding site preparation for landfill

LEE — The PCB Advisory Committee has formally requested that changes and clarifications be made to the PCB landfill project’s site-clearing plan made public earlier this month by the Environmental Protection Agency. Chief among the committee’s concerns are how site preparations could impact the surrounding environment and wildlife species, as well as unclear language about what are the potential consequences if certain guidelines, such as truck travel routes, are not followed. The criticisms initially came as members of the committee reviewed a short draft of questions and concerns prepared by the engineering consultant company Kleinfelder at a recent meeting. Kleinfelder’s feedback was drafted in response to a 360-page plan submitted by General Electric to EPA for its landfill site preparations. The plan does not contain information about the actual construction of the landfill itself, but describes preliminary measures that will be taken such as tree removal and equipment placement. Site preparation work is currently slated to begin on Monday. Once completed, the landfill is expected to hold over a million cubic yards of sediments contaminated with PCBs gathered from the Housatonic River. The contamination was from years of the carcinogenic's use at GE's plant upstream in Pittsfield. Using Kleinfelder’s initial feedback as a starting point, members of the PCB Advisory Committee voiced their reservations about what they saw as the project’s unclear language regarding on-site truck routes. For example, Kleinfelder noted that a clause allowing trucks to use roads outside of those stipulated in the plan in order to access certain disposal facilities seemed “overly broad,” and recommended that the town request clearer boundaries to keep trucks off residential streets. The question of how to ensure accountability for this rule and others, such as site work only being permitted during daylight hours, became a pressing concern for the committee. “This doesn't push back with enough clarity to protect the community's interests,” committee member Robert Heinzman said at the PCB Advisory Committee meeting. “I think we just need to pin them down and say, what are the scenarios? Who's making the decisions and what are we really talking about?” Robert Wespiser, also on the committee, expressed similar concerns: “We need to define the process for violations of whatever is stated. … We should require a definition of enforcement processes.” Members also discussed whether the plan had investigated the impact of the project on local species, including the endangered northern long-eared bat, thoroughly enough. While the plan notes that tree clearing will not begin until early November to avoid disrupting any bats that may be roosting in the area, it does not outline any plans to replace the potential habitat space for future availability. After working with Kleinfelder to incorporate the concerns discussed at the meeting into the consultant’s feedback, the comments were submitted to EPA on Oct. 24, ahead of the Oct. 31 response deadline. EPA will now reach out to GE to relay concerns and make suggestions. To expedite the review process, EPA will not be holding a formal public comment period for the site preparation plan. The narrow deadline to submit feedback was a point of contention for some members of the PCB Advisory Committee, who said that it doesn’t allow enough time for the lengthy plan to be fully read and understood by community members. “My concern is that we're sort of seeing a downplay of concern about public involvement,” said committee member Marilyn Wyatt. Committee member Bob Jones, who is also a Select Board member, agreed. “I just look at this as a way to diminish communication,” he said. Historical Commission Vice President Bill Matthews, who delivered the meeting’s sole public comment, said that he planned to organize an informal discussion session for community members to discuss their concerns. He said that the meeting would be independent from the town, and that a date had not yet been set. The committee also discussed a Massachusetts Department of Health report made public in September that claimed to have found no significant increase in PCB-related cancers in residential areas located near the Housatonic River. Several members said that they thought the study wasn’t thorough enough and expressed a desire to see a new, more comprehensive epidemiological study that would further investigate how PCB contaminants may have affected local communities. “I want it to be true that this is not affecting the cancer rate whatsoever,” Jones said. “I want to believe that. But the problem is both the EPA and GE and [biochemical producer] Monsanto have impacted their own credibility over decades. And so we're left with nothing but questions.” The PCB Advisory Committee will hold its next meeting on Nov. 17, after site clearing work for the PCB landfill begins in early November. Due to the ongoing government shutdown, the EPA has delayed a community information session initially scheduled for Nov. 12 to Dec. 3. At the event, which will be hosted at Lee Middle & High School, informational booths will be available for community members to learn more about aspects of the Housatonic River, including the PCB landfill project.

Energy bills on the rise, driven in part by power-hungry AI

Utility customers across the country are facing higher electricity bills as power companies seek large rate increases and artificial intelligence data centers strain existing grids. According to KTLA consumer reporter David Lazarus, rate requests and approvals totaled $34 billion in the first three quarters of 2025. That's more than double the $16 billion sought over the same period last year, according to a report from the nonprofit Power Lines. Residential electricity prices rose 11% from January to August, the federal government says, a pace nearly four times the rate of inflation. “The increases are due in part to the usual things: improving our aging infrastructure, and that’s understandable,” Lazarus said. “But AI is also playing a significant role here.” Lazarus noted that fast-growing AI data centers are incredibly power-hungry and often require massive amounts of electricity to function and fresh water to cool equipment. While many facilities are building their own power sources, including some opting for nuclear, they are still years away from completion. In the interim, data centers will “be siphoning power off from the existing grids, which means shortages, which means higher rates,” Lazarus said. According to the Pew Research Center, the total annual U.S. electricity consumption hit a record high in 2024, and it's likely that records will continue to be set if data centers continue expanding at their current pace. Researchers also note that it can be difficult to fully distinguish how much of a data center's power demand comes from AI technology alone. As for how to prevent major price hikes due to the incoming "robot takeover," Laz says consumers have limited options. Customers struggling with bills should first contact their utility providers to seek payment plans or short-term arrangements. “They’re not going to let you off the hook, make no mistake, but they can at least get you through the hump," he said. He also encouraged residents to make their voices heard with state utility regulators, saying the Public Utilities Commission exists to receive and review public input on rate increases. "These folks will respond if, in fact, there is a groundswell of criticism about rising rates," Lazarus said. Ultimately, though, consumers should prepare themselves for rate hikes to become the new norm. “This is going to be a perennial problem for years to come,” Lazarus said. “The AI industry clearly is not going away—in fact, it’s driving the U.S. economy at the moment—and this industry is thirsty.”

Lakers’ Bronny James Gets Brutal Reality Check From Former Top Pick

The Los Angeles Lakers are enduring a rough stretch of basketball without their two superstars, LeBron James and Luka Doncic. While their teammate Austin Reaves has been playing his mind out to get the team wins, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Portland Trail Blazers’ performance earlier this week. While LeBron isn’t part of the lineup until sometime in November, his son, Bronny James, has started to appear in games. However, a recent play against the Blazers came under fire from one of the Lakers’ former players, No. 1 draft pick Kwame Brown. Brown released a clip featuring scathing remarks in which he ripped Bronny’s defensive issues, calling the son of King James too “soft” on the court. More specifically, he compared him to Charmin toilet paper and even mocked LeBron for coaching his son to avoid contact. Brown’s criticism of Bronny focused on a first-quarter defensive sequence. With the Lakers up 21-18, the Blazers were setting up for an offensive play in the half-court. Brown mentioned with the play, “Bronny, you should be pointing and talking.” Read more: Lakers’ LeBron James Gets Strong Advice About Retiring From NBA PHOENIX, ARIZONA – OCTOBER 14: Bronny James #9 of the Los Angeles Lakers looks on during the second half of the preseason NBA game against the Phoenix Suns at Mortgage Matchup Center on October 14, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. This is nothing; this is a charge right here,” Brown claimed. Brown soon unleashed his brutal review of Bronny when he moved aside to allow the driving player an easier path to the basket. “Bronny, where the hell is you goin?” he asked, adding, “See this what happens when a kid has the golden ticket. The former Lakers player didn’t hesitate to bring LeBron into the conversation, mocking Bronny’s father and making remarks as if he were having a father-son chat. “Mind the game. This is how you mind the game. Bronny, mind your damn business, get out the way. Mind your business, Bronny. Don’t get hurt. Get that money, boy,” Brown said in a fake, deep voice as if he were LeBron. Despite 41 points from Raves, the Lakers fell to the Blazers at home 122-108. Bronny played 20 minutes off the bench and finished with no points after missing both shots he took. To his credit, he filled out the rest of his stat sheet with a block, a steal, three rebounds, three assists, three fouls, and three turnovers. Due to that, coach JJ Redick is relying on every available player, including the still-in-development Bronny James. Some consider Kwame Brown a major NBA bust after going No. 1 overall to the Washington Wizards and playing for multiple teams, including the Lakers. Bronny gets another chance to impress him when he plays against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. Travis Kelce Reveals Chiefs' Key to Success Against Rival Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs have a major challenge coming up in the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and the game feels like a must-win for both teams. The Chiefs are 5-3 after a slow start to the season, and even though they’re blossoming now, taking another loss at this point in the season would deflate the momentum they’ve worked to build. Meanwhile, the Bills lost two consecutive games before their bye week, and though they’re coming off a win over the Panthers last week, those two losses are still fresh in their minds. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce opened up about the upcoming game on the most-recent episode of his “New Heights” podcast, giving s little insight into what he believes the Chiefs need to do to win. “Getting [Bills running back James Cook] the ball is a pretty good strategy,” Travis Kelce said, half-joking. “Yeah, so hopefully we can slow that down and keep putting up points like we’ve been putting up over the past couple of weeks.” Cook notched 216 rushing yards against the Carolina Panthers and two touchdowns last weekend, and he’s quickly established himself as one of the top RBs int he NFL. Kelce also addressed the short week for the Chiefs, since they played on “Monday Night Football.” “We got a big one this week against Buffalo on a short week, man,” he said. “And the Bills got rolling again this past week. They were part of some of those blowout games that we saw on Sunday.” Read more: Patrick Mahomes Had Classy Gesture for Travis Kelce After Historic TD Kelce went on to talk about the success that the Chiefs have been experiencing on the field lately. “We’re scoring touchdowns and that’s where it really gets fun. When you’re putting up seven points every time you touch the ball, it’s a fun, fun time,” he said. “Defense is playing great, special teams is playing great, and offense, it just feels like we’re dialing the right things up, and we’re rolling as an offense. It’s fun when everybody’s getting a piece of the pie.” Monday’s game was a huge one for Kelce. He earned his 80th career regular-season touchdown pass and become just the fifth TE in NFL history to do so, according to NFL research. According to ESPN, Kelce also scored his 100th touchdown, including the postseason, so it was a happy night for him. NFL Week 9 Betting Report: 'The Sentiment Is That The Chiefs Are Back'

To the average Joe or Jane poring over NFL Week 9 odds, it’s a little surprising to see the Chiefs as short road favorites over the Bills. Perhaps more surprising: Despite a seemingly modest 5-3 record, the Chiefs are once again Super Bowl favorites, too. "From a bookmaker’s standpoint, it’s not surprising at all," Caesars Sports head of football trading Joey Feazel said. "To others, it does look a little weird, because the Chiefs are not even leading their division. "But their power rating is right up there. They’ve got a top-five defense, and if their offense continues to improve, they absolutely deserve to be the favorite." Oddsmakers and sharp bettors serve up their insights on the Chiefs-Bills clash and more, as we dive into NFL Week 9 betting nuggets. Marquee Matchup It’s not in prime time, but Sunday’s 4:25 p.m. ET Chiefs-Bills kickoff is the Grade A game on the NFL Week 9 odds docket. Kansas City is 5-3 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS). However, that includes a current 5-1 SU and ATS surge, which has bookmakers’ attention. Caesars Sports opened K.C. as a 1.5-point road favorite and on Tuesday moved to -2, where the line remains Wednesday afternoon. Buffalo (5-2 SU/3-4 ATS) is in the rare spot of not only being an underdog, but a home underdog. "We could see this maybe go to Chiefs -2.5," Feazel said. "We’re seeing mostly Chiefs action. The sentiment is that the Chiefs are back, and I don’t see that changing. "This will be a really high-action game. We’ll be Bills fans and low-scoring-game fans." Indeed, the total is 52.5, the highest of all 14 NFL Week 9 games, and the public betting masses will be all over the Over. NFL Rocks on FOX Week 9 of the 2022 season is where things really got started for the Lions. At the time, Dan Campbell’s squad was a meager 1-6 SU/3-4 ATS. But the Lions finished that season on a huge 8-2 SU/9-1 ATS run. Fast-forward to Week 9 2025: Over the past 55 games, Detroit is 42-13 SU and a veritable free ATM for bettors at 40-14-1 ATS. Covering the spread at a 74% clip over that long a stretch is impressive, to say the least. The public betting masses expect that to continue this week. Detroit opened -9.5 vs. the Vikings, and though the line is down a tick to -9 midweek, most bettors like the Lions in this 1 p.m. ET matchup on FOX. "We’ve seen a little sharper action on the Vikings, which is why we’re down to 9," Feazel said. "But action is the same as we see every week on the Lions, taking them to cover. They cover a lot and don’t take their foot off the gas. "I think this will be one of our biggest decisions of the week. We need the Vikings to be competitive." NFL Sharp Side Professional bettor Randy McKay got there in Week 8, taking the Texans -1 in their 26-15 home win over the 49ers. In Week 9, McKay is getting involved with the first game: the Ravens vs. the Dolphins at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday. All the buzz is about Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s return, and Baltimore correspondingly being a 7.5-point road favorite. But McKay believes the value is on the underdog Dolphins +7.5. "That’s my best play so far," McKay said Wednesday. "Jackson is supposed to be back, but is he healthy? And the Baltimore defense still isn’t that good, with injuries." Indeed, a host of Ravens defenders are now on injured reserve. "Also, Miami has played a Thursday game already this season. The Dolphins were very competitive at Buffalo," McKay said, alluding to a 31-21 Week 3 loss in a game that was tied at 21 early in the fourth quarter. NFL Rocks on FOX, Part II The Broncos are 6-2 SU, but often look more like their 3-5 ATS record. Denver hasn’t exactly been the model of consistency. Neither have the Texans (3-4 SU and ATS), who, like the Broncos, reached the playoffs last season. Now the two square off in a 1 p.m. ET Sunday kickoff on FOX. Caesars opened Denver -1.5 (-105), but late Monday night, the line flipped to Houston -1.5 (-108). The Texans briefly got to -2 on Wednesday afternoon, then went to -1.5 (-117). "It’s not really that big a move, even though we’re changing favorites," Feazel said. "It’s mostly two-way action so far. We tend to see sharp money late in the week on the Broncos and Jets, for whatever reason. I could see that happening again. "There’s also a little bit more money to the Over, but I think that’s because of how low the total is." The Broncos-Texans total is at 39.5, the lowest of any game in NFL Week 9 odds. Also, potentially adding to action on the Over: Denver cornerback and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II is out this week with a pectoral strain. Indiana Jones Daniel Jones has revived his career and the fate of the Colts, as well. Of course, it helps to have a superb running back such as Jonathan Taylor. Indy leads the NFL with a 7-1 SU record and is a solid 6-2 ATS, as well. The Colts travel to Pittsburgh for a 1 p.m. ET Sunday meeting with the Steelers, who have lost two in a row SU and ATS. Indianapolis opened -2.5 (-120) at Caesars, quickly moved to -3 and is -3 (-115) as of Wednesday afternoon. "This is one of the higher-bet games in this early time slot, and it’s mostly one-way traffic on the Colts," Feazel said. "They win, and they cover, and that’s what drives action from the public. "We’ll need Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers to keep this close." I Like Big Bets and I Cannot Lie Not much has landed yet in the way of major wagers on NFL Week 9 odds. But there are some notable Super Bowl futures wagers to report. On Oct. 13, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy went big on the Patriots, putting down $50,000 at +3500 odds. Earlier this week, Portnoy revealed the DraftKings Sportsbook ticket on X: If Drake Maye & Co. — currently 6-2 SU and ATS — make a surprising championship run, then Portnoy bags a profit of $1.75 million, for a total payout of $1.8 million. DraftKings now has the Patriots at +2800. As noted above, the Colts are just as surprising as the Patriots, if not more. One prescient Caesars Sports customer got in before the season began, on Aug. 28, when Indianapolis was a +12500 long shot (125/1) in Super Bowl 60 odds. The bettor wagered $8,000 on those odds. Potential profit: One million dollars. Similarly, in early September, the Colts had even longer odds of +15000. A Caesars bettor put $2,500 on that price, for a potential profit of $375,000. The 7-1 Colts are now the +1000 sixth choice in Caesars’ Super Bowl futures, a long way from their long-shot days. The only teams ahead of Indy are the Chiefs (+480), Lions (+650), Packers (+750), Bills (+775) and Eagles (+950). Obviously, those are two really nice tickets to be sitting on. Here’s hoping they stay nice through the first week of February. Patrick Everson is a sports betting analyst for FOX Sports and senior reporter for VegasInsider.com. Arne Slot serenaded with ‘sacked’ chants by Crystal Palace fans as Liverpool crisis worsens

Arne Slot was serenaded with “sacked in the morning” chants from the Crystal Palace away end as Liverpool succumbed to their sixth defeat in seven on Wednesday night. The Reds were dumped out of the Carabao Cup as their bogey team beat them 3-0, with bogey player Ismaila Sarr notching a brace before Yeremy Pino’s late curler added salt to the Liverpool wounds, sparking a fan exodus from Anfield. But it was ahead of Palace’s third that the travelling fans began to taunt the Liverpool manager, who saw a substitute decision backfire spectacularly. Teenage centre-back Amara Nallo was sent off for Liverpool just 12 minutes after entering the fray, marking his second red card in as many senior appearances for the Reds. He was also sent for an early bath in his debut last year against PSV. Eagles fans basked in the dismay of both Nallo and Slot, directing their “sacked” songs at the Dutch manager. Off the back of guiding the Reds to the Premier League title in a dream debut season, Slot now finds himself under heightened scrutiny amid Liverpool’s worsening crisis - one that began at Selhurst Park last month, where the club’s winning start to the season was ended by Palace. Oliver Glasner’s side also got the better of Liverpool in the Community Shield, with the damning defeat at Anfield acting as Slot’s third to Palace already this term. Slot justified his team selection post-match, which saw him make 10 changes and hand debuts to Freddie Woodman and Kieran Morrison. "I think people who know this club and followed this club know that in this competition we use this for our younger players,” he told Sky Sports. "That is one of the reasons. The other reason is we have only four of five injuries, but I have to play the same players. There are multiple reasons why we have lost so many games. With all the reasons, there is still no excuse to lose so many. "If we keep playing the same players like I tried with Alexander Isak, players who have missed out on pre-season. It's another risk of getting an injury." Liverpool return to Anfield this weekend as they welcome Aston Villa in their next Premier League assignment, looking to end a run of six consecutive losses on English soil.
