Job Summary: Accountant – Engineering & Construction ContractingWe are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented, and proactive Accountant to oversee the complete financial operations of our engineering and construction contracting company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate books of accounts, managing project-wise financial records, and ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations, including GST, TDS, and other applicable laws.This role involves day-to-day accounting operations such as preparing and processing client invoices, supplier and vendor bills, managing project-related expenses, and performing bank reconciliations. The Accountant will also handle payroll processing, assist in cost control and financial analysis, and provide timely financial reports to support management in decision-making.The position requires hands-on experience in construction or project-based accounting, with strong proficiency in Tally and a solid understanding of accounting principles relevant to the contracting industry. The candidate will be expected to coordinate effectively with project and site teams, vendors, tax consultants, and auditors to ensure smooth and transparent financial operations.Accountant Responsibilities:Hand day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activitiesPreparing bills (sales) with E-way bills / E-InvoicesDaily accounting entries like sales, purchase, banking, cash, JV, debit – credit notes Coordinate with site teams to collect bills, work completion data, and expense reports.Process employee salaries, reimbursements, and handle PF, ESIC, and Professional Tax complianceProcessing creditors payment through cheques or online RTGS/NEFT etcMaintain and reconcile ledgers, bank accounts and cash flow statementPrepare and file GST returns (GSTR – 1, GSTR-3B, Annual returns)Calculate & deduct TDS, file TDS return, issue form 16/16A, professional tax payment along with working closely with CA consultantsCoordinate with auditors, tax consultants and banks as required for preparation and filing of income tax returnsAssist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, cost analysis for ongoing projects).Manage accounts payable and receivable; follow up on outstanding paymentsComplying with all company, local, state, and federal accounting and financial regulations.Support management with budgeting, cost analysis, and other ad hoc financial tasks.Assisting with audits, fact checks and resolving discrepancies.Keeping informed about current legislation relating to finance and accounting will be an added advantageQualifications & Skills:B.Com / M.Com or equivalent degree in Accounting or Finance.5 -10 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a construction or contracting company.Proficiency in Tally ERP & MS Office – other accounting software will be an added advantage.Working knowledge of GST, TDS, income tax and project accounting.Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and accuracy in documentation.Ability to coordinate with multiple teams and meet deadlines. Salary negotiable based on experience and qualification
