Job descriptionThe Sales Agronomist will be the primary link between the company and farmers in Elgon region. This role combines technical agricultural expertise with sales and relationship management skills to drive the adoption of our products/services, increase farmer productivity, and grow market share. Key responsibilities include farmer enrollment, providing technical advice, managing input sales, and field demonstrations.Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Relationship Management & Farmer EnrollmentsIdentify and enroll new smallholder and commercial farmers into the company's programs or platform, ensuring accurate data collection and segmentation.Maintain and nurture strong relationships with existing farmers, farmer groups, and local stakeholders Act as the main point of contact for farmers, addressing their inquiries, feedback, and concerns promptly and effectively.Technical Support & Farmer AdvisoryProvide on-site, timely, and evidence-based technical advisory to farmers on best agricultural practices, crop management, soil health, pest and disease control, and optimal use of company products/inputs.Conduct farmer training sessions and workshops on relevant agronomic topics to enhance farmer knowledge and skills.Diagnose crop issues and recommend appropriate, sustainable solutions.Sales & Marketing and Input Sales AggregationMeet and exceed assigned sales targets for company products, including seeds, fertilizers, crop protection, and other services.Aggregate demand for agricultural inputs from enrolled farmers and manage the end-to-end sales process, from order collection to delivery and payment collection.Develop and implement local sales strategies and marketing campaigns tailored to the specific needs of the territory.Track and report on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities.Field DemonstrationsPlan, establish, and manage field demonstration plots for key products (e.g., new seed varieties, fertilizers) to showcase their efficacy and best practices.Organize and conduct field days and farmer visits to demonstration plots to drive farmer adoption through visual evidence.Producer AggregationFacilitate the aggregation of farmer produce for market linkage as required, ensuring quality control standards are met.Coordinate logistics for produce collection and delivery to buyers/processing centers.QualificationsEducation: A Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Horticulture, Crop Science, or a related field is required.Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in field of agronomy, agricultural sales, extension services, or farmer mobilization.Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of local crops, cropping systems, pest management, and farming technologies.Sales Acumen: Proven ability to achieve sales targets and manage a sales pipeline.Other AttributesCommunication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and simply in local languages.Results-Driven: Highly motivated, self-starter with a focus on achieving measurable results (sales and enrollments).Mobility: Must be willing and able to travel extensively within the assigned territory, often using a motorcycle or other available means.Familiar with the Elgon region terrain and a languageIndustryAgriculture, Construction, Mining Machinery ManufacturingEmployment TypeFull-timeEdit job description
