You will be responsible for executing and verifying external wire payments while ensuring adherence to internal controls and governance standards. The position supports the setup and maintenance of settlement instructions, performs counterparty verification, and contributes to payment oversight through monitoring, reporting, and policy support. It also involves performing cash and position reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies, and collaborating across Operations, Technology, Treasury, and Investment teams. Additionally, the role participates in system testing, process improvements, and provides operational coverage during global market hours, including occasional holidays and weekends.Team DescriptionThe Transaction Control & Reconciliation team is responsible for maintaining the operational accuracy and financial integrity of CPP Investments’ cash management processes. The team oversees the end-to-end execution and verification of external wire payments, ensuring all transactions are processed securely, accurately, and in compliance with established controls. It is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the firm’s accounting book of record by performing daily cash reconciliation, analyzing and escalating exceptions to the appropriate internal group across Operations. By managing both payment execution and reconciliation oversight, the team plays a key role in mitigating operational risk, supporting daily investment activity, and ensuring reliable financial reporting.AccountabilitiesExecute and verify external wire payments: Support the end-to-end payment process, including preparation, verification, and release of outgoing wires. Ensure all transactions are executed securely, accurately, and in accordance with internal policies and approval controls.Maintain and update settlement instructions: Assist with setup, validation, and governance of standard settlement instructions (SSIs) to ensure accurate payment routing and compliance with approved counterparties.Perform counterparty verification: Conduct call-backs and validation of payment details with counterparties, ensuring adherence to security and control standards.Support payment governance and reporting: Contribute to monitoring of payment activity, escalation of exceptions, production of metrics supporting control oversight, and assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures.Perform cash and position reconciliations (secondary function): Reconcile internal records with data from custodians, prime brokers, and banks to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information.Investigate and resolve breaks and exceptions: Identify root causes of discrepancies in payments or reconciliations, escalating and coordinating with stakeholders for timely resolution.Participate in system and process improvements: Support initiatives to streamline payment and reconciliation workflows, enhance automation, and strengthen control frameworks.Provide operational coverage as required: Support payment processing and reconciliation activities that may occasionally require work on Canadian statutory holidays to align with global market operations.Support system testing and change initiatives: Participate in system testing of enhancements and operational change initiatives, which may occasionally require weekend support.Collaborate across functions: Partner with colleagues in Operations, Technology, Treasury, and Investment teams to ensure smooth execution and alignment of operational processes.QualificationsUndergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.1–3 years of relevant experience in investment operations, cash management, or financial reconciliations.Strong Excel skills and familiarity with payment platforms, reconciliation tools or accounting systems.Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.Working knowledge of financial instruments and transaction lifecycles is an asset.Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, or CTP are considered an asset.Additional InformationVisit our LinkedIn Career Page or Follow us on LinkedIn.
