The ideal candidate will combine a deep understanding of the Ghanaian payments ecosystem with strong leadership, operational excellence, and partnership management skills. You’ll be responsible for driving business growth, establishing key partnerships, and ensuring compliance while aligning local operations with the company’s global objectivesKey ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the senior leadership team to develop and implement the country strategy, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goalsCreate and execute the operational roadmap for Ghana, establishing infrastructure and processes to support business growthContinuously improve operational capabilities and optimize pay-in/pay-out channels to enhance efficiency and conversion ratesIdentify, build, and maintain strategic relationships with partners — including banks, payment processors, acquirers, and regulators — to unlock growth opportunitiesAssist with/in commercial negotiations and execute partnership agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes and compliance with legal and regulatory standardsWork cross-functionally with internal teams — Product, Tech, Legal, Compliance, and Commercial — to drive integration, operational alignment, and synergy across initiativesAnalyze performance metrics, customer insights, and market trends to identify opportunities for optimization and business improvementLeverage data-driven strategies to improve operational efficiency and conversion performanceCollaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to local laws and licensing requirementsEngage with regulators, legal experts, tax professionals, and other stakeholders to maintain compliant and sustainable operationsRepresent the company in industry forums, conferences, and professional networks to enhance brand visibility and build influence within the Ghanaian marketStay ahead of market and regulatory developments, applying local insights to strengthen strategic positioning and growthTechnical & Leadership SkillsProven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments and manage ambiguityStrong leadership and team management capabilities, fostering collaboration and accountabilityExpertise in Ghana’s payments or financial systems, with a solid network across the local ecosystemStrong negotiation skills for structuring and optimizing commercial agreementsStrategic thinker with a bias for execution and operational excellenceExcellent analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insightsStrong stakeholder management and communication skillsDemonstrated understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within Ghana’s financial landscapeSelf-starter with a positive, adaptable, and growth-oriented attitudeTechnical proficiency (API-based systems, payment platforms) is a plusExperienceMinimum of 7 years’ experience in fintech, banking, or financial services, ideally with early-stage or scaling businessesProven experience leading country operations, partnerships, or expansion initiativesEducational RequirementsMinimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA or equivalent preferred)Must-Have QualificationsDemonstrated experience in banking, fintech, or bothProven partnership management and commercial negotiation experience with banks, acquirers, or APM providersExperience in regulatory licensing and operations/compliance managementStrong knowledge of Ghana’s market dynamics, regulatory environment, and growth opportunitiesCollaborative leadership style and ability to manage cross-functional teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience in launching or scaling fintech operations within emerging marketsExposure to cross-border payments, remittances, or digital financial servicesExisting relationships with Ghanaian regulators, banks, and payment partnersTrack record of data-driven decision-making and performance optimizationWhat do we offer?
