We do this by designing smart, green infrastructure, transport and buildings, creating a sustainable future for communities everywhere.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Dam Design Specialist to join our engineering team and contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of dam infrastructure projects. This assignment will run for a duration of 17 months beginning in 2026, offering a unique opportunity to deliver impactful results within a defined timeline. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, sustainability, and efficiency of dam structures across diverse environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed designs for various dam types (e.g., earthfill, concrete, arch)Perform structural and stability analyses using advanced engineering softwarePrepare technical documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and reportsCoordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies throughout project phasesEnsure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulationsConduct inspections of existing dams and recommend maintenance or upgradesIdentify and mitigate potential risks, including flood and seismic hazardsContribute to the development of emergency action plans and dam safety programsIntegrate sustainable and innovative practices into dam design and operationsSupport construction activities through technical oversight and review of materials and methodsQualificationsGraduate with a degree in Dam, Hydraulic, Geotechnical, or Civil EngineeringMinimum of 10 years of professional experience relevant to dam engineeringAt least 8 years of international work experience in dam/hydraulic/geotechnical design, including dam physical structures, headworks, intake structures, outlet works, spillways, and irrigation design, ensuring stability and safety under diverse hydrological conditionsExperience delivering Detailed Engineering Designs (DED) and Construction/Supervision (C/S) services in international hydraulic/dam engineering projects (minimum 3 projects)Experience collaborating with the World Bank and other development partners on at least 2 projectsFamiliarity with the language and working conditions of the host countryStrong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and geotechnical engineering principlesProficiency in design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD, or similar)Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and project management skills
