You will experience high levels of ownership and empowerment in your role.Job DescriptionThe Deputy Head of Secondary is an innovative leader who empowers teams through the elements of The Nexus Way. They support the Head of Secondary in the pedagogical, strategic and operational leadership of the secondary school. The Deputy Head of Secondary School works with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). As part of the SLT, the Deputy Head of Secondary is an effective communicator and works collaboratively with all members of the community. The secondary school is divided into 3 phases of learning, MYP Y7-Y9, IGCSE Y10-Y11 and IBDP Y12-Y13.Role And ResponsibilitiesLeading the strategic direction of the Secondary School with the Head of SchoolContributing to whole school strategic planningWorking with Year Leaders and Learning Area Leaders to lead a phase of the secondary schoolLeading and working with Learning Area Leaders and Year Leaders to ensure robust tracking of learners Leading on the use of GL testing and use of data to inform tracking and interventionWorking with the Guardian Coordinator to quality assure homestay provision and safeguard learners who live in Singapore without their familyLine managing some of the secondary teams including the librarySupporting with recruitment and retention of Nexus teachers and learnersSupporting induction of new learners and staffLeading aspects of professional learningLeading aspects of external accreditations including SSG, IB and CIS/WASC.Working collaboratively on Vertical Alignment with the Primary SchoolTeaching classes as requiredInvolvement in whole school events and activities as required.To perform any other duties as assignedQualifications And SkillsProven track record of impactful leadership in a Secondary School in both curriculum and pastoral rolesA relevant degree plus teaching qualification (or equivalent) Higher degree or recognised professional qualification (preferred)Ability to maintain professionalism at all timesProficient in English with excellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure and retain a sense of humourSolutions focused and assumes good intentEvidence of continued relevant professional developmentExperience in an international school environment and demonstrable intercultural competenciesExperience with an inclusive approach to learning and working with diverse needs and EAL learnersRelevant curriculum experience, including MYP, CIE, EdExcel and IBDP assessment practicesBeing a positive advocate for the schoolCoaching accreditation (preferred)Involvement in key whole school events and activitiesNexus International School (Singapore) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our children and families.
