Director of Engineering – Platform & Architecture

Maad is building the orchestration platform uniting data, logistics, and sales channels to drive growth for consumer brands in Francophone Africa.We run the logistics backbone that delivers products from leading consumer brands to 18,000+ retailers every day.Our platform now powers more than $70 million in annualized product sales across 800+ SKUs and 80 leading suppliers — and we’re aiming to 10× that scale in the coming years.As we expand regionally, we’re accelerating our fintech and AI roadmap — embedding payments, credit, and predictive intelligence into every layer of the value chain.The RoleWe’re looking for a hands-on engineering leader to drive the evolution of Maad’s platform architecture - the system that orchestrates commerce, logistics, and data at scale.You’ll design and scale high-performing systems, mentor engineers, and help define the technical strategy that underpins Maad’s next phase of growth - from multi-country expansion to fintech and AI-driven automation.This role combines strategic ownership with practical execution: you’ll think long-term while staying close to the code.What You’ll DoArchitect and scale Maad’s core systems, powering order, payment, and logistics workflows for thousands of retailers.Design high-performing, resilient systems with complex data models - ensuring scalability and integrity as we process millions of monthly transactions.Write and review production code across our main stack (Vue.js, Node.js, and React Native) and guide major architectural decisions.Partner with Product and Data teams to turn complex operational challenges into smarter, data-driven solutions across forecasting, credit, logistics, and beyondBuild the foundations for Maad’s fintech products, payments, reconciliation, and embedded financing.Mentor engineers, elevate technical standards, and cultivate a culture of simplicity, speed, and reliability.Collaborate with leadership on long-term technical strategy, ensuring alignment with Maad’s product vision and market expansion roadmap.Who You AreA senior engineer or technical leader (8 + years experience) who still codes.Experienced designing and operating large-scale, data-intensive systems.Familiar with Vue.js, Node.js, and React Native environments.Comfortable navigating platforms that combine commerce, logistics, and fintech complexity.Product-minded: you build with clarity, maintainability, and business impact in mind.Excited to work on problems that merge technology, data, and real-world scale — from warehouse flows to digital payments and AI insights.A natural coach and collaborator who raises standards without adding bureaucracy.Why MaadImpact: shape the infrastructure behind one of West Africa’s fastest-growing commerce platforms.Challenge: orchestrate logistics, payments, and AI systems serving thousands of daily transactions.Ownership: report directly to the CEO and influence Maad’s technology roadmap.Trajectory: clear path toward CTO-level leadership as we scale across new markets.
