Job DescriptionHearst Newspapers seeks a Director of Growth & B2B Marketing to lead audience and revenue expansion for a premium, multi-state professional subscription product built in partnership with a leading SaaS startup. The product delivers trusted journalism, exclusive data insights, and actionable intelligence for professionals in government, policy, and public affairs.This leader is the senior growth professional representing Hearst in this joint venture. They set the growth strategy, direct marketing and commercial execution, and drive collaboration across both organizations—partnering with marketers at the data company as well as specialists across Hearst’s marketing, product, finance, business development, and editorial teams.Key ResponsibilitiesGrowth Strategy & LeadershipOwn the growth strategy and P&L-related performance goals across acquisition, conversion, and retention.Serve as Hearst’s senior marketing and growth lead for the partnership, setting priorities and ensuring full alignment between the product, business development, and finance teams.Lead planning and forecasting across both organizations, balancing audience growth with revenue optimization.Activate internal Hearst resources—marketing, analytics, product, and editorial—to execute efficiently and at scale.Acquisition & Brand MarketingShape brand positioning and market entry strategies to establish the product as the must-have professional resource in its category.Partner with the partner company’s marketing team to design and deploy co-branded campaigns, PR initiatives, events, and paid media programs.Direct creative development, media planning, and cross-promotion, leveraging both Hearst and partner capabilities.Build awareness through conferences, trade organizations, launch events, and thought-leadership initiatives.Conversion & Lifecycle MarketingOversee conversion optimization, CRM strategy, and subscriber lifecycle management.Lead initiatives that accelerate onboarding, engagement, and renewal rates.Guide retention, upsell, and winback programs executed by Hearst’s lifecycle marketing teams.Insights & OptimizationDefine key growth metrics and build dashboards for acquisition, retention, and campaign ROI.Partner with analytics and finance to produce forecasts, model growth scenarios, and measure return on spend.Use research and customer data to refine messaging, offers, and audience segmentation strategies.Cross-Functional & Commercial LeadershipServe as Hearst’s operational and strategic counterpart to the partner company’s leadership and marketing teams.Work closely with product and tech teams to enhance conversion flows and value delivery.Partner with finance and business development on deal structures, forecasting, and institutional sales execution.Ensure alignment, accountability, and performance across internal Hearst teams and the external partner organization.Qualifications10+ years in growth, lifecycle, or B2B marketing roles within subscription, SaaS, or professional media businesses.Proven record of driving measurable growth for new or evolving products.Experienced in leading cross-company initiatives and balancing shared decision-making with ownership of outcomes.Strong analytical, financial, and strategic planning skills.Excellent communicator with executive presence and the ability to influence across organizations.PreferredBackground in government, policy, or public affairs sectors.Experience with institutional or employer-funded subscription models.Familiarity with joint-venture or partnership-driven product environments.In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York, is $160,000 + Bonus. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location.
