Job Description

UK-BASED APPLICANTS ONLY Seeking a Producer or a Film Director BFI Submission: February 2026 Project Overview Hello, I am the writer, producer, director and screenwriter of a short film currently in development titled PRAƧIS, which I plan to submit to the BFI NETWORK Short Film Fund this February. It is a self-contained, festival-ready piece designed to showcase my capabilities as a filmmaker. It also serves as a proof of concept for the feature film currently in development, which I intend to submit to the main BFI fund next year. BFI Creative Partnership Requirement To meet BFI guidelines, which encourage creative collaboration across multiple roles and therefore do not permit applicants to hold several key positions simultaneously, I am seeking either a director or a producer to collaborate with on the application. Depending on availability and suitability, I can either take on or step back from the directorial role, moving into a writer–producer capacity if needed, or into a writer–director capacity should a suitable producer be appointed. This ensures the project meets the scheme’s requirement for a creative partnership and is presented to the highest professional standard. Development Status The project is in advanced development: the narrative structure, tone, character arcs and visual treatment are largely complete the script is in its late development stages the mood board is completed the lead cast is assembled core crew confirmed (DoP, Gaffer, etc.)The short aligns strongly with the BFI’s inclusivity and diversity requirements, with these values built directly into its narrative. At its core, it is a moral tale about a world that is deeply corrupt. The central idea is simple: can integrity survive in a system that refuses to hold itself accountable?Themes and Style These themes are expressed through behaviour, dialogue and atmosphere. The film operates within a mode of action-inflected social realism, drawing on: digital surveillance identity politics immigration pressures disability gendered bias racial prejudice Martial arts functions as both a symbolic and physical language, expressing resilience, discipline and connection.
