Employment Type: Contract (4 weeks)Compensation: Competitive hourly rate + training travel expensesAbout the ProjectWe are seeking tech-savvy, motivated individuals to join our ground-based data collection project. As a Freelance Data Contributor, you will use cutting-edge "Photon" camera technology to collect high-quality spatial data across 200+ locations in your region.Project OverviewDuration: 4 weeks per region (1 week training + 3 weeks data collection)Collection Target: Approximately 70 locations per operator over the 3-week collection period (~25 locations per week)Training Location: San Francisco, CA (all travel and accommodation expenses covered separately.)Key ResponsibilitiesOperate the Photon camera device to scan designated ground locationsNavigate to assigned collection sites within your local regionPerform on-site data collection according to established protocols and quality standardsUpload collected data to designated systemsConduct initial quality checks to ensure data meets project specificationsMaintain detailed logs of collection activities and site conditionsCommunicate proactively with project management regarding progress and any issuesRequired QualificationsStrong technical aptitude and comfort with technologyExcellent familiarity with the local collection region (Los Angeles, CA)Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing approximately 25 lbsAccess to reliable local transportation (vehicle or bicycle preferred)Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skillsProfessional communication skills and diplomatic demeanor when interacting with property owners/publicComfortable working independently with minimal supervisionAttention to detail and commitment to data qualityPreferred QualificationsPrevious experience with surveying, mapping, or data collectionFamiliarity with GPS/mapping applicationsPhotography or videography experienceValid driver's licenseTraining & SupportComprehensive 3-day training program in San Francisco covering:Photon device operation and maintenanceData collection techniques and best practicesQuality control proceduresSafety protocolsAll training-related travel and accommodation expenses compensated separatelyOngoing remote support throughout the collection periodPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and carry equipment for extended periodsCapability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 25 lbsAbility to work outdoors in various weather conditionsApplication ProcessInterested candidates should submit their resume along with a brief description of their familiarity with the designated collection region.We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our team.
