Job Description

HCF is seeking a General Manager, Health Purchasing and Partnerships to lead and implement our hospital and medical purchasing strategies. This pivotal role ensures our members have access to high-quality, affordable health care, balancing sustainability and value within commercial parameters.You will oversee all facets of benefits management for HCF Group’s $2.6b hospital and medical claims expenditure, with a focus on developing innovative purchasing strategies, managing provider relationships, ensuring financial and contractual governance, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership:Design and implement divisional and 2030 provider network strategies.Identify and drive innovation in health purchasing to enhance value and sustainability.Collaborate across the organization to align purchasing and partnership strategies with HCF’s broader goals.Operational Performance:Lead negotiations for major commercial contracts with hospital and medical providers.Monitor purchasing performance, manage benefit outlay targets, and implement reporting systems.Ensure effective governance, contract management, and compliance with regulatory standards.Policy and Research:Evaluate the impact of government policy and regulatory reform.Build relationships with external bodies and contribute to industry changes.Team Leadership:Develop and lead a high-performing team, focusing on engagement, development, and succession planning.Foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.Corporate Governance & Compliance:Ensure compliance with HCF’s governance requirements and APRA standards.Identify and mitigate risks, and participate in regulatory compliance activities.About YouTertiary qualifications in Business, Strategy, or a Clinical-related discipline.Deep knowledge of the private health care sector and health insurance, including the PHI competitive landscape and regulatory environment.10+ years in an executive or senior leadership role in private health funding, care delivery, or consulting.Proven transformation experience, from strategic conception to execution.Exceptional commercial and negotiation skills, with a track record of delivering financial results.High integrity, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to influence at all levels.Demonstrated leadership in building high-performing teams and leading organizational change.Board and regulator engagement experience is desirableAbout HCFAt HCF, our purpose is to bring our human touch to healthcare.
