Job Description

The Head of Content will lead the development, execution and management of the content strategy across our publishing operations. This includes editorial direction, content creation, workflow management, aligning content with business objectives, growing audience engagement, and ensuring the quality and consistency of our brand voice. The person will supervise content teams (writers, editors, designers) and work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, production and operations.Key Responsibilities: Develop and own the content strategy: define what types of content (books, digital, audio, video, articles) the company will produce, for which audiences, on what platforms/channels. Define and maintain the brand voice, tone, style guidelines, editorial standards. Build, manage and mentor the content team: editors, writers, content producers, freelancers. Hire as needed. Oversee and direct the editorial calendar and content production workflow: from ideation → assignment → creation → editing → publication/distribution. Ensure content aligns with business goals (sales, subscriptions, audience growth, engagement, brand positioning). Collaborate with marketing/sales/operations teams to ensure content supports campaigns, product launches, and audience growth. Requirements / Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or related); Master’s is a plus. Significant experience (e.g., 7-10 years) in content, editorial or publishing roles; leadership/management experience preferred. Strong editorial judgment, writing/editing skills, understanding of storytelling and content creation. Experience with content strategy, multi-channel publishing (print + digital), managing a content team. Familiarity with analytics, KPIs, data-driven decision making for content. Typical Metrics / Goals: Audience growth (readers, subscribers) year-on-year. Content publication targets (number of titles/articles per period). Engagement metrics (downloads, comments/shares, time on page, etc). Revenue or conversions tied to content (ex: ad revenue, subscriptions). Efficiency metrics: cost per piece of content, time to publish. Brand consistency metrics, quality audits, editorial error rate. Compensation:$75,000 to $90,000 per year annual salary.Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
