Instrument Supervisor

Job Description

Oversees and coordinates instrument construction activities on-site, managing teams, resources, &  materials to ensure safe, timely, & quality execution in compliance with project specifications and HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise instrument teams and equipment during fabrication, erection, and testing activities.
  • Obtain Permit to Work (PTW) for assigned activities and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate and liaise with Instrument Superintendents, Engineers, and other departments to maintain smooth workflow.
  • Plan and organize construction works to ensure optimum productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Prepare material requisitions as per Instrument drawings/BOQ; organize work groups and equipment to meet targets.
  • Conduct material inspections, review Material Test Certificates, verify suitability, confirm traceability.
  • Report daily, weekly, and monthly progress; anticipate scaffolding and other service requirements to avoid work disruptions.
  • Prepare inspection requests per inspection/test plans, coordinate with quality department, and obtain clearances for downstream activities.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and quality inspectors for smooth site operations.
  • Conduct line walkdowns, punch listing, and oversee clearing punch points; ensure proper execution of Instrument tests.

    Required Qualifications & Competencies:

    • Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering or other relevant field.
    • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience with thorough knowledge of industrial oil & gas instrument systems, including fabrication, erection, and pressure testing.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills; capable of supervising workforce and equipment efficiently.
    • Familiarity with instrument materials, consumables, tools, and accessories.
    • Knowledge of international standards and specifications for instruments, welding, and related activities.
    • Experienced in interpreting instrument drawings, compiling loop test packages, preparing checklists, and mechanical completion certificates.
    • Excellent planning, coordination, and reporting skills to ensure project compliance and HSE standards.
    • Well-versed in oil & gas HSE requirements, safe work practices, and quality standards.
