Job PurposeThe Junior Business Development Manager is responsible for supporting Senior Business Development Managers while developing into an independently operating trader. The role involves building and maintaining customer relationships, prospecting new markets, driving sales growth, and achieving commercial objectives. Over time, the incumbent will take full ownership of their own market, gaining experience in trading, pricing, negotiation, and supply chain coordination, with the goal of progressing into a senior commercial role within 3 to 4 years.ResponsibilitiesSupport existing business and assist the senior manager in daily commercial activities.Prospect and develop new markets, build customer relationships, and drive sales.Act as the main contact person for assigned customers, ensuring excellent service delivery.Oversee supply chain processes and coordinate with logistics to ensure smooth order flow.Conduct pricing and cost calculations, prepare quotations, and negotiate basic commercial terms.Gather and analyse market intelligence to identify trends, opportunities, and competitors.Participate in technical and commercial training to develop into a senior-level trader.Your ProfileStrong commercial mindset with a genuine interest in international trade and market development.Proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented with a hands-on and problem-solving attitude.Resilient and adaptable — able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach.Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with international partners.EducationMatric (Grade 12) essential.A tertiary qualification in Sales, Business Administration, Chemistry, International trade (advantageous)Skills and ExperienceMinimum 2 years of experience in sales, business development, or supply chain (preferably in a trading or distribution environment).Knowledge of chemical distribution, raw materials, or industrial products advantageous.Basic understanding of pricing, cost analysis, and negotiation techniques.Experience in managing customer relations, preparing quotes, and coordinating orders.Strong organisational, time management, and analytical thinking skills.Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP/SAP systems beneficial.What’s on OfferA full-time position with ongoing technical and commercial training.Support from an experienced and motivated team locally and internationally.A dynamic role with scope for personal and professional growth.Competitive salary package aligned with market standards and linked to performance.
