Junior Designer & Product Developer (Menswear)A long-established international clothing manufacturer is seeking a Junior Designer & Product Developer with a creative flair and strong design background to join its London office. This role sits within a dynamic, multi-functional team responsible for the design, development, and production of garments for several leading clothing retailersRole Overview:This position bridges creative design and product development, requiring a blend of technical knowledge, CAD expertise, and creative vision. The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming design concepts into commercially viable products — ensuring all fabrics, trims, and constructions meet design intent, cost parameters, and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities:Create and update detailed CAD drawings, design packs, and line sheets in line with customer briefs and brand aesthetics.Support the design and development of seasonal and trend-led collections, demonstrating creativity and a strong eye for detail.Conduct fabric sourcing, pricing, and redevelopment of fabrics to meet cost, quality, and sustainability objectives.Chase mills and factories for fabric developments, lab dips, strike-offs, and sample yardage to meet tight deadlines.Maintain and update Excel trackers and development spreadsheets daily, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of progress.Liaise closely with account managers, mills, and production teams to ensure seamless communication and timely sample delivery.Assist with pricing and cost negotiations, balancing design integrity with commercial viability.Prepare for and lead customer development meetings, ensuring all samples, fabrics, and presentations are accurate and compelling.Manage and monitor the critical path for product development, ensuring on-time delivery of samples and approvals.Conduct ongoing trend, fabric, and market research, presenting insights and new developments to internal teams and customers. Skills and Requirements:Educated to degree level in Fashion Design, Product Development, or a related field.Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar product development or design role, ideally within Menswear or Tailoring.Strong CAD and Adobe Illustrator skills, with proficiency in Photoshop and Microsoft Excel.Proven experience in fabric sourcing, supplier communication, and pricing negotiations.Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.Strong creative eye and understanding of trend, fabric, and design aesthetics.Excellent communication and presentation skills.A confident, proactive approach capable of working effectively in a team under pressure in a demanding, fast-paced environment.Ability to interact effectively with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
