Legal Counsel (Oil & Gas)

Position: Legal CounselLocation: SingaporeIndustry: Energy & Commodity TradingOverview:Our client is a growing oil and gas company with an expanding trading business across crude oil, refined products, and petrochemicals. As part of its continued growth, the company is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its trading and operational teams on all legal and contractual matters.The role will be hands-on and commercially focused, offering exposure to front-line trading activities.Key Responsibilities:Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including sales and purchase agreements, charter party agreements, storage, and logistics contracts.Provide legal advice and support to trading, operations, and management teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies.Review and draft both English and Chinese legal documents to ensure consistency and accuracy.Develop and maintain internal policies, templates, and risk management frameworks.Keep abreast of legal and regulatory developments relevant to the trading and refinery sectors.Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B or equivalent) from a recognized university7–10 years of post-qualification experience, ideally within an oil and gas trading company, refinery, or with direct exposure to commodity trading and shipping-related transactions.Strong experience drafting and reviewing both English and Chinese contracts.Commercially minded, detail-oriented, and capable of providing practical legal advice in a fast-paced trading environment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
