Job Description: Logistics & Supply Chain Officer (Import Operations)Role SummaryThe Logistics & Supply Chain Officer (Import Operations) is responsible for the end to end management of all import processes for edible oil. This critical role ensures the seamless flow of goods from the international supplier through to the factory, encompassing Letter of Credit (LC) processing, comprehensive documentation, efficient port and customs clearance, and final logistics movement.Key ResponsibilitiesHandle the full lifecycle of Letters of Credit (LC), including timely opening, amendments, and ensuring strict compliance with banking regulations.Manage issuance of critical bank documents such as insurance certificates, Letters of Indemnity (LOI), and Bank Guarantees (BG), facilitating the swift release of shipping documents.Proactively follow up with sellers/brokers for timely dispatch of documents and efficiently resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise.Monitor and track vessel/container movement and status updates.Act as the primary coordinator with shipping lines for Delivery Order (DO) issuance, Bill of Lading (BL) updates, and accurate container status reporting.Conduct meticulous verification of all import documents to ensure accuracy and compliance, including BL, Commercial Invoice, Certificate of Origin (COO), Phytosanitary Certificate, and Packing List.Coordinate extensively with Custom House Agents (CHA) to ensure efficient and compliant customs clearanceStrategically manage the clearance process to ensure the timely release of goods, thereby eliminating or minimizing costs related to demurrage and detention.Liaise with the Birgunj/ICD teams to schedule and coordinate the dispatch of cleared goods, aligning movement with specific factory consumption requirements.Manage and oversee the multi-modal movement of containers and trucks from the arrival port to the dry port, and finally to the factory gate.Provide timely, accurate, and proactive updates to all internal stakeholders (e.g., Production, Sales, Finance) regarding shipment schedules, customs clearance status, and final delivery timelines.Establish and maintain comprehensive, auditable records for all import documentation, including LC files, shipping documents, and customs paperwork.Prepare and circulate Management Information System (MIS) reports detailing shipment status, port clearance performance, logistics efficiency, and overall operational metrics.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field.Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in import operations, with a strong focus on LC handling, customs procedures, and logistics. Experience in the commodities sector (e.g., edible oil, agri-products) is highly preferred.Exceptional communication, meticulous documentation, and proven follow-up skills are essential.
