The Job at a GlanceTiger Brands King Foods is seeking an experienced and organised Maintenance Planner to join our Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, coordinating and optimising preventive and corrective maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability, maximise plant uptime, and support world-class manufacturing performance.This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of all plant machinery through effective planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement of maintenance processesWHAT YOU WILL DO:Develop, plan and schedule statutory, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities.Identify unsafe or abnormal equipment conditions and incorporate these into maintenance plans.Prepare and maintain annual, quarterly, weekly, and daily maintenance plans aligned to operational requirements.Implement and manage a structured 7-day planning cycle to ensure effective workflow execution.Level and optimise maintenance plans to prevent peaks and dips in workload.Plan, execute and coordinate all major shutdown activities.Ensure accuracy and data integrity within the DMS (CMMS) system.Adhere to procurement and maintenance governance, including Procure-to-Pay and Maintenance SOPs.Lead and support the implementation and continuous improvement of MECP PM Pillar blocks.Coordinate all required resources, including labour, tools, materials and spare parts.Communicate planned maintenance stoppages with Production Managers, Controllers and relevant stakeholders.Ensure all planned work orders are accurately captured and completed in line with Maintenance SOP requirements.Collaborate with Stores and the Buying Department to ensure spares, tools and materials are sourced, staged and available ahead of planned tasks.Manage and monitor maintenance expenditure, ensuring effective cost control.Identify cases of under-, over- or inappropriate maintenance and drive improvements in maintenance mix and strategy.Review maintenance schedules periodically and make updates based on operational trends and equipment performance.Report deviations, out-of-line trends and risks to the Site Engineer and Maintenance Coordinator.Maintain, update and improve CMMS master data, ensuring complete data integrity.Lead the annual asset verification process and ensure accurate data capture and system alignment.Oversee contractor activities for planned maintenance tasks, ensuring proper permit-to-work issuance and compliance with site safety procedures.WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:Qualifications and Core Knowledge Strong engineering and maintenance system knowledge.Advanced CMMS proficiency (i.e., DMS, SAP/Pragma or similar).Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Solid understanding of SHEQ principles.Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing practices.Excellent administrative accuracy and attention to detail.Strong communication and stakeholder management capability.Proficient in MS Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Conflict management and assertiveness.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.Qualification and experience:Education: N6 or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Experience: 3–5 years of practical experience in maintenance planning within a manufacturing or FMCG environmentCertifications: Maintenance planning–related training/certification will be advantageous.In accordance with the employment equity plan of Tiger Brands and its employment equity goals and targets, preference may be given, but is not limited, to candidates from under-represented designated groups.
