Job Description

Purpose of the JobThe purpose of this position is to focus on transport operations, driver coordination and ensure that the fleet is maintained in line with Company policies and the Road Traffic Legislation. The fleet must be serviceable and available on demand from operations.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Supervise and oversee daily transport activities, loading and dispatching on timeBooking of services and maintenance of fleet with the workshop and Panel shopEnsure fleet availability to meet all requests by scheduling, forecasting and surveying current user trendsEnsure vehicles are roadworthy, pre/post-trip inspections, and accident handlingArrange fleets and fleet operational staff to provide support to the transport and hub departmentsComplete all relevant documentation in the event of accidents and forward to the internal insurance departmentOversee routine and ad hoc maintenance, obtain tags for new vehicles and renew old ones to ensure schedule fleet managementMonitor and ensure fleet operation is in compliance with the Road Traffic Acts and regulationsMonitor fuel consumption and reconcile Fuel Cards expenses for all vehicles and driversManage and address staff behaviourManage transport equipmentParticipate in various workshops and educational programs for all fleet staffDevelop and implement standard operational standards to maintain vehicles by advocating best practices in industryFacilitate and implement corrective actions and capacity building to supervise entire fleet to achieve company objectivesConduct ACC meetings with drivers and crew to investigate accidentsAction and maintain abuse costs that need to be recoveredFacilitate training to transport staffManage fuel bowserEnsure accurate transport debriefing and addressing transgressionsRepair and maintenance of VMH equipmentReports and Record KeepingUpdate weekly kilometresMaintain vehicle and trailer asset registerFuel consumption reportFleet utilisation reportDriver training reportFleet inspectionsMaintenance reportDriver assessments, PDP and driver licenseLicence and COF reportWeekly cost reportMaintain Vehicle Key RegisterDaily and weekly fleet inspectionsChecking all debriefing done previous dayStaff ManagementMeasure staff performanceManage and address staff behaviourMinimum RequirementsGrade 12 (Matric)Logistics or transport qualification will be an advantage2 to 3 years’ experience in transportFleet management experienceSkills RequirementsLogistics and transport coordinationVehicle and fleet managementAdministrative and reporting skillsProblem solving skillsIncident handling skillsExcellent verbal and written communicationGood interpersonal skillsOrganisational and time management skillsSupervisory skills
