Job DescriptionWe currently have a newly created opportunity for a Line 1 Tax Compliance Manager to support our Tax and Legal and Enterprise divisions. This role is a key part of embedding our revised Three Lines of Defense model and represents a unique opportunity to bring risk ownership closer to the business.The Three Lines of Defense model sets out that the business owns and manages risk and it’s direct compliance obligations, the risk and compliance teams provide oversight and guidance, and internal audit independently reviews the effectiveness of controlsWhy consider this role?This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating complexity into clarity and wants to help shape how risk is managed at the frontline. You’ll work directly with senior leaders across the divisions to embed smart, efficient controls that support delivery. You’ll be the first checkpoint before Line 2, helping the business stay ahead of risk while maintaining agility. By owning and resolving issues early, you’ll also help protect Line 2’s independence and credibility, ensuring their role remains focused on oversight and challenge.You’ll also play a key role in operationalising policy changes, integrating new obligations into workflows, and ensuring that risk management is not just a compliance exercise — but a value-adding part of how we work and helping the division in navigating complex obligations, ensuring timely action, and embedding sustainable controls.Your OpportunityAct as a delegate for senior leaders across divisions, serving as a key point of contact and subject matter expert in interpreting and operationalising tax-related obligations. For exampleMonitoring changes to Tax Agent Services Act, Tax Agent Services Regulations and Tax Agent Services (Code of Professional Conduct) Determination 2024 and map the firm’s compliance with requirements as well as changes to Migration ActSupport with partner and director Tax Agent registrationsSupport with Migration Agent registrations, regulator review (eg. OMARA, TPB) as well as Compliance with TFN rulesTake ownership of core Line 1 deliverables and activities, including management of obligation registers, drafting and reviewing compliance controls, control testing and remediation planningIdentify, map, and assess the divisions’ processes and controls against regulatory obligations, proactively identifying gaps and recommending internal controls to mitigate operational and compliance riskProvide guidance and support to business teams in the reporting and management of operational risk events, including support across projects and initiativesEngage effectively with key stakeholders across the business, Line 2, and other internal enablement teams to ensure alignment and transparencyRepresent the divisions in risk forums and working groups, contributing to firm-wide risk initiativesEscalate complex matters in a timely manner and ensure appropriate resolution and closureEmbed new obligations into existing workflows with minimal disruption to delivery How are you Extraordinary?At KPMG, we believe diversity of thought, background and experience strengthens relationships and delivers meaningful benefits to our people, our clients, and communities.
