Job Description

IntroductionYou've probably never thought about human composting, or working in death care. Most marketers haven't.But imagine joining the largest cannabis company a decade ago, just as marijuana legalization began spreading state by state. Or working at DraftKings when sports betting suddenly became legal across the country. That's the kind of moment soil transformation is in right now.And the market opportunity is enormous. Because every single person on earth will eventually need end-of-life services.Yet despite that reality, death care remains one of the least modernized industries in America.Earth Funeral is the global leader in soil transformation, a sustainable alternative to burial and cremation that gently transforms the body into nutrient-rich soil.Today, we operate in 13 U.S. states. Your job would be helping bring this new category to the remaining 37.And the best part: you wouldn’t be starting from scratch. We’ve already built the blueprint, the playbooks, the messaging, the funnels, and the systems. Now we’re looking for the marketer who can help run the engine that scales it.The RoleWe are hiring a Marketing Manager to operate and improve the core systems that drive growth. In practice, this is a marketing generalist role for someone who wants to touch every part of the business. For now, you’ll start by owning several core growth systems:Webinars: Own the entire webinar engine, from registration and reminder flows to moderating live sessions, analyzing results, and improving registration → attendance → quote conversion.Lifecycle: Own and improve lifecycle marketing in HubSpot, building nurture, quote follow-up, referral, review, and post-purchase systems that turn one-time customers into long-term family relationships.Education: Publish and distribute educational content in Webflow, structuring it for modern discovery across search engines, answer engines, and AI systems.Experiments: Own experiment measurement from day one, defining what we track, analyzing funnel performance, interpreting results, and deciding whether to scale, iterate, or stop.Creative: Develop and evaluate campaign ideas, including ad concepts, webinar and video scripts, and messaging angles, with the judgment to prioritize what’s most likely to work.Social Proof: Identify and prepare compelling customer stories for press, vetting participants, matching them with journalists, and coordinating thoughtful interviews. But the best candidates see this list as a starting point. You will work directly with the Head of Marketing and help execute the systems that bring Earth Funeral to new markets across the United States. This is not a coordinator role. This is an operator role. You will inherit systems that already exist, funnels, programs, and playbooks that have been built and refined over time. Your job is to understand them deeply, then make them better. That’s not always easy. Improving something your peers built, while working directly alongside them, requires confidence, humility, and strong judgment. The standard here is exceptionally high. If that challenge excites you, you’ll likely thrive in this role.Must-Have Skills There is very little wiggle room here. If you don’t already have experience with these tools, we expect you to learn them before your first interview. That kind of bias for action is exactly what this role requires. You should already be comfortable operating in:HubSpotWebflowCollaboration tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom)ClickUpLoomGenerative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini)Social platforms (Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube)AI should already be part of how you work, not something you’re experimenting with. We expect you to use it as a force multiplier for speed, clarity, and output. You must be extremely organized.Who You AreStrong signal that you may thrive in this role: Experience marketing high-consideration purchases.Earth Funeral is not an impulse decision. It is a major life decision. Families research, compare, and think carefully before making arrangements. If you’ve worked in industries where trust and education drive the sale, that experience translates well here.Examples include:Life insuranceHealth insurance (including international plans like Genki)Real estate or mortgage productsEstate planning servicesCar buying platforms (Carvana, CarMax)Financial advisory servicesTravel insuranceHigher education programsLuxury or other high-ticket purchasesWhy This Role Is HardEarth Funeral is not a simple product to market. We operate across multiple product types, different customer motivations, and different pricing structures.Service availability is also nuanced. In many places there is a difference between:where soil transformation is legalwhere it is availablewhere we have a facilityIn some states we serve families through transportation to facilities in other states. In others we operate locally.Explaining this clearly, while keeping the message simple for families, requires strong judgment and careful communication. And on top of that, this category is still brand new. Most people have never heard of soil transformation before they discover us. Which means part of the job is not just marketing a product, it’s helping introduce an entirely new category to the world. If that complexity sounds frustrating, this role may not be the right fit.If it sounds exciting, you’ll likely thrive here. How We Hire Our hiring process is designed to move quickly and identify strong operators.Step 1 — Initial conversationA short call to learn about your background and how you think about marketing systems.Step 2 — Team conversationDiscussions with members of the Earth Funeral team to understand how you collaborate and communicate.Step 3 — Take-home exerciseA short assignment designed to reflect the type of thinking this role requires.Step 4 — PresentationYou’ll walk us through your thinking and approach.Step 5 — OfferFor the right candidate, we move quickly.
