Job Description

The Mental Coach Trainee supports the Mental Coach in delivering mental performance services to players across all age groups. The role focuses on assisting with assessments, session preparation, data tracking, and administrative tasks while gaining practical experience in applied sport psychology within a professional football environment.Player Support & Session AssistanceAssist the Mental Coach in preparing and organizing individual and group mental training sessions.Support in implementing mental skills programs (e.g., confidence, focus, resilience, visualization).Help in coordinating session schedules with coaches and players.Assessment & Data ManagementSupport in conducting basic psychological assessments under supervision.Assist in recording, tracking, and organizing player wellbeing, mood, and performance-related data.Prepare summaries or observation notes for the Sport Psychologist.Reporting & DocumentationHelp develop presentation materials, session reports, and educational content for players and staff.Maintain confidential records in accordance with club standards and ethical guidelines.Support in preparing reports for technical staff (e.g., weekly wellbeing updates).Research & LearningConduct basic research on relevant topics (motivation, recovery, mindset, stress management).Observe professional sessions to learn practical methods used in elite sports environments.Participate in internal workshops and learning activities.Coordination & Administrative DutiesAssist in arranging workshops, seminars, and player education sessions.Coordinate with medical, coaching, and performance departments for information gathering.Support the scheduling of appointments and follow-ups with players.Qualifications and Skills:Education:Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sport Psychology, Sports Science, or related field (required).Ongoing postgraduate studies or certification in Sport Psychology is an advantage.Experience:0–1 years of experience in psychology, coaching, or internships in sports settings.Previous voluntary work with athletes, teams, or academic research is a plus.Skills:Basic understanding of psychological principles (motivation, confidence, behavior patterns).Familiarity with wellbeing assessments or athlete monitoring tools is beneficial.Ability to observe and record behavioral/mental indicators accurately.Ability to work with diverse age groups (youth to senior players).High level of confidentiality, empathy, and professionalism.
