Job Description

JOB PURPOSEEnsure maximum productivity through optimal utilization of resources, while adhering to quality & safety standardsTo ensure that QCs/RTGs are made available for operations from maintenance/repair that allows operations to continue in safe & smooth mannerKEY ACCOUNTABILITIESResponsible for all kind of problems relevant to QCs/RTGsSupervise & scheduling the staff activities in daily maintenance program & rotating shiftResponsible to carry out planned preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on QCs/RTGs and linked equipment as necessary in the business unit.Smart diagnosis of fault, remedies & control measures on QCs/RTGs and linked equipment as necessary.Selection of repair methods and spare part management by obtaining technical information from the equipment manufacturers, manuals and drawings.Completion of all necessary documentation and records.Ensure QCs/RTGs are maintained in a safe and reliable working condition in accordance with planned maintenanceDevelop staff to acquire technical skills necessary for maintenance of QCs/RTGsEnsure that work order is generated (in coordination with optimization team) for all work performed on the cranesPlan mechanical maintenance (to the extent possible) for maximum crane availabilityPrepare the job plan for the maintenance according to manufacturer’s recommendation in a cost-effective wayPrepare preventive maintenance schedule (with engineering superintendent) for maintenance of QCs/RTGsEnsure that preventive maintenance schedule is entered in the systemSupervise time taken for preventive, breakdown and corrective maintenanceMeasure deviations and ascertain reasons for the sameEncourage the concept of Preventive maintenance amongst technicians and operatorsEnsures tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment for which his team is responsibleProvide regular process control checks and initiate and support performance improvement activitiesAssist engineering superintendent in identifying training requirementsMonitor and analyse MIS reportsAssist engineering superintendent in performing periodical scheduled performance review with reporting personnelPerform periodical scheduled performance review with reporting personnelEnsure economical, efficient, and productive use of the department’s equipment, Spares & manpowerPromote and drive innovation at department levelEnsure balance in the duty schedules with allocated day offsMaintain constant communication with the staff to ensure effective crane department operationsEnsure effective inter and intra departmental communicationResponsible to maintain safety and discipline in the work areaEnsure compliance with Fatal Risk StandardsEnsure compliance with Safe Work PracticesEnsure compliance with HSE policyRecord Number and nature of accidents/near misses. Ensure safety principles are followedEnsure economical, efficient, and productive use of available resourcesEnsure maximum availability and utilization of QCs/RTGsEnsure planned maintenance is carried out vigorously, efficiently, safely whilst providing maximum continuous availability of equipment between planned maintenance intervalsEnsure through the latest manufacturer's manuals drawings etc., that the incumbent is kept fully abreast of technological developments in crane equipmentProvide technical knowledge and practical expertise in assisting subordinates in non-routine tasks. e.g. Major breakdowns and modificationsEnsure safe working conditions for staffProvide regular process control checks and initiate and support performance improvement activitiesCommunicate to the engineering superintendent any potential issue concerning the crane equipment - The reporting must be comprehensive so as to include every aspect of the issueAssist engineering superintendent in preparing departmental budget by providing information related to QCs/RTGsEstablish and implement Performance Testing Standards and Best Practices for crane techniciansDefine initiatives to improve condition and productivity of QCs/RTGsMonitor store inventory IN/OUT, moving & non-moving parts, update/maintain re-order levelQUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSExperience in container in seaportMandatory: 04 years, Preferable: 5 yearsExperience in supervisory roleMandatory: 03 yearsEducation: Preferable: BSc. Degree in mechanical Engineering or 10 years’ experience in same filedPreferable: Postgraduate/ master's in mechanical engineeringMechanical engineers produce specifications for, design, develop, manufacture and install new or modified mechanical components or systems. Mechanical engineers need to be technically minded, able to demonstrate numerical and scientific ability and have problem-solving skills.Conversant with technical/ parts manuals, and drawings.Fully conversant with safety proceduresGood communication skills
