Migration SME – Core Banking Migration

Bring your deep migration expertise to a landmark banking transformation. A major Australian bank is undertaking a multi-year Core Banking Migration Program to integrate a recently acquired subsidiary into the Group’s platform — covering Customer, Loans, Deposits, and Payments. We’re seeking a Migration Subject Matter Expert (SME) to guide the design, planning, and execution of the end-to-end data and platform migration. This is a senior advisory role that works closely with the Program Lead, Chief Architect, and Domain Leads to ensure the migration strategy is robust, controlled, and aligned with the overall program roadmap.  About the role As Migration SME, you’ll provide the deep technical and functional knowledge required to plan and deliver a successful core banking migration. You’ll shape the migration approach, advise on tooling and data strategy, and work with vendors and internal teams to manage migration design, testing, and cutover execution. You’ll also play a key part in identifying and resolving data-related issues, supporting dry-runs, and assuring that migration outcomes meet business, technical, and regulatory expectations. What you’ll do Define and document the end-to-end migration strategy, including approach, methodology, and sequencing. Advise on migration architecture, data models, mapping, cleansing, and transformation processes. Partner with the Program Lead, Domain Leads, and vendor teams to ensure migration design aligns with business and technical targets. Oversee data extraction, transformation, validation, and reconciliation activities across multiple platforms. Support migration testing, dress rehearsals, and final cutover execution. Identify and mitigate migration risks, ensuring traceability, auditability, and minimal business disruption. Provide subject-matter expertise to resolve complex issues during design, build, and transition phases. Advise on tools, accelerators, and automation that enhance migration quality and repeatability.  About you You’re a hands-on migration specialist with experience designing and leading large-scale data or core-banking migration initiatives. You combine technical insight with practical delivery knowledge and can work confidently in a fast-moving, multi-vendor environment. You’ll bring: 10+ years’ experience in complex data migration or system transition programs, ideally in banking or financial services. Proven track record in Core Banking Migration or Modernisation projects (Hogan, T24, Finacle, FIS, SAP, Temenos, or similar). Strong understanding of data structures, ETL processes, data mapping, and reconciliation in regulated environments. Familiarity with core banking functional domains (Customer, Loans, Deposits, Payments). Experience collaborating across architecture, data, testing, and business teams. Knowledge of migration tools and frameworks (Informatica, DataStage, Talend, Ab Initio, or custom ETL). Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and documentation skills, with a pragmatic approach to delivery.  Why join Be the go-to expert driving the success of a large-scale banking migration. Work alongside senior leaders and domain experts in a high-visibility program. Influence strategy, tooling, and execution across a multi-vendor landscape.
