If you thrive on big decisions, market intelligence, and strategic influence, this role is built for you.Job OverviewTo be responsible for managing the portfolios undertaken by Guardian Asset Management and Investment Services Limited including mutual funds, pensions and high net worth clients. To assist with the oversight of the portfolio management process.Job Responsibilities To provide general portfolio management and guidance. Monitor portfolio compliance with documented investment policies, investment committee, regulatory guidelines and investment strategies. To maintain up to date knowledge on all applicable laws, rules and regulations related to portfolios under management. To focus on Proprietary-type thinking and analysis. To develop Strategic and Tactical Asset Allocations and source suitable investment opportunities. To analyze the economic and financial environment and recommend investment strategies for the respective portfolios/asset classes. Monitor and maintain relationships with current and prospective holdings: To produce superior returns on portfolios in line with objectives, market or benchmarks. Monitor portfolio performance to ensure attainment of investment objectives. Participate in group discussions regarding the status of the portfolios. Write company descriptions for GAMISL’s Annual and Semi-annual reports and various marketing materials such as bulletins, presentation slides etc. Answer questions from the marketing department, sales force or outside representatives regarding investment philosophy and other public information regarding the funds/portfolios. Maintain knowledge level on current holdings regarding daily news flow. Ensure proper asset allocation for all the various funds - manage the daily liquidity requirements of the various funds. Review and approve daily NAV calculations if required. Lead discussion and make presentations at GAMISL Investment Committee and investment advisor meetings. Produce market analyses to be shared with the sales force and clients To oversee the preparation of all regulatory and management reports for the respective portfolios. To participate in the annual Budgeting and Forecasting exercise of the group. To lead in the development of yield curves and spreads and asset pricing if required. To participate in credit rating and valuation meetings and review calculations if required. To review circulars for recommended investments and liaise with respective investment committees during approval process To perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the VP.Education And Experience Undergraduate qualification in Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field from a recognized university or institution. Chartered Financial Analyst Level 1 or Post Graduate qualification in Business, Economics, Finance or related field from a recognized university or institution At least 5 years’ experience in the investment management industry. At least 3 years’ experience working in a similar position.Additional RequirementAs a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.Person SpecificationThe Portfolio Manager must be highly professional and articulate. While able to function independently, the incumbent must be able to work in teams. He/She must possess the expertise and charisma to assert leadership over very sophisticated and wealthy clients/ business associates as needed.Applications will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
