We’re looking for a Principal Engineer – Core Banking to help us deliver our vision of super simple experiences for Kiwibank customers and frontline staff.This is a senior technical leadership role at the top of our engineering career pathway. You’ll bring deep expertise in banking systems and API development, guiding how we evolve and coexist across multiple core platforms. Your influence will shape architecture decisions, integration strategies, and ensure resilience in a complex, multi-core environment.You’ll combine hands-on technical capability with strategic leadership, mentoring engineers and partnering with stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions that keep Kiwi better off.Ko tātou tēnei. Key skills and experience we’re looking for:Solid experience in core banking systems and understanding of multi-core coexistenceStrong background in API design and development, including secure integration patternsProven track record leading engineering teams and motivating others in an Agile and/or DevSecOps environmentExpertise in domain-driven design, implementation, and integrationAdvanced skills in a modern programming language and frameworks (ideally C#/.NET Core)Significant experience with CI/CD, declarative deployment, and automated quality/security practicesAbility to educate, consult, and advocate for good tooling and engineering practicesSkilled at identifying architecturally significant requirements, managing trade-offs, and delivering robust solutionsExperience with cloud platforms to drive scalability and reliabilityStrong stakeholder engagement and ability to influence technical directionKo tātou tēnei - Hei hāpai i a koe, me tō whānau |This is us.
