Wagga Wagga City Council has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join our Facilities Management team!Permanent, full-time position.Remuneration of $2,693.28 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $3,231.94 gross per fortnight, plus superannuation (12%). Training and development opportunities.Generous leave entitlements.Your New RoleWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Property Maintenance Officer to oversee and coordinate cleaning and maintenance services across Council-owned buildings and facilities. This role is essential in ensuring that our workplaces and community spaces are clean, safe, and well presented for staff, residents, and visitors.The successful applicant will provide hands-on support with day-to-day maintenance and cleaning tasks, supervise contractors, and manage schedules and resources to maintain high operational standards. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and promoting a culture of safety and care across Council facilities.The Position Will Be Responsible ForSupervise, coordinate and support cleaning and maintenance contractors across Council facilities to ensure work is completed to the required standard and within set timeframes.Assist with developing and maintaining cleaning and maintenance schedules to meet operational needs.Undertake minor maintenance duties eg. Replacing fixtures & fittings, door furniture etc.Undertake hands-on cleaning and minor maintenance duties as required, including mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitising, and waste removal.Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment to ensure appropriate use and availability.Provide guidance and training to staff on safe cleaning practices and WHS compliance.Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation.Prepare and maintain accurate records, checklists, reports, and documentation.Liaise with internal stakeholders to coordinate cleaning requirements and resolve issues effectively.Lead, mentor, and support team members to achieve organisational and community service outcomes.What You Will Need To SucceedThe successful applicant will have:Relevant trade training/certification (eg, certificate III in carpentry, cleaning operations)Demonstrated experience in cleaning, property maintenance, or facility management.Strong understanding of WHS and risk management practices in a facilities environment.Class C Driver’s Licence.General Construction Induction Training Card.Strong customer service skills and ability to work well within a team.What is next?Applications close Sunday, 9 November 2025 at 11.59pm AEDST with interviews to be held in the week commencing Monday, 17 November 2025.If you are interested in this role and would like more information, please contact Daniel Davey, Manager Plant, Fleet & Buildings on 02 6971 9759.As part of the recruitment process, pre-employment checks will be conducted in line with requirements of the position.All selected candidates for this position will be asked to consent to a police check.
