Job Description

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, consumables, and services required for factory production operations. This role ensures timely availability of high-quality items essential for smooth production, especially for SMT, DIP, Assembly, Testing, and Packaging lines used in microelectronics manufacturing. The Purchasing Specialist works closely with engineering, production, warehouse, PMC, and finance departments to maintain cost efficiency, strengthen supplier relationships, and support the overall production workflow.Responsibilities1. Purchasing OperationsProcess purchase requests (PRs) and convert them into purchase orders (POs) accurately and promptly.Purchase electronic components, mechanical parts, tools, and consumables required for production lines.Secure optimal pricing, delivery schedules, and terms.Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time order fulfillment and resolve delays or discrepancies.2. Supplier Sourcing & ManagementIdentify and evaluate local and international suppliers (China, Europe, GCC, etc.).Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuous and reliable supply.Request quotations, compare offers, and conduct supplier assessments.Evaluate supplier performance in terms of quality, price competitiveness, delivery time, and responsiveness.3. Cost Optimization & NegotiationNegotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms to achieve cost savings.4. Coordination with Production & EngineeringCoordinate with production, engineering, and PMC teams to understand material needs, specifications, and timelines.Ensure purchased components meet technical specifications, datasheets, and quality standards.Source equivalent or alternative components during shortages or long lead times.Support engineering teams in preparing BOM-related purchasing requirements.5. Inventory & Material Planning SupportMonitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment to avoid shortages.Work closely with Warehouse and PMC to ensure proper stock rotation and timely receipts.Support implementation of inventory optimization strategies such as safety stock, JIT, or Kanban (if applicable).QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.Experience"3+ years of relevant experience." A technical background would also be a plus.Mandatory experience in electronics manufacturing/procurement (PCBA, network solutions, servers). Understanding and knowledge of component lifecycles and finding alternative sources.Experience conducting supplier audits and supply contracts.Understanding of MRP and its impact on procurement.Experience purchasing electronic components (ICs, PCBs, connectors, resistors, capacitors), mechanical parts, and technical materials.Familiarity with international suppliers and sourcing channels (Alibaba, DigiKey, Mouser, China distributors, etc.).
