Job Objective / PurposeThe Legal Officer is the primary Point of Contact (POC) for legal matters of the company. S/He liaisons with company officers and legal counsel for labor (external law office) and contracts. S/He discusses with employees and external auditors as necessary and ensures compliance to due process with proper documentation.An effective Legal Officer can effectively manage concerns of stakeholders (employees, officers, auditors) while ensuring minimal legal risk for the company and its shareholders.Duties And ResponsibilitiesLabor RelationsCoordinates with other departments to ensure compliance with all legal related permits covering the requirements of the Department of Labor and Employment such as but not limited to Certificate of Registration under DO18-A, Certificates of Compliance both on General Labor Standards and Occupational Safety and Health, and Certificates of no pending case on the different bureaus of the DOLE. Reviews and updates the company’s Code of Conduct. Champions compliance to due process in accordance with the law. Issue notices of disciplinary action for both major and minor cases. Actively participates and summarizes facts of all administrative cases. Provides opinion on applicable disciplinary actions to be imposed on erring employees. Champions the grievance committee and grievance process of the company.Reviews and updates labor contracts of the company in coordination with external labor legal counsel. Represents the company for all DOLE audits and/or conferences before the NLRC.Informs HR Head and Management about major cases requiring their immediate attention or decision/s. Legal expense monitoring Corporate Contracts ManagementAssists the President/COO and the Corporate Secretary in the review of all contracts of the company such as but not limited to client and vendor contracts. Ensures minimal legal risk for the company particularly but not limited to intellectual property and indemnification issues. Coordinates with the Corporate Secretary on matters requiring his attention/signature.
