The organisation manages several initiatives, including the REACH Initiative. The IMPACT team comprises specialists in data collection, management and analysis, GIS and remote sensing. IMPACT was launched at the initiative of ACTED, an international NGO with headquarters based in Paris and presence in thirty countries. The two organizations have a strong complementarity formalized in a global partnership, which allows IMPACT to benefit from ACTED’s operational support in its fields of intervention.

We are currently looking for an Assessment Officer to support our team in Myanmar. Position: Assessment OfficerContract duration: 6 monthsLocation: YangonStarting Date: October 2025Country profileMore than four years after the February 2021 military takeover, the people of Myanmar continue to endure escalating armed conflict, political instability, and exposure to natural hazards. Since the coup, over 3. 5 million people have been forcibly displaced, with widespread restrictions on movement, forced conscription, and insecurity affecting nearly every region. In the past year, the 7.

7 magnitude March earthquake, followed by several episodes of flooding throughout the 2025 monsoon season, have destroyed homes, livelihoods and infrastructure, affecting millions of people and further eroding their coping abilities. Compounding these challenges, global humanitarian funding cuts in 2025 have had dire consequences for Myanmar’s already chronically underfunded humanitarian response plan, leaving many affected communities without life-saving support.

The REACH team – based in both Yangon and Bangkok – has been supporting the humanitarian response in Myanmar since 2022 through the implementation of various assessments, including yearly Multi-Sector Needs Assessments (MSNAs), Joint Market Monitoring Initiative (JMMI), Areas of Concern Assessments (AoC) and other assessments. REACH is continuing to explore new and innovative ways to effectively inform the humanitarian response. FunctionsUnder the line management of the REACH Research Manager, the Assessment Officer will be supporting on the implementation of assessments, including research design, preparation, data collection, analysis, output drafting, dissemination and evaluation stages.

He/she is also responsible for related logistics, partner coordination, reporting and finance requirements and will be required to provide input to the strategic development of IMPACT in Myanmar. The Assessment Officer will play a leading role in the design and implementation of a food security and nutrition monitoring system in Myanmar. The system will triangulate multiple data sources - including secondary data, key informant interviews, direct observations, and household surveys - to monitor trends, detect early warning signs, and inform timely, needs-based programming.

The Assessment Officer will manage all stages of the research cycle, from design and methodology through to output drafting and dissemination. This includes close collaboration with REACH’s Data and Partnerships teams to ensure good planning, high-quality data, and relevant outputs. The position requires a strong background in humanitarian assessments (preferably with food security and nutrition component), analytical thinking, and stakeholder engagement. The Assessment Officer will report to the REACH Research Manager (Yangon-based) and will be hosted by ACTED for all administrative, logistical, and security matters. ResponsibilitiesThe Assessment Officer will be responsible for the following:

Research DESIGNLead on the development of research cycle methodology, developing project TORs in line with partners’ and IMPACT’s requirements and principles;Develop and validate tools for household and key informant data collection;Coordinate with external stakeholder for feedback on research tools and sampling strategy;Ensure field testing of tools and sampling to ensure robustness of approach prior to data collectionIdentify and monitor availability of secondary data sources that can inform the monitoring system. RESEARCH IMPLEMENTATIONDevelop training materials and support the Partnerships team in training enumerators. Oversee data collection (in-person and remote), ensuring daily quality checks.

Ensure adherence to data protection standards and ethical protocols. DATA CLEANING AND ANALYSISOversee data cleaning in collaboration with the Data and Partnerships teams;Provide support to the data team for quantitative analysis;Plan and conduct structure reviews of secondary dataDRAFTING OF RESEARCH PRODUCTSLead on drafting the relevant outputs (factsheets, presentations). Present research findings to relevant stakeholders (humanitarian actors, clusters)Maintain regular communication with country management and IMPACT HQ on progress and deadlines for written products;Work with the Research Manager and CC on dissemination strategy.

EXTERNAL ENGAGEMENTUnder supervision of the Research Manager, maintain active engagement with relevant stakeholders (FS, Nutrition Clusters, regional ICCG)Support partners and external stakeholders in interpreting and using the fingindsEnsure partner involvement at each stage of the research cycle. Knowledge sharing and learning processesDocument lessons learned and best practices. Support internal and external learning sessions with partners and other actors. Propose adjustments to improve the monitoring system over time. Data Confidentiality and ProtectionThe Assessment Officer will maintain the strictest confidentiality on all data collected and related processes, ensuring full compliance with IMPACT’s data protection policy and SOPs.

He/she will actively take measures to prevent the unauthorized sharing of any information and data belonging to IMPACT and its partners, or collected during his/her assignment with IMPACT. RequirementsAcademic Excellent academic qualifications, preferably including a Master degree in relevant discipline;At least 2 years of relevant working experience in humanitarian or development settings;Experience with food security or nutrition assessments, and/or background in food security and nutrition is a strong asset. Strong skills in quantitative methods; experience with mixed methods desirable. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with InDesign highly desirable.

Knowledge of statistical software (R, STATA, or SPSS) is an asset. Communication and soft skills: Excellent communication, presentation, and report writing skills in English. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines. High attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively communicate with other team members, including in a remote set-up;Experience in geographical region Past experience in Myanmar or the South-east Asia region is desirable;Language skills Fluency in English required, competency in Burmese or other Myanmar language is an asset.

Compensation & BenefitsFor this position, salary between 2’160 CHF and 2’280 CHF monthly (before income tax), etc as well as a monthly living allowance of 300 USD, and food allowance NB - IMPACT salaries are strictly determined by our salary grid depending on the grade of the position and the level of education of staff. A location-dependent security and/or isolation adjustment is then applied as a recognition that some staff are required to work in difficult places where living and working conditions are much more difficult than elsewhere.
