Our experienced team members are our most precious asset, having discovered, explored and developed more than 24Moz of gold resources and reserves in Ghana; and having managed Ghana’s largest underground mine.About This RoleResponsible for the overall management of the TSF, including planning, operation, surveillance, and maintenance. He/she ensures the facility meets regulatory standards, manages risks, and provides necessary reports. This includes overseeing routine dam inspections, developing and refining tailings plans, and coordinating with various stakeholders is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient management of the tailings storage facility (TSF) and associated infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the design, construction, operation, and closure of TSFs to ensure structural stability and environmental compliance.Conduct regular inspections, geotechnical and hydrological assessments, and performance reviews to evaluate TSF stability and mitigate risks such as dam breaches or seepage.Implement and maintain a change management system for TSF operations and design modifications.Ensure adherence to GISTM, local regulations and company environmental management systems.Manage TSF monitoring systems, including data collection and communication of results to the EOR, site management, and governance teams.Compile and deliver regular reports, such as monthly performance reviews and quarterly tailings operational reports, to stakeholders like theMaintain and update the Operations, Maintenance, and Surveillance (OMS) Manual and Construction Records Report in collaboration with the EOR.Liaise with the EOR, DOR, construction teams, operations, planning, community and environmental teams to ensure cohesive TSF management.Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, local communities, and Independent Tailings Review Boards (ITRBs) or independent reviewers.Provide technical input to social and sustainability teams for community engagement and regulatory compliance.Develop and maintain emergency response plans (ERPs) and conduct risk assessments to address potential TSF failures.Lead training programs for operational teams to ensure safe and efficient TSF managementEducation, Work Experience & Key CompetenciesBachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental, or a related engineering field.A master’s degree or specialized training in tailings management is advantageous.Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) certification.Must have 5 - 15+ years of experience as a in tailings dam design, construction, operation, or monitoring or in tailings management.Recognized expertise in TSF management, with a consulting background or exposure to diverse operations preferred.MINCOM Processing Officer certificate of competencyStrong knowledge of TSF design, tailings deposition methods, and water management.Familiarity with environmental and regulatory requirements for tailings facilities.Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics, hydrogeology, and dam stability analysis.Proficiency in geotechnical and hydrological modelling software for seepage, slope stability, and liquefaction analysis.Understanding of technical standards (e.g., GISTM, CDA, ANCOLD) and environmental regulations.Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.Valid driver’s license, defensive driving skills.
