Together, let's build a brighter, healthier future for all.Position DescriptionThe Retail Category Executive is responsible for contributing to the strategic leadership, development and execution of retail marketing plans and programs to achieve the assigned categories/portfolios short and long term business objectives. Responsibilities include working with Consumer Marketing in brand strategy development, new product launch execution, developing and executing 5P strategy, planning and analysing consumer and trade promotions, developing and executing Go To Market strategies, providing guidance on customer strategies and initiatives, and leading cross-functional teams.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning and ExecutionAssist in the development and implement brand strategies and marketing plans to support and drive business goals and overall Company strategy Pro-actively assist to develop and adjust plans in response to consumer/shopper/customer trends, competitive threats and category opportunities. Apply creative thinking and generate new ideas to build businessInvestigate new product opportunities by analysing and evaluating relevant data and recommending appropriate solutionsPresent strategic plans and gain alignment with head office senior managementConsumer MarketingWork closely with the Consumer Marketing team to deliver effective customer-centric strategies for the New Zealand business. Lead the execution of promotion plans, SKU management, etc with support from Team Leader. Guide the development of 5P strategies and launch process. Provide local expertise to the Australian-based Consumer Marketing team in the development of brand strategies. Trade Understanding and RelationshipsAssist in the development of effective programs to drive growth within each retail environment, including account specific programs and special packs. Execute and tailor Marketing Events to different trade environmentsConsumer & Shopper UnderstandingAssist in the development of recommendations with strong rationale based on thorough understanding and interpretation of research methodologies and data (eg: Aztec, Homescan Insights)Identify business building ideas and suggestions that create more consumer relevant product promotions and merchandising. Strategic & Creative ThinkingEvaluate impact of competitive media & promotional activities on category / brand strategy. Analyse category, competitive, consumer and retail trends and other available information to develop implications for 5P strategy. Develop innovative solutions / plans to support brand objectives/ strategies. Cross-Organisational RelationshipsLiaise with key stakeholders including the Customer Development Team, CS&L, Finance & the CP Australia subsidiary. Participate in commercial processes for the cross-functional commercial teamEnsure that all cross-functional departments are kept informed of project status within the categoriesLead project teams to launch products and key business initiatives. Exhibit strong teamwork skills by both motivating others to achieve mutual goals and by personally identifying resources to accomplish tasks. Present recommendations and strategy to all levels of the business. Provide effective team leadership and influence of multifunctional teams to achieve objectives. Business & Financial AnalysisAssist in the development of estimates of brand sales and market shares. Develop familiarity and deep understanding of the basic elements of the P&L, especially margins, pricing and business assumptions. Showcase understanding of business fundamentals (i.e. pipeline management, margin by SKU, shelf velocity, etc.) and tools (i.e. Aztec, Ex Factory Data). Assist in development of financials for annual budget and latest estimatesPrice & Promotional ExcellenceSet pricing/promotional strategy, monitor on-going, and make recommendations where necessaryRecommend and execute innovative brand promotional / merchandising strategies and tactics.
