Machine Learning Application EngineerJapan | Flexible Working | AI for Engineering DesignI am helping a fast growing deep tech company hire a Machine Learning Application Engineer in Japan. The business builds advanced 3D deep learning technology used by major automotive, aerospace, energy, and manufacturing companies. They already have customers in Japan, and this role is part of their local expansion.This is a great company, who raised $30m in a Series B round a few months ago, and is now expanding internationally. They're headquartered in Europe, and already work with customers such as Toyota, Hyundai and LG in Asia. They're on growth trajectory and offering equity in the business for the right candidate.This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of AI, simulation, and engineering. You will work directly with engineering teams to solve real design challenges and help them use AI to improve performance and accelerate product development.What you will do• Lead technical projects with Japanese customers• Use Python and deep learning tools to solve engineering problems• Work across CFD, FEA, aerodynamics, thermal optimisation, and design workflows• Build and deploy ML models into real product development environments• Train and support engineers on how to use the platform• Partner with global teams across Europe, the US, and APACWhat you need• MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Applied Mathematics, or Physics• Strong Python skills• Experience with ML or deep learning frameworks• Understanding of CAD, CFD, FEA, or engineering simulation• Strong communication skills• Fluent Japanese and good English• Automotive or simulation industry experience is an advantageWhy candidates choose this role• Choice to be remotely based OR located in an office• Work directly with leading engineering teams in Japan• Modern AI tech stack focused on real world impact• Competitive salary with equity• High learning curve and access to global experts• A stable and well funded business in a high growth marketIf you are based in Japan and want to work on real engineering challenges using AI, feel free to message me directly.
