Job Description

Job PurposeSenior Specialist Trading Contracts provides pre and post deal commercial advice to the business, reviews and approve all draft sales confirmations & amendments, responses to 3rd party contracts and counters, ensuring that all such agreements fully comply with the company’s policy and control framework.COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPSExternal 3rd party clientsInternal Operations, Trading, LegalDuties & ResponsibilitiesProvide pre- and post-deal commercial advice to Front Office (“FO”) on deal construction and the commercial, contractual and financial risks/exposures associated with (proposed) transactions and identify areas of opportunities for value creation as well as value leakageReview and approve draft sales and purchase Confirmations, responses, amendments, and counters, ensuring that all contract correspondence is fit for purposes, consistent with the deal capture system and accurately reflects the terms agreed by the partiesEnsure that all agreements comply with company’s policies including (but not limited to) compliance language, law and jurisdiction, confidentiality, and sovereign immunityHighlight and report any identified deviations or breaches of company’s policy in the Incident Management systemProvide support to FO and other functions related to negotiating, drafting, and reviewing complex agreements including term deals, tenders, storage agreements, and master/side letter agreements with an emphasis on negotiating terms and conditions that maximize value, mitigate contractual exposures, and minimize profit leakage.Provide support and guidance to FO and other functions in resolving contractual disputes with counterparties, liaising with company’s legal department when requiredReview 3rd Party terms and conditions and negotiate amendments as required to minimize contractual exposure and ensure compliance with company’s policy and standards.Act as the gatekeeper for setting up and managing contract clauses and contract templates in the systemMaintain accurate records of all confirmations, contracts, and other records, ensuring that they are stored in accordance with the company’s policySupport Department Manager in onboarding and delivery of training on trading contracts to company new joinersSupport Department Manager to ensure that all company codes of conduct are adhered and operation risks are minimizedAssist with contract and policy compliance initiativesAssist trading team in interpreting contract terms & conditionsSupport establishment and implementation of counterparty physical contract workflow policies and processesCarry out any other reasonable and lawful request directed by the ManagementMaintain and ensure confidentiality at all timesRepresent the company in a positive and professional mannerAdhere to the company’s rules, regulations, procedures and policies at all times Job Specifications (knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviours)EducationBachelor's Degree in Business, Contract Law, Legal, Commerce or related field Master’s degree or professional qualification in the relevant field is an advantageExperience5+ years with trading, operations or legal functions of a trading company 2+ years of trading contracts management preferably with experience in the same roleKnowledgeAdvanced in Legal & Contracts (Law, Incoterms, Tax, Regulation)Practical in Trading Operations Basic in Trading Basic in FinanceAbilitiesAnalytical Attention to detailsCommunication (oral and written) CollaborationWork under pressure NegotiationTeamwork Meet deadlinesManage multiple priorities Problem solvingWORKING CONDITIONSPhysical Effort: MinimalWork Environment: OfficeWorking schedule: As per the company’s policyDISCLAIMERThe purpose, duties, responsibilities, accountabilities, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, abilities, requirements and conditions set out in this job description are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee assigned to this job and are not exhaustive of the tasks the employee may be required to perform.
