About the RoleThe Teller Services Officer position is a full-time, onsite role responsible for delivering high-quality customer service and executing routine financial transactions at a bank branch in Sharjah, UAE. This entry-to-mid-level role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of daily banking activities, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering positive client relationships. The Teller Services Officer acts as the first point of contact for customers, directly impacting customer satisfaction and the bank’s reputation for service excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesAccurately process routine financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, cheque encashments, fund transfers, and payments, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.Provide prompt, courteous, and professional customer service, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and guiding clients on banking products and services.Verify customer identification and documentation in accordance with KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) policies, ensuring strict adherence to compliance standards.Balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift, reconciling discrepancies and maintaining accurate transaction records.Identify and escalate suspicious transactions or potential fraud in line with bank policies and Central Bank of UAE regulations.Promote and cross-sell relevant banking products and services, such as savings accounts, credit cards, and digital banking solutions, based on customer needs.Maintain confidentiality of customer information and uphold the highest standards of data security and privacy.Collaborate with branch colleagues, including Relationship Managers and Operations Officers, to ensure seamless branch operations and exceptional customer experiences.Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay updated on banking procedures, compliance requirements, and new product offerings.Required Experience & SkillsDemonstrated experience in a customer-facing role within the banking or financial services sector, preferably as a teller or cashier.Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail, with proven ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is highly advantageous for serving a diverse clientele.Solid understanding of banking products, services, and regulatory compliance requirements, including KYC and AML procedures.Proficiency in using core banking systems, teller applications, and standard office software (e.g., MS Office Suite).Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure or during high-volume periods.High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented branch environment and adapt to changing priorities.Customer-centric mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing client needs.QualificationsBachelor’s degree or diploma in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.Professional certifications in banking operations or customer service are considered an asset.Prior experience in a teller or cashier role within a financial institution is highly desirable.Familiarity with UAE banking regulations and Central Bank guidelines is advantageous.Tools & TechnologiesCore banking platforms and teller transaction systemsCash counting machines and counterfeit detection devicesCustomer Relationship Management (CRM) softwareMicrosoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Secure document verification and scanning toolsDigital banking platforms and mobile banking applications This role offers the opportunity to build foundational expertise in retail banking operations while developing strong customer service and compliance skills.
