Job SummaryThe Truck Dispatcher will manage the day-to-day coordination of truck drivers, routes, and shipments to optimize efficiency and meet client deadlines. This role requires strong organizational skills, quick decision-making, and a solid understanding of transportation logistics. The successful candidate will play a key part in maintaining smooth operations and minimizing downtime.Key ResponsibilitiesSchedule and assign truck drivers to routes based on load requirements, delivery timelines, and driver availability.Monitor real-time truck locations using GPS and tracking software to ensure on-time performance and handle any deviations.Communicate with drivers, clients, and warehouse teams to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and any changes in schedules.Optimize routes for fuel efficiency, traffic avoidance, and compliance with road regulations.Handle emergencies such as breakdowns, delays, or route changes by providing alternative solutions.Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including logs, fuel usage, and maintenance schedules.Ensure compliance with safety standards, legal requirements (e.g., DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines), and company policies.Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to align dispatch with business needs.Generate reports on dispatch performance, including metrics like on-time delivery rates and fleet utilization.Assist in training new drivers on dispatch procedures and software tools.Qualifications and RequirementsBachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).At least 1 year of experience in truck dispatching, fleet management, or logistics coordination.Familiarity with U.S. transportation regulations, including hours of service, vehicle inspections, and cargo handling.Strong knowledge of U.S. geography, traffic patterns, and major routes.Excellent communication skills for interacting with drivers and clients.Proficiency in dispatch software (e.g., TMS systems), MS Office, and GPS tracking tools.Ability to work in shifts, including evenings or weekends, as needed for 24/7 operations.High attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure.Fluency in English.
