Site Name: Belgium-WavrePosted Date: Nov 20 2025As a member of the Belgium Operations Leadership Team (BOLT), the VP Engineering & Maintenance ensures the availability, reliability, and compliance (EHS/GMP) of all equipment and facilities across our Wavre, Rixensart, and Gembloux sites.In this critical leadership role, you will drive the investments required to sustain performance over time, fully aligned with GSK’s strategy. As the technical duty holder for all engineering and infrastructure matters, you are accountable for maintaining the compliance, safety, and integrity of site assets.You will lead and inspire a team of 1,000 employees, fostering operational excellence across EHS, Quality, Supply, and Cost, while promoting innovation, continuous improvement, and a high-performance culture within a stable and engaging social climate.You will define and execute the Engineering & Maintenance strategy for Belgium, ensuring alignment with GSK Vaccines’ global standards and policies, and contribute to making the Belgian sites safe, reliable, and high performing in line with GSK’s long-term objectives.You will also play a critical role in driving the ongoing cultural transformation: shaping and embedding new ways of working across the organisation, developing capability through coaching, structured upskilling and succession planning, and ensuring high performance through clear priorities and accountability. Success in this role requires strong stakeholder management – building trusted cross‑functional partnerships and securing sponsorship to align strategy, remove barriers and deliver sustainable change.Key Responsibilities Engineering Compliance: Acts as the engineering authority and SME, establishing governance and overseeing TP13/TP25 preparation and risk management. Ensures compliance with engineering standards as well as EHS requirements, including machinery safety and process safety. Responsible for ensuring that all contractors on site comply with EHS and GMP standards. Capital Management & Sustainability: Delivers state-of-the-art end-to-end (including commissioning and qualification) capital projects on time and within budget following PMF (Project Management Framework). Manages energy, water, and waste systems, and drives the Net Zero and nature-positive sustainability roadmap, including target setting, reporting, and audits. Automation: Leads all automation activities across the site, including OT (Operating Technology) architecture, application performance (PEMS/AMS/A²/Siemens/Oceasoft/etc.), obsolescence management, and troubleshooting. Serves as the engineering authority for automation and manages the Capital Automation Team. This team provides technical support and guidance for both production and project teams, ensuring reliable and optimized operation of all automation systems. Discipline Engineering: Owns and deploys the asset lifecycle management strategy for equipment and utility systems, from initiation to decommissioning, including obsolescence management. Manages a team of experts providing production engineering and capital project support, including reliability, discipline engineers, and master data. Production Engineering: Responsible for the management of all production equipment across manufacturing buildings, including calibration, metrology, and maintenance. Oversees the site spare parts department and custom part fabrication workshops, ensuring availability and reliability of critical components. Drives minor improvement projects (SMR) to maintain equipment reliability, compliance, and operational efficiency. Facilities & Utilities: Responsible for site infrastructure and utilities, including primary energy production (air, water, steam, electricity) and ongoing maintenance. Supervises hard and soft services contractors, infrastructure, and electrical technical authorities. Accountable for the maintenance of administrative offices, as well as fire protection and pest control systems. Rixensart & Gembloux Site Engineering: Responsible for the overall engineering of the Rixensart and Gembloux sites, covering all R&D and Global Supply Chain buildings, as well as site utilities and facilities. Ensures the reliability and compliance of infrastructure and energy services, oversees CAPEX and divestment projects, and manages contractors to guarantee safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.Basic QualificationsMasters degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar disciplineMinimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience in engineering, manufacturing, or project management rolesExperience in managing large teamsDemonstrated experience in developing people and capability building, including coaching, structured upskilling and succession planningProven stakeholder management: ability to build trusted cross-functional partnerships and secure sponsorship to deliver complex changeInspiring leader able to gain buy-in and followershipAbility to lead under pressureExcellence in performance managementGood financial understanding and ability to manage a substantial budgetKnowledge of cGxP requirementsStrong influencing and negotiation skillsAbility to handle multiple issues and prioritise effectively.
