Pacific Life Re has announced its support for Endeavour, a Bermuda charity that empowers youth through hands-on STEAM education integrated with sailing.

A spokesperson said, “Pacific Life Re is proud to announce its support of Endeavour, a Bermuda-registered charity dedicated to building self-confidence and life skills in young people through experiential learning that integrates science, technology, engineering, arts, and math [STEAM] education with sailing.

“By supporting Endeavour, Pacific Life Re will help provide hands-on learning opportunities that foster critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills both on and off the water.

“Now in its eleventh year, Endeavour’s STEAM Education through Sailing Programme engages every 11- to 12-year-old student across Bermuda, fostering confidence, curiosity, and environmental awareness. By partnering with schools throughout the island, Endeavour ensures that every student has the opportunity to participate.

“Students and teachers from the following schools took part during the 2024-2025 school year:

Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning
Bermuda Homeschool Network
Bermuda Institute
Dellwood Middle School
Francis Patton School
Mount Saint Agnes
Purvis Primary
Saltus Grammar School
Sandys Secondary Middle School
Somersfield Academy
The Bermuda High School
Warwick Academy
Whitney Institute Middle School

“In the 2025-2026 school year, students from Elliot Primary, Harrington Sound Primary and Chatmore British International School will also participate.

“Over five days, students learn about different STEAM topics applicable to sailing during the programme, including:

Sailing Geometry & Evolution of the Rig

Wind Power & Wind Measurement
Mechanical Advantage
Marine Debris & Its Impact on the Environment

“Each week concludes with an interactive scavenger hunt at the National Museum of Bermuda, where students learn more about Bermuda’s rich maritime heritage.”

“Pacific Life Re is delighted to support Endeavour in their mission to empower Bermuda’s young people,” said David Howell, Chief Executive Officer, Pacific Life Re. “We believe that investing in education and skills development are the foundation for a brighter future for the next generation. Endeavour’s innovative approach to combining STEAM learning with sailing reflects our shared commitment to growth, inclusion, and community impact.”

“We’re incredibly grateful to welcome Pacific Life Re as a supporter of Endeavour, who share our belief in the power of experiential learning to transform lives in an inclusive, safe and supportive environment,” said Jennifer Pitcher, Endeavour’s Executive Director. “Their support enables us to continue delivering hands-on learning experiences that inspire young people from all backgrounds, strengthen their understanding of STEAM while deepening their connection to our island’s maritime heritage and marine environment.”

The spokesperson said, “Since launching in 2015, Endeavour has engaged more than 8,000 young people across Bermuda through experiential education, inspiring curiosity, confidence, and interest in STEAM and maritime career pathways. Pacific Life Re’s support will help sustain and expand these transformative opportunities for generations to come.
