Building A Pollution-Resilient Gut So how can you protect your gut when the air outside isn’t on your side? Experts unanimously stress the importance of diet, hydration, and mindful lifestyle habits. On the occasion of the song’s 150th anniversary, “let all of us countrymen take this firm resolve that we will keep Mother India endowed with ‘Sujala’ (good water), ‘sufala’ (good or fine fruit) and ‘sukhda’ (bestowed with happiness), in accordance with the spirit of this song. Vande Mataram,” Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi. The president also recounted how, in the nineteenth century, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay composed Vande Mataram against the backdrop of the Sannyasi rebellion against British rule, which, since the 1905 Swadeshi movement, has become a source of inspiration. “Since then, this song of reverence to Mother India has remained a proclamation of the emotional consciousness and unity of our countrymen, and it will continue to be so,” the president said, adding that after independence, the country reverently adopted it as the national song. US Comm Secy cites India while defending Trump's tariff powers amid SC case

Washington, Nov 7 (PTI) US President Donald Trump used tariffs as a diplomatic tool to “buy justice” and had urged India to “stop buying oil” from Russia to help end the Ukraine war, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has claimed. Lutnick made the remarks in an interview with Fox News on Thursday, defending Trump’s use of tariff powers as the Supreme Court heard arguments on its legality. The court is examining whether it was lawful for Trump to use emergency powers under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose sweeping reciprocal tariffs on several countries, including India. “The president is using these taxes to buy justice; he is using the tariffs to end the war in Russia and Ukraine, where he has told India ‘stop buying oil,'” Lutnick said, adding that restricting these powers (IEEPA) would weaken Trump’s ability to make “the world and the US a safer place.” Expressing confidence, he said that the US President will win the case because “these powers protect America”. Trump imposed 25 per cent reciprocal tariffs on India and an additional 25 per cent levies for Delhi’s purchases of Russian oil, bringing the total duties imposed on India to 50 per cent. India had described the US action as “unfair, unjustified and unreasonable”. In September, the Trump administration told the US Supreme Court that it imposed tariffs against India for purchasing Russian energy products “to deal with a preexisting national emergency regarding Russia’s war in Ukraine” and as a “crucial aspect” of the President’s push for peace in the country. Trump has also been claiming for the past few days that Delhi has assured him that it will significantly reduce its oil imports from Russia. It did not give further details.The Japanese government also said today that North Korea had fired what could be a ballistic missile.Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi told reporters that the missile apparently fell outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, with no damage to planes or ships reported, Kyodo news agency said.North Korea as per the Seoul-based Yonhap, last fired a short-range ballistic missiles northeastward on October 22 ahead of South Korea’s hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and US President Donald Trump’s visit to the country.It also fired multiple artillery rockets less than an hour prior to the visit by US defence chief Pete Hegseth to the Demilitarized Zone, separating both the Koreas.Meanwhile, Pyongyang has vowed to take action to counter sanctions imposed on Tuesday by the US President Donald Trump’s administration.The US Treasury Department announced earlier this week that it had imposed sanctions on eight North Korean individuals and two entities for their role in laundering funds stolen through illicit cyber activities. The department said that the individuals were “state-sponsored hackers,” whose illicit operations were conducted “to fund the regime’s nuclear weapons programme.”Previously, on November 3, the US State Department had said that it would request the UN Security Council committee to impose sanctions on seven ships accused of smuggling North Korean coal and iron ore to China.North Korea views its missile and nuclear programs as crucial for deterring any potential attacks on its regime. Groww IPO GMP Today According to market observers, unlisted shares of Billionbrains Garage Ventures Ltd are currently trading at Rs 110 apiece in the grey market, which is a 10.00% premium (or GMP) at Rs 10 over the upper IPO price of Rs 100, indicating mild listing gains for investors. The GMP was nearly 13% on Thursday and 14% on the first day of bidding on Tuesday. According to Arihant Capital, India’s retail investor base is projected to nearly double from the current 6.6-7.2 crore to about 12–13 crore in the coming years, positioning Groww favourably to benefit from this expansion. With a digital reach spanning 98.36% of Indian pin codes and a leadership position among active NSE users, the firm said Groww is well placed to capitalise on the country’s growing investor participation. The brokerage highlighted that Groww’s strong technology platform and asset-light business model are expected to support profitability. Its revenue has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 85% between FY23 and FY25, while profit margins have widened to 45%. “At the upper price band of Rs 100, the issue is valued at a P/E of 33.8x, based on an EPS of Rs 2.96. We recommend a ‘Subscribe for listing gains’ rating,” Arihant Capital noted. Anand Rathi, meanwhile, said Groww’s focus on trust, transparency, and financial inclusion remains central to its growth strategy. The brokerage added that the company plans to expand organically through customer referrals and operating leverage, while also diversifying its product offerings — including margin trading facility (MTF), commodity derivatives, API-based trading, wealth management, and bonds — to boost customer engagement and wallet share. “Considering these factors, the IPO appears fully priced and is rated ‘Subscribe – Long Term’,” Anand Rathi said. Groww IPO: Opening, Closing, Allotment, Listing Dates The IPO was opened on November 4 and will be closed on November 7. Its allotment will be finalised on November 10, while the stock listing is scheduled to take place on November 12 on both BSE and NSE. Groww IPO: More Details Billionbrains Garage Ventures on Monday garnered a little over Rs 2,984 crore from anchor investors. The company’s Rs 6,632 crore IPO would conclude on November 7. The firm has fixed a price band of Rs 95-100 per share for its IPO, targeting a valuation of over Rs 61,700 crore (about USD 7 billion). The IPO comprises a fresh issue of equity shares worth Rs 1,060 crore along with an Offer-for-Sale (OFS) component of 55.72 crore equity shares. The company, which is backed by marquee investors such as Peak XV, Tiger Capital, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, plans to use proceeds from the IPO to invest in technology development and business expansion. Of the fresh issuance, Rs 225 crore will be used for brand building and performance marketing activities, and Rs 205 crore will be invested in Groww Creditserv Technology Pvt Ltd (GCS), the NBFC arm, to augment its capital base. Additionally, Rs 167.5 crore will be infused into Groww Invest Tech Pvt Ltd (GIT) to fund its margin trading facility business, while Rs 152.5 crore has been earmarked to strengthen cloud infrastructure. The balance will be utilised for funding inorganic growth through acquisitions and for general corporate purposes. Headquartered in Bengaluru, Groww filed draft papers in May with the markets regulator, Sebi, for an IPO through a confidential pre-filing route and received Sebi’s approval in August. Groww opted for the confidential pre-filing route, which allows it to withhold public disclosure of IPO details under the DRHP until later stages. This route is gaining traction among Indian firms aiming for flexibility in their IPO plans. Founded in 2016, Groww emerged as India’s largest stockbroker, with over 12.6 million active clients and a market share of over 26 per cent as of June 2025. FII Shorts Pressure Domestic Buyers Despite Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) buying more than Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold (Rs 5,283 crore DII buying vs Rs 3,263 crore FII selling on Thursday), markets continue to drift lower, said Dr. V.K. Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services. “Huge FII shorting is overpowering DII and retail buying. Sustained selling by FIIs, as they rotate funds to cheaper markets, has emboldened them. Short covering could trigger a reversal, but immediate catalysts are missing,” he noted. Vijayakumar suggested that this phase is ideal for investors to rebalance portfolios toward fairly valued large-cap stocks, especially in banking and pharmaceuticals, where growth prospects remain strong. Technical Outlook The Nifty’s failure to sustain above the 25,630–25,650 zone has exposed key support levels, said Anand James, Chief Market Strategist at Geojit Financial Services. “The index now faces downside risk near the 50-day SMA at 25,200 and the Bollinger Band lower bound at 25,088. However, the 25,400 region could offer a regrouping opportunity for bulls,” James said. Global Markets: Tech Rout Deepens Global equities remained under pressure as investors questioned whether the AI-driven rally had run too far. Tech-heavy indices were on track for their steepest weekly losses in seven months. The Nasdaq fell 1.9% overnight, bringing its weekly loss to 2.8%, while Japan’s Nikkei slid 1.8%, heading for a 4.7% weekly drop, its worst since March. South Korea’s Kospi declined 3.3% for the week. SoftBank Group plunged over 20% this week, while Bitcoin, a proxy for tech sentiment, dropped 8% to $101,092. We have to give respect and honour to it.” He added that his intention was not to ignite any controversy and that he was withdrawing from the debate entirely. When asked again if he was formally retracting his statement, he said, “No, no. Thing is, unnecessarily it has been made a controversy. I don’t want to continue this. I don’t want to debate on this more than this. Vande Mataram and Jana Gana Mana both are our nationally respected songs.” Reiterating his position, the BJP MP said, “Jana Gana Mana is our national anthem, we must accept the truth and follow that. This is my stand. I don’t want to continue this debate.” The controversy erupted after Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri claimed at a Rashtriya Ekta Nadige event in Honnavar that Jana Gana Mana was composed to welcome the British and that there had once been a strong chorus to make Vande Mataram the national anthem.
