Paul Pierce Spills the Beans on Viral Draymond Green Trash Talk Moment

Paul Pierce has lived through some amazing moments through his 19-year NBA career. He went toe-to-toe with Kobe Bryant, won an NBA championship and received plenty of other accolades. However, arguably his most viral moment came during his final season in the NBA. Unfortunately, it wasn’t one of his finest as Draymond Green was trash talking him. Several years after the fact, Pierce reveals his side of things. Paul Pierce will always be a Boston Celtics legend. However, the last four seasons of his career featured stints with three different teams; the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers. In his final NBA season with the Clippers, he was far from his former All-Star self. Pierce announced the 2016-17 NBA season would be the last of his career. It would’ve been amazing if he were able to receive a farewell tour similar to Bryant. Of course, Pierce was at a different stage of his career than the Los Angeles Lakers legend. While Bryant was a starter in his final year, Pierce came off the bench, averaging just 11.1 minutes per game. Regardless, he still brought his experience and leadership to a Clippers team looking to compete for a championship. In a game against the Golden State Warriors, Pierce wanted to ignite a fire within his team, but could have never anticipated what would come from that decision. “Golden State Warriors were like the big brother to the Clippers,” Pierce said on Club Shay Shay. “I’m coming over there like the OG. Y’all ain’t about to be punking us.” At the time, the Clippers still had a core consisting of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Pierce understood that if Griffin got going, Los Angeles would be difficult to stop, so that’s what he tried to do. “I’m trying to put a battery in Blake because Draymond is trying to go at Blake, but Blake’s an All-Star too. And [Draymond] was like, ‘Shut up, you ain’t Kobe. I guess I didn’t hear until after the game because he said it under the basket where the mic picked it up, so everybody on TV heard it,” Pierce revealed. It didn’t help that the internet would turn Pierce into the laughing stock of the league shortly after. However, the NBA legend doesn’t hold any animosity toward Green in the slightest. “I give it to Draymond. He’s one of the all-time trash talkers. He got me,” Pierce proclaimed. It’s great that Pierce can laugh about it now rather than hold a grudge. Greatness recognizes greatness, which is exactly what Pierce has been able to do.

Thompson Nicola Ups and Downs Society raising awareness during Canadian Down Syndrome Week (Kamloops)

With Canadian Down Syndrome Week underway, the Thompson Nicola Ups and Downs Society is aiming to raise awareness for members of the Down syndrome community. TNUDS president Dave Ralph said the society aims to create inclusivity for people with Down syndrome in the community. “Work opportunities to find jobs, just opportunities to be recognized and be part of the community — it’s pretty important,” Ralph said. “We’re wanting to create awareness to support essential programs, that include counselling or a variety of programs and services for people with Down syndrome and their families and parents.” He said about 25 families are involved with the society in the region, and programs can include child play therapy, support meetings for parents and various opportunities for families to participate in. He said many people with Down Syndrome are heavily involved wit the Special Olympics, as well. Canadian Down Syndrome Weeks runs from Oct. 19 to Oct. 25, and this year’s theme is “Improve Our Support System,” which aims to advocate for better policies, services and funding to strengthen systems that enable people with Down Syndrome to live inclusive lives. Ralph said small acts of engagement with members of the community — even as small as saying hello on the street — can make a big difference. “People with Down syndrome are like everybody else — they want to be included in the community, they want to be part of what’s going on and they want to be recognized,” he said. People seeking more information are asked to check out the TNUDS Facebook page or to email Ralph.

Shih me dilemë a do e mbrojnë dot ata që e nisën, ndërkohë beteja mes ndërkombëtarëve dhe vendasve është se kush do e drejtojë.” / abcnews.al

Jeri Ryan Thinks Star Trek: Voyager Made Just Three Big Mistakes With Seven Of Nine

"Star Trek: Voyager" infamously struggled with ratings for its first three seasons. It was doing okay, but it was nowhere nearly as popular as its immediate antecedents "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." The show's producers tried out several desperate measures to boost ratings, but they rarely worked. For instance, the regular use of a sun-drenched bikini beach holodeck program didn't set Trekkies' hearts aflame. Eventually, the showrunners figured the series needed a character shake-up to attract attention. They wrote off the gentle, kind, moral character of Kes (Jennifer Lien), and replaced her with a comely Borg names Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan). Ryan was possessed of magazine model looks, and the costumers outfitted her with an elaborate corset and skin-tight catsuit, clearly a desperate ploy to add sex appeal to the series. Strangely, though, the ploy worked. Seven of Nine proved to be very popular, and ratings went up. What's more, the show's many writers loved the idea of having a super-genius, semi-mechanical former Borg on the series, and they couldn't stop writing stories for her. Seven quickly became the central star of "Voyager," supplanting most of her co-workers in screentime. Yes, some of the other cast members resented the popularity of Ryan and of her character. Ryan loved playing the role, even if she hated that damned corset. Seven of Nine stayed through the end of "Voyager's" seven seasons, expanding and growing all the while. She slowly became more human, and even fell in love. Seven returned to "Star Trek" in 2022 as part of "Star Trek: Picard." By the end of that series, she had become the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise-G. Jeri Ryan recently attended MegaCon in Orlando, Florida to talk about her career, and revealed some issues she had with the "Star Trek" writers' treatment of Seven. Indeed, she took note of three palpable mistakes with the character, two of them large, one of them small. The small one: how do you pronounce "futile?"

10 Best Movies On HBO Max, According To Rotten Tomatoes

Produced in-house by HBO Films, "Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds" is a remarkably intimate look into the relationship between one of the entertainment industry's most beloved mother-daughter duos. The documentary is, of course, quite bittersweet and at times tragic, as it was unknowingly filmed during the months leading up to the deaths of both Fisher and Reynolds in 2016. Fisher, 60 years old at the time, passed away on December 27, reportedly due to a drug overdose. The "Star Wars" actor had lived with a narcotics addiction disorder for decades, as well as manic-depressive disorder, the latter of which is a topic Fisher and Reynolds discuss in "Bright Lights." The day after Fisher's passing, Reynolds died of a stroke at the age of 84. During this quietly precious period in their lives together (the pair were as close as a mother and daughter could be, even living next door to one another). With Fisher headed into production on "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" while trying to take care of her aging yet vibrant mother, the two candidly discuss Reynolds' declining health, the reality of growing up in a home so immersed in the entertainment industry, and how their relationship had grown stronger even — or perhaps especially — as they confronted their individual struggles. Though it was released just 10 days after Reynolds' passing, "Bright Lights" is an honest yet joyful celebration of two strong women who were made even stronger through their love for one another. Los Angeles Angels to hire Kurt Suzuki as manager, reports say

The Los Angeles Angels are hiring Kurt Suzuki as their next manager, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday. Suzuki, 42, has spent the past three seasons as a special assistant to Los Angeles general manager Perry Minasian. The Baldwin High graduate from Maui spent the final two seasons of his 16-year MLB playing career as a catcher with the Angels. He retired after the 2022 season. Future Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Albert Pujols reportedly met with Minasian in St. Louis earlier this month for “preliminary discussions,” but the two sides could not come to an agreement on length or amount of a potential contract, according to The Athletic. The New York Post reported that talks broke down due to differences regarding “coaches, resources, and compensation.” Los Angeles declined the option on former manager Ron Washington’s contract for 2026. The team also said it was beginning the process of hiring a new manager “immediately,” marking the end of Ray Montgomery’s interim stint. The Angels (72-90) finished last in the American League West for the second straight season, 18 games behind the division champion Seattle Mariners. Suzuki batted .255 with 143 homers and 730 RBIs in 1,635 career games. Suzuki has the most games played, at-bats, hits, home runs and RBIs of any major leaguer born in Hawaii. He won a World Series ring playing for the Washington Nationals in 2019. He played collegiately at Cal State Fullerton, just 6 miles north of Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

Paris prosecutor says stolen Louvre jewels worth an estimated $143 million (World)

The Paris prosecutor said Tuesday that crown jewels stolen in a dramatic weekend Louvre heist were worth an estimated 88 million euros ($143 million CAD), but that the monetary estimate doesn’t include their historical value to France. Prosecutor Laure Beccuau, whose office is leading the investigation, said about 100 investigators are now involved in the police hunt for the suspects and gems after Sunday’s theft from the world’s most-visited museum. “The wrongdoers who took these gems won’t earn 88 million euros if they had the very bad idea of disassembling these jewels,? she said in an interview with broadcaster RTL. ?We can perhaps hope that they’ll think about this and won’t destroy these jewels without rhyme or reason.? Also Tuesday, France's culture minister said that the security apparatus installed at the Louvre worked properly during the theft. Questions have arisen about the Louvre security — and whether security cameras might have failed — after thieves rode a basket lift up the Louvre’s facade, forced a window, smashed display cases and fled with priceless Napoleonic jewels on Sunday morning. “The Louvre museum’s security apparatus did not fail, that is a fact," the minister, Rachida Dati, told lawmakers in the National Assembly. "The Louvre museum’s security apparatus worked.” Dati said she launched an administrative inquiry that comes in addition to a police investigation to ensure full transparency ito what happened. She did not offer any details about how the thieves managed to carry out their heist given that the cameras were working. But she described it as a painful blow for the nation. The robbery was “a wound for all of us," she said. "Why? Because the Louvre is far more than the world’s largest museum. It’s a showcase for our French culture and our shared patrimony.” Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said Monday that the museum's alarm was triggered when the window of the Apollo Gallery was forced. Police officers arrived on site two or three minutes after they were called by an individual that witnessed the scene, he said on LCI television. Officials said the heist lasted less than eight minutes in total, including less than four minutes inside the Louvre. Nuñez did not disclose details about video surveillance cameras that may have filmed the thieves around and in the museum pending a police investigation. “There are cameras all around the Louvre,” he said. Sunday’s theft focused on the gilded Apollo Gallery, where the Crown Diamonds are displayed. Alarms brought Louvre agents to the room, forcing the intruders to bolt, but the robbery was already over. Eight objects were taken, according to officials: a sapphire diadem, necklace and single earring from a matching set linked to 19th-century French queens Marie-Amélie and Hortense; an emerald necklace and earrings from the matching set of Empress Marie-Louise, Napoleon Bonaparte’s second wife; a reliquary brooch; and Empress Eugénie’s diadem and her large corsage-bow brooch, a prized 19th-century imperial ensemble.
