Mark Clattenburg delivers opinion on Cody Gakpo’s potential penalty in 3-2 Liverpool loss

Gakpo has had a bit of bad luck for Liverpool this season. Three times he hit the post in the clash with Manchester United, and his play around the box against Brentford did not offer much more. He was subbed off just after the hour mark, with Federico Chiesa taking his place. Still, things might have played out differently if he had been given a penalty when it looked like there might have been contact in the box. But even though a lot of fans felt it was a clear penalty, Clattenburg thinks Simon Hooper got it right. The former Premier League referee explained on the Beyond the Back Four Podcast: “I’ve analysed this many times, Nathan Collins goes to make a challenge for the ball and his leg is already planted. “I believe what Cody Gakpo does [is that] he anticipates the contact, and while he anticipates the contact, Nathan Collins’ leg doesn’t make a second movement towards Cody Gakpo’s leg. “And, because he anticipates the contact, he jumps up, and as he jumps up, his arms go above his head, and that’s normally one of the signs that referees are looking at.” He added: “If a player naturally falls, he would automatically put his arms out to break the fall because he’s not expecting to fall. “Very rare you’ll see a situation where a player deliberately puts his hands in the air to break his fall, so therefore, this is one of the signs that referees look at if a player is anticipating contact and trying to win a penalty. “Sometimes referees don’t get the praise they should. I think this is a very, very good decision.” Cody Gakpo will need to show more if he wants to keep his place in Liverpool’s starting XI Even though Gakpo is the only experienced left winger in the squad, that alone will not guarantee him a spot in the line-up. Chiesa came on for him against Brentford, and while Slot has preferred inverted wingers in the past, it is clear that approach is not delivering results this season. Gakpo has had plenty of chances to make an impact, but he has too often come up short when it matters. If things do not improve, he could find himself out of Slot’s regular starting plans. This would be far from what anyone expected after Diaz moved to Bayern Munich and Mohamed Salah took on more responsibility up front. No one between Salah and Gakpo has managed to pick up the slack so far, and if things don’t change, Liverpool could face another disappointing campaign soon.

Rangers duo battle for Ibrox return chance as one club hero set to join Danny Rohl's inner sanctum

After a Europa League defeat to Brann in Norway, Rangers kickstarted the Danny Rohl era with a much-needed home win against Kilmarnock at Ibrox. It remarkably was the club’s first home league victory of the campaign. Something which predecessor Russell Martin didn’t manage once in the league throughout his ill-fated tenure at Govan. The club are up to fifth in the table as a result of their triumph, but know they have a long way to go if they are going to have any hopes of sneaking back into the title race. Danny Rohl’s arrival signals a fresh start for both the Rangers players, who are fighting to impress the new manager, and the coaching team. It’s believed the former Sheffield Wednesday boss wants to bring in at least one senior coach with expertise and knowledge of the Glasgow club, and according to Record Sport, the two main contenders are Steven Davis and Neil McCann at this stage. Davis played for Rangers between 2008 and 2012 after joining on loan from Fulham. He was a part of the three-title winning squads and five cup-winning teams while also reaching a UEFA Cup final in his first stint. He returned in 2019 and played until retirement in 2022 - winning one further league title and a cup - making him one of the last remaining players from the previous title triumph. He’s considered an option, having taken interim charge of the club for two matches after Michael Beale’s exit. Similarly, Neil McCann, a legendary winger for the football club, is also under consideration. He admitted recently he loved his time as assistant under Barry Ferguson towards the end of last season, and was heavily linked with the post when Kevin Muscat was considered favourite to be next manager. Former Ibrox captain Lee Wallace, who is now at Hearts, has also been recommended to Rohl by his former Sheffield Wednesday player Josh Windass. Rohl is thought to be open to a number of different options at this point and has not yet ruled anything out. He is currently taking a few days to look at his options, consider all the candidates, where they fit into his backroom team and if they are available. Danny Rohl feels it’s important to have someone with a background and knowledge of Rangers football club in his coaching team as he learns the ropes of Scottish football. He said in a previous press conference: “I will try to bring a former Rangers player with a good background here as well because for me it’s important to take this advantage from a guy who knows Rangers, who knows the league, why should I not use this? This would be a perfect set up for me. “I have three or four candidates in mind. I collect the information, I think it’s also important to have the right person to your coaching team but I think at the end we will make a good decision.” Rohl has so far appointed Sascha Lense and Matthias Kaltenbach. Lense will be men's first-team performance manager, while Kaltenbach, 10 years his junior, is assistant coach. Both held the same position during their time at Sheffield Wednesday before Rohl’s decision to quit the Hillsborough outfit. They were both present for the first training session last Wednesday and are expected to play an important role in the team’s mission to climb the Premiership table. Dalton approves three-year contract for new Town Manager Eric Anderson

DALTON — Eric Anderson will take over as town manager next month. The Select Board entered negotiations with Anderson on Monday night, agreeing to a three-year contract with a salary of $142,500. Anderson will start Nov. 17 and will be working with interim Town Manager Henry H. “Terry” Williams III for a training period. “I’m looking forward to starting,” Anderson said. “It’s a beautiful place to live … The Town Hall’s got a great staff and I’m looking forward to working with them.” The town has been looking for a full-time town manager to take over after Williams departs. Williams’ contract runs to Nov. 21. Anderson has held his current position as town administrator for Andover, Conn., for six years. He also has served leadership roles in the military and was an elected official on the Andover Planning and Zoning Commission, and briefly on the town's Select Board. The posted salary range for the position was $135,000 to $155,000. Former Town Manager Tom Hutcheson's salary for fiscal year 2025 was $128,627, according to Williams. Before Hutcheson, former Town Manager Kenneth Walto earned $114,815 a year when he retired. The Select Board unanimously selected Anderson as full-time town manager on Sept. 30. Three finalists — Lisa Blackmer, Jonathan Elwell and Anderson — were interviewed by four of the five Select Board members on Sept. 29, with member Marc Strout recusing himself. At their meeting on Oct. 6, the Select Board extended Williams’ contract to Nov. 21. It was the second time in two weeks that Williams’ contract had been extended. The town has been seeking a full-time town manager since Hutcheson announced his retirement in February. The Select Board appointed Williams to the interim town manager position on June 2. During the meeting on Monday, Williams also reported that Air Partners installed four air monitoring stations on Saturday for testing related to the Berkshire Concrete Corp. sand mine. There is a monitor behind the town garage on Gulf Road, and the other three are at residential properties that are adjacent to the sand mine. The monitors will be in place for a nine-month period with a midterm and final report, according to Select Board member Tony Pagliarulo. The Dalton Clean Air Coalition and Clean Air Committee continue to push for stronger oversight of Berkshire Concrete Corp. — which is owned by Petricca Industries — whose sand-mining operation off Florence and Prospect streets and Raymond Drive has drawn renewed complaints about health, safety and quality of life from nearby residents.

ServiceNow and Nvidia say their new open-source model is built for security - here's why

Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. ZDNET's key takeaways ServiceNow and Nvidia have launched a new open-source AI model. It's designed to build custom agents and optimize security.Despite ample hype, many businesses aren't seeing ROI from AI. Software company ServiceNow announced on Tuesday that it's expanding its partnership with US chipmaker Nvidia with the launch of a new open-source AI model named Apriel 2.0, designed specifically to help businesses build custom agents. Also: Claude can integrate with Excel now - and gets 7 new connectors If you're new here, agents are AI systems that can access an array of digital tools and perform multistep tasks with little to no direct human oversight. In a press release, ServiceNow said that Apriel 2.0 blends "enhanced reasoning" with multimodal input capabilities (meaning it can process text, audio, images, and other data formats), and that it "matches the reasoning and accuracy of much larger models at a fraction of the size." What it offers Apriel 2.0 is the successor to the Apriel Nemotron 15B, another open-source, enterprise-facing model that debuted earlier this year. It's built upon Nvidia's Nemotron open model architecture, meaning developers can access its underlying code to build their own agents on top of it. It also operates within the ServiceNow AI Platform, allowing current ServiceNow customers to transfer their current data governance policies into the new model. "The model will run within ServiceNow's secure, compliance-certified infrastructure," Joe Davis, Executive Vice President, Platform Engineering and AI, told ZDNET. "Because it will be embedded in [Now LLM], Apriel 2.0 will automatically inherit each organization's existing permissions and audit trails, ensuring AI outputs stay within the same policies that already govern their business. Like the Apriel Nemotron 15B, Apriel 2.0 -- which is expected to go into production starting in the first quarter of next year -- will be available via Hugging Face. Security as a selling point ServiceNow and Nvidia are selling their new model to businesses as a safer and more secure alternative to the general-purpose agentic AI tools that are currently on the market. Also: 50 AI agents get their first annual performance review - 6 lessons learned "Open models give enterprises the transparency and control they need to specialize AI to their data, workflows, and trust standards," Kari Briski, Vice President of Generative AI for Enterprise at Nvidia, said in a statement. The companies are also specifically hoping to sell the new model to federal agencies and businesses working in tightly regulated industries like healthcare, finance, and telecommunications. The industry is responding to security concerns elsewhere as well; for example, Snowflake recently added MCP support to its AI solutions for finance. Many businesses seem to be warming up to the idea of using agents, but mostly this has been limited to narrow, low-stakes tasks. Also: Why open source may not survive the rise of generative AI Agents also present their own data privacy and security risks: greater agency, for example, usually requires users to hand over greater quantities of their proprietary data, leading to the danger of that data being accidentally leaked or even inexplicably deleted. According to ServiceNow's press release, Apriel 2.0 combines "efficient performance with responsible data vetting, safety guardrails and transparency controls," making it a safer option for federal agencies and businesses working across regulated sectors. Where's the ROI? The news arrives at a time when many businesses are struggling to achieve measurable ROI with their internal AI initiatives, and when consumer AI chatbots seem to be presenting, in some cases, more cybersecurity risks than tangible increases to employee productivity. Also: 3 tips for navigating the open-source AI swarm - 4M models and counting Meanwhile, agents have become a major focus for tech developers looking to turn a profit on AI. The market research firm Gartner recently forecasted that as much as half of all internal decision-making processes within businesses could be (at least partially) automated by agents within the next two years. Kim Kardashian Shares Update After Brain Aneurysm Diagnosis

Emilia Clarke's Brain Aneurysm Emilia Clarke filmed battle scenes for Game of Thrones, but in 2019, she published an essay in The New Yorker titled "A Battle for My Life."Having a bad headache at the gym, "I reached the toilet, sank to my knees, and proceeded to be violently, voluminously ill," the actress wrote. "Meanwhile, the pain—shooting, stabbing, constricting pain—was getting worse. At some level, I knew what was happening: my brain was damaged."She was taken to the hospital for a brain scan."The diagnosis was quick and ominous: a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening type of stroke, caused by bleeding into the space surrounding the brain," the Emmy nominee added. "I’d had an aneurysm, an arterial rupture."Emilia had immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm, calling the pain "unbearable." While she was recovering, she continued, she experienced aphasia and was "muttering nonsense."A week later, "the aphasia passed," Emilia added, and she left the hospital a month after being admitted. At a 2013 brain scan, she learned a growth "doubled in size" and that she needed surgery again."When they woke me, I was screaming in pain," she wrote. "The procedure had failed. I had a massive bleed and the doctors made it plain that my chances of surviving were precarious if they didn’t operate again. This time they needed to access my brain in the old-fashioned way—through my skull."Thankfully, Emilia shared, she's now "at a hundred per cent."

GhIS advocates value engineering to curb infrastructure budget overruns

By Isaac Arkoh Cape Coast, Oct. 28, GNA – The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) has called for the immediate integration of Value Engineering as a game-changing strategy to revolutionise the efficiency and impact of Ghana’s infrastructure projects. Highlighting its transformative potential, GhIS indicated that Value Engineering was essential key to overcoming the persistent national challenges of infrastructure budget overruns and project delays, that had severely strained and limited resources hindered accelerated development. Speaking at the annual conference of the Quantity Surveying Division of GhIS in Cape Coast, Mr Kofi Obeng-Ayirebi, the President of GhIS declared, “As Ghana accelerates its journey toward urbanisation and smart city innovation, Value Engineering stands as an indispensable catalyst for sustainable growth and cutting-edge infrastructure development.” “Value Engineering is not just cost-cutting; it is about doing things right and doing them well to maximize the benefits of every cedi spent on our national projects.” Value Engineering is about optimising resources while maintaining high standards of quality and safety by carefully analysing project components to find cost-effective alternatives without compromising function, thus ensuring better value for public investments. The conference was held on the theme: “Integrating value engineering into infrastructure procurement”. It brought together members and representatives of GhIS subsidiary institutions like the Quantity Surveying that hosted the event, Land Surveying and Valuation and Estate Surveying Divisions. Mr Obeng-Ayirebi said Value Engineering would prevent wasteful spending on infrastructure, increase longevity and durability of roads, bridges, and buildings by selecting optimal materials and methods. He said it will inform better allocation of scarce resources, allowing more infrastructure to be built within available budgets and promote environmentally responsible engineering practices. He said it would lead to enhanced public trust through timely completion and quality delivery of projects. Mr Osei Agyeman-Badu, Chairman of the Quantity Surveying Division of GhIS, similarly advocated for a national policy on value engineering to rake in its enormous benefits. He said having a national policy on Value Engineering would help standardise Value Engineering practices, ensuring consistent application across infrastructure projects to achieve better outcomes of taxpayers’ money. For that matter, he called for comprehensive procurement reforms, policies, and regulations to include value engineering, particularly for projects of high value threshold. “In our professional practice, we should also strive to apply Value Engineering principles in a structured approach using systematic analysis, cost-benefit analysis, alternative solutions of construction methods, risk management and life cycle costing,” he noted. In a speech read on behalf of Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of Oguaa Traditional Area, he highly commended GhIS for their immense contributions to the infrastructure development nationally, particularly impactful in the Central Region, including the Oguaa Traditional Area. Osabarimba Kwesi Atta pledged his full support and collaboration with the GhIS to further enhance their mutually beneficial relationship. “Together, we can ensure that the development projects undertaken are not only sustainable but also culturally respectful and aligned with the aspirations of our people,” he said. Kelsey Grammer is a dad again at 70: He welcomes eighth child, fourth with Kayte Walsh

Septuagenarian TV star Kelsey Grammer is still growing his family, most recently with the arrival of his newest child. The beloved "Cheers" and "Frasier" actor, who turned 70 in February, is now a father of eight. Grammer announced he and wife Kayte Walsh welcomed their fourth child together during his appearance on the "Pod Meets World" podcast." We just had our fourth one, it just became eight kids," he said during the podcast episode, published Monday. "Christopher, that's [who] just joined the family." The Emmy-winning TV veteran said his newest son arrived "three days" before the episode taped and joked with podcast hosts Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel and Will Friedle that he has "clusters" of children of different ages. Grammer and Walsh, 46, married in 2011 and also share a teenage daughter and two sons. People reported in June that the couple was expecting a child again, publishing photos of the two taking a stroll through London. The five-time Emmy winner has been married four times. Before Walsh, he was married to dancer-model Camille Donatacci. He was also briefly married to Leigh-Anne Csuhany, and dance instructor Doreen Alderman before that. His seven other children, the eldest being actor Spencer Grammer, hail from those previous relationships. The sitcom star became a grandfather in October 2011, when his daughter Spencer welcomed a son with then-husband James Hesketh. In the past, Grammer has been open about the "beauty of being an older dad." He told the Guardian in 2018 that raising children later in life he feels fortunate to "get a chance to kinda try it again. That's been a real gift." The actor announced the arrival of his eighth child while promoting his book "Karen: A Brother Remembers," released in May, about the brutal murder of his sister at age 18 and his lifelong battle with grief. During the episode, Fishel asked the actor how much his children knew about his late sister. He explained his older children have varying degrees of knowledge about his sister, while his younger kids will have to wait to learn more and read his book. "Some of the stuff is too brutal, they don't really need to be exposed to that yet," he said. Throughout the podcast episode, Grammer also recalled the proceedings in his sister's case and learning how to process the loss while delivering laughs on TV. "I didn't walk around talking about it a lot, it's been with me since the day it happened," he said.

WWE Sends Subtle Message to Goldberg After Asuka Jab

There’s no denying that Bill Goldberg has much significance in professional wrestling. However, recent criticism from the Hall of Famer aimed at WWE star Asuka has captured attention and seemingly prompted WWE to fire a subtle shot. During a podcast appearance, Goldberg mentioned how he’d won 173 matches consecutively, which set an impressive record in wrestling history. However, WWE is constantly looking for ways to put new superstars over, and Goldberg believes they intentionally did that by having Asuka surpass his record. “They already did. Some girl at WWE. They did it on purpose. I have nothing against the girl, by any means, but yeah,” he said on the “Real Talk With Mike Burke” podcast episode. Goldberg speculated that this is due to WWE having a sore spot over WCW winning the Monday night battle years ago, when he was part of WCW. On the podcast, he suggested that once WWE acquired WCW, they knew they could treat its talent as they wished. His “some girl” remarks caused a stir in the wrestling community, with some defending Goldberg and others seemingly taking an opposing side. On the latest episode of “Monday Night Raw,” WWE also seemed to get involved with a shot potentially fired at Goldberg. The company celebrated Asuka’s 10th anniversary as one of the greatest in professional wrestling. In conjunction, they released a special video that included career highlights. Asuka broke her silence on the Goldberg comments this weekend, and did so gracefully and without firing back. She acknowledged the story and his criticism, but also indicated that it’s not about her records. “Goldberg’s comments about me are all over the news right now. But honestly, I’m not bothered by it at all. What he said came from his own perspective, and that’s fine. So there’s really no need to make such a big deal out of it,” she wrote on her X post. “It’s not about what I accomplish. It’s about what I try to create. Philosophy and vision, that’s where the real value is. I don’t find meaning in anything without beauty,” Asuka said. “I don’t chase records or championships. They’re the ones that come to me. There’s not enough art in this world,” She also wrote. Goldberg’s comments about me are all over the news right now. But honestly, I’m not bothered by it at all. (NOW) combines a diversified customer base with leading GenAI technology that speeds up business processes and lets companies automate repetitive tasks. The company boasts a 98% customer renewal rate, but faces stiff competition from larger rivals with more attractive stock valuations. In this article, we’ll look at NOW’s latest share price, Wall Street sentiment, multiyear price forecasts, and the key factors that are playing a critical role in the company’s path going forward. Current Stock Overview Market Cap: $194.86 billion Trailing P/E Ratio: 114.48 Forward P/E Ratio: 45.25 1-Year Return: -0.63% 2025 YTD: -11% NOW trades at roughly $941 per share as of October, 2025. It’s down 11% year-to-date and is trending around the midway point between a high of $1,170 and a low of $721 over the last 52 weeks as investors assess its high valuation compared to larger peers. ServiceNow’s 45.25 forward P/E ratio is much higher than Microsoft’s (MSFT) and Salesforce’s (CRM), which are 33.33 and 18.87 respectively. Both companies are much bigger than ServiceNow with higher profit margins, and their own agentic AI and platforms could take market share. Approximately 10% of ServiceNow’s revenue comes from the public sector, notably the federal government, but that source could face meaningful pressure if the Trump Administration continues to cut costs. The company cited tightening federal budgets when providing its Q2 financial outlook in July. Aside from current pressures, ServiceNow’s business is expanding quickly while profit margins are increasing. The company has approximately 8,400 customers and a 98% renewal rate. Revenue grew 22.5% year-over-year in Q2 alongside a 30% rise in customers with more than $20 million in annual contract values. ServiceNow is also building out agentic AI on its platform, which can give it a competitive advantage and keep renewal rates high. NOW has a consensus Buy rating and a target of $1128.97 based on the ratings of 32 analysts. The high target of $1,300 was issued by JMP Securities on August 4, 2025. The low is $724 from Guggenheim on July 17, 2025. The three most-recent targets from UBS, Morgan Stanley, and JMP Securities average $1,208.33 with an implied 28% upside. Quick Snapshot Table of Predictions & Methodology for Forecasting Bull & Bear Case ServiceNow stock may appear overvalued, but its business is still growing at a fast rate. ServiceNow has approximately 8,400 customers and a 98% renewal rate, indicating client diversity and a high-quality productThe company continues to grow while improving its profit marginsServiceNow is a frontrunner in agentic AI, which can help it gain market share quickly ServiceNow faces stiff competition from tech giants with larger market shares and higher profit marginsThe company has a much higher forward P/E ratio than its larger peersFederal budget tightening can put pressure on some of its revenue Stock Price Prediction for 2025 CoinCodex has a wide range for the stock, with the midpoint and maximum price projecting a moderate upside. ServiceNow’s growing revenue, high customer retention rate and advances in agentic AI can fuel gains for the rest of the year. Stock Price Prediction for 2026 CoinCodex projects ServiceNow stock dropping considerably in 2026. Microsoft and Salesforce may take some of its market share, and if federal budget cuts affect revenue, high growth rates will be more difficult to achieve and maintain. Stock Price Prediction for 2030 CoinCodex projections don’t improve in 2030, with the highest price target suggesting some downside. ServiceNow may struggle if Microsoft and Salesforce have more successful agentic AI platforms and continue to take market share. Investment Considerations ServiceNow is a high-growth company that is capitalizing on artificial intelligence. However, it faces stiff competition and has a higher valuation than its peers. The company can overcome those challenges by continuing to deliver high revenue growth and rising profit margins, just as it has done for several years. Not only is ServiceNow’s customer base growing, but many of its top customers are signing bigger deals. A 98% renewal rate suggests that most new clients will stick around. 'Build it'- Thomas Frank seeking Tottenham home comforts amidst away joy

The pragmatic approach adopted by the Danish tactician has made Spurs difficult to break down this season. They have already kept four clean sheets in the Premier League, three of which have come away from home in tricky conditions. The North London club also became the first team to beat Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season, ending the Toffees’ unbeaten streak at their brand-new stadium. Tottenham need to improve home form under Thomas Frank this season Despite their impressive results on the road, Tottenham’s struggles at home still continue to persist. The Lilywhites have only managed to win three of their last 18 Premier League matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This is a worrying statistic for a team that is aiming to close the gap on its rivals and fight at the top-end of the league table. Many fans have also expressed concern that their home ground no longer feels like a ‘fortress’ following a string of disappointing performances. Echoing those concerns, Thomas Frank has now admitted that he wants to focus on improving Spurs’ home form in the Premier League. Speaking in his pre-match presser (via Tottenham Hotspur website), Frank said, “It’s still a relatively small sample. Hopefully, at the end of the year, the stats are fantastic away and fantastic home. It’s a new team, but still a team that needs to find each other. And how I see it, the way we’ve chosen to build it.”

Manchester United and Newcastle in £120 million tug of war for English midfield star

Elliot Anderson hunt heats up as Manchester United and Newcastle United prepare battle lines Manchester United have been looking for a dynamic midfielder in the last few transfer windows, and now it has reached an interesting stage. One of the major transfer targets of the club has been Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, who has grown in stature in the Premier League. His next possible move is a matter of a big headline in the English media. The Red Devils have been good at nurturing creative midfielders, and hence have kept close tabs on the 22-year-old Englishman. Anderson keeps performing for Forest and, hence, is currently an integral part of the first team. Amidst all these, journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Manchester United and Newcastle United now lead a growing list of Premier League clubs keen on Anderson’s signature. The 22-year-old has stood out since joining the City Ground, where he has become Forest’s creative engine. Nottingham Forest value him at around £100–120 million, which shows how highly they rate his influence. The Englishman has no release clause in his deal, so the club control any transfer talks. That situation could spark a fierce contest next summer. Insiders say Forest have already started preparing for offers. Earlier reports revealed that Nottingham Forest will demand £70 million for Manchester United target Elliot Anderson, but the latest figures show how quickly his value has risen. Anderson controls the midfield tempo, threads passes under pressure, and moves sharply into attacking spaces. These traits make him one of the league’s most exciting young talents. Newcastle United, his former club, have also made their admiration clear. There were lingering reports earlier that Newcastle United want to re-sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, which shows how highly they still regard him. The obesity rate is falling as Americans increasingly turn to weight-loss drugs

Obesity rates have dropped alongside surging use of Ozempic, Wegovy and other blockbuster GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, a new report shows. The obesity rate for adults in the United States slid from a record high of nearly 40% in 2022 to 37% in 2025, according to Gallup Poll results published Tuesday. That is a nearly 8 million decline in the number of obese adults nationwide. The survey also found that the percentage of people in the United States using GLP-1 drugs for weight loss has spiked over the past year, from 5.8% in February 2024 to 12.4% now. But the increase in the use of GLP-1s and falling obesity rates have not led to a decrease in diabetes. The diabetes rate reached an all-time high of 13.8% in 2025, up from 13.4% in 2024 and 12.8% in 2022, the survey shows. The reason that diabetes rates have not fallen alongside obesity rates is most likely due to a complex web of factors. Though obesity puts people at four times the risk of diabetes, not everyone who is obese has diabetes. And some people who are not obese are diagnosed with diabetes. Additionally, diabetes is a chronic condition. As a result, "short-term reductions in the obesity rate would not be expected to curtail the percentage of Americans who have been diagnosed with it," the poll said. The poll also found: • Women are using GLP-1 drugs at higher rates than men, but usage rates for both genders has doubled over the past year. The percentage of men using them rose from 4.7% in 2024 to 9.7% in 2025. For women, the rate jumped from 6.9% to 15.2%. • Obesity rates have dropped more for women than men since 2022. The obesity rate among women sank 3.5 percentage points to 38.8% in 2025, compared to a 2.3-point drop to 35.2% among men. •The biggest reductions in obesity occurred among people 40 to 64, the age group that also has the highest rate of GLP-1 drug use. The findings come from the Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index survey, an ongoing series of nationwide surveys of adults that Gallup has conducted since 2008. Gallup derived the most recent results from data from three nationally-representative surveys involving nearly 17,000 people. The survey included people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It defined obesity as having a body mass index of 30 or higher.
