SLOBODIAN: When the IRGC comes for a human rights hero and Canada’s gov’t does nothing

A month ago, Raheel Raza, a high-profile Muslim Pakistani Canadian journalist, beloved human rights activist, and fearless critic of Islamist extremism, learned that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is targeting her.Despite media exposing her plight, no Canadian official reached out to discuss the Iranian Armed Forces’ IRGC terror squad distributing her photo and profile to proxies on its internal network and X. This is only one IRGC method that potentially endangers critics it wants to silence.Iran employs intimidation tactics to smear and discredit journalists and human rights activists “on a very large scale,” said Raza..OLDCORN: Supreme Court’s softening on child porn sentences is a national disgrace.“The IRGC is dangerous. They’re here in Canada. I believe Iranian dissidents have also been targeted. This is an issue that’s larger than me. If only people would understand this isn’t about Raheel Raza. It’s about Canada and the safety of Canadian citizens.”“I asked myself why would anyone want to put a photo of a 75-year-old grandmother who has just had a kidney transplant on social media?”“I’ve been speaking out against the regime and their treatment of women. I personally think they’re also ticked off because I’m a woman. This is a misogynist patriarchal regime, and I’m a Muslim woman who speaks out against violence, against terror, against radicalization, against all the things they represent.”.Raza, president of Muslims Facing Tomorrow, exposes Islamic networks, promotes interfaith dialogue, and defends Israel’s right to exist. On October 1, she received a formal warning, not from any Canadian source, but from the US-based cybersecurity firm Quantalytics Inc., that the IRGC’s sophisticated hacking cyber-espionage unit APT35, a.k.a. KittenBusters, stole data from her secure site — including almost 24,000 emails. Soon after, she connected with California-based Holistic Resilience, which tracks the IRGC’s online activity. It confirmed the warning.“One guy told me this is what they do. They hire hundreds of people to do nothing but monitor people on social media and websites, and so on. When they want to track you, there’s nothing you can do.” .PINDER: United Nations deception – Inside the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s ‘Science’ factory.Raza sent the link to an Iranian friend. “She said, ‘Raheel, anything you have said or done since 2017 is on this page.’”“You are on Iran’s radar,” several Iranian dissidents warned her.Unfortunately, Raza fell under the radar of Canadian officials..“No one from the government or RCMP has reached out. I’ve taken precautions to protect myself because there doesn’t seem to be any government protection.”An intermediary is trying to facilitate a meeting with the RCMP. No luck yet. “I’m at the point where I don’t know what to do. I’m not afraid for myself. I’m concerned about my family. I’m concerned about Canada.” .BINDA: BC must slam the brakes on its gas car ban.“They’re entrenched. Iranian dissidents and activists like me have been warning about this. This is foreign interference. It’s a very old story. Foreign interference doesn’t only mean funding universities.”Raza has received a fatwa and death threats over the years.“But it was from individuals. This concerned me because I was warned this is the IRGC, part of the regime.” .The warning came on the heels of the assassination of her friend, Pakistani journalist Imtiaz Mir, a peace activist who supported the Abraham Accords. He was ambushed in Pakistan on September 17 and died a week later. Gunmen with the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (Al-Hosseini Resistance), linked to the Iranian regime, claimed credit.“This act was not an act of random violence — it was a calculated attempt to silence a voice that wanted dialogue and bridge-building,” said Pakistan’s International Religious Freedom Roundtable in a statement.Raza said it’s no coincidence that the day after Mir’s assassination, her family and friends began receiving anonymous phone calls asking about her whereabouts. For years, she’s warned the West about Islamist extremism infiltration..HANNAFORD: Time for the right to work in Alberta?.“You have to understand the mindset of these Islamists, of these absolutely extremist fundamentalists who think they’re protectors of the faith. I know the mindset of these ideologues.”Raza said she’s ensnared in the “Salman Rushdie syndrome” where the direct message isn’t “go out and kill her.” Rather, exposing her plants an idea in an Islamist mind that it may be “doing the regime a favour” that’ll get him to heaven to be “with 72 virgins.”.Supreme leader Ayatollah Khomeini did eventually issue a fatwa against American novelist Salman Rushdie after his book, The Satanic Verses, was published in 1988. Khomeini offered a $3 million bounty for his assassination. In 2022, in New York, Rushdie was stabbed and partially blinded by extremist Hadi Matar, 24.No effort to contact Raza by officials is unnerving considering that the IRGC was designated a terrorist organization by the federal government last year due to its role in shooting down Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, killing 176 people in 2020.Canada’s public inquiry into foreign interference pointed to Iran’s active meddling in Canada. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security warned that cyber espionage will continue against Canadian journalists and activists that Iran views as a threat..OLDCORN: Lukaszuk’s petition doesn’t slam the door on an independence vote. The IRGC is the death squad that has detained and disappeared thousands of dissidents in Iran. The regime crushes women’s rights under Sharia law. In 2024, Roya Heshmeti, 23, was flogged 74 times for not covering her head and “violating public morals” and “defying hijab rules.” In 2022, Masha Amini was arrested and detained by the morality police for failing to wear a hijab. She was beaten, fell into a coma, and died. Sexual minority activists and Christians are executed in Iran. “My question is when there’s a regime or religious leadership, whatever you want to call them, who’ll torture and hurt women for showing a strand of hair, why would they have any respect for humanity?” said Raza.Raza, who migrated to Canada in 1988, won’t be deterred..“We came to Canada to embrace all the values that Canada gives us. When I see what has been allowed to happen on our streets, it saddens me. This isn’t the future I want for my children or grandchildren. I want them to feel safe.”“I hope there’s still a chance for it to be the country we came to. Because of my love for this country, I’ll always stand when I sing the national anthem.”Nothing will stop her from continuing her work..THOMAS: New Calgary city council sworn in; it must take the common sense approach.“As a Muslim woman, an activist, and an advocate for women’s rights, I’m able to give voice to those who don’t have one. If my voice is going to be stifled, who is going to speak for me?”“I’ll fight until my last breath to eliminate hate and violence, to support peacemakers, to support those who are fighting aggression and suppression, and be a voice for the voiceless.”

Blue Jackets’ First 10 Games Show Real Progress

The other noticeable change is better goaltending. The Blue Jackets have allowed 14 goals in their five road games, an average of 2.80 goals against per game. Elvis Merzlikins is a perfect 3-0 on the road so far including wins in Dallas and in Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Jet Greaves won the game in Buffalo making 35 saves. Playing .800 road hockey will eventually come down to earth some. But showing better in this area will drastically improve their playoff chances. Depth Delivering This aspect has really shown itself in the last couple of games. On consecutive nights, the Blue Jackets bottom-six delivered in a big way. In Buffalo, it was the fourth line who dominated the game. Yegor Chinakhov scored his first of the season. Miles Wood scored in the third period to tie the game. Then in a rare overtime shift, he won the game. The next night against the Maple Leafs, it was the third line’s turn to respond. The line of Cole Sillinger, Charlie Coyle and Mathieu Olivier combined for 11 points. It’s not often you see the Three Stars of the Game be one entire line. This trio accomplished that on Wednesday. This gives the Blue Jackets a different look and feel. The top line of Dmitri Voronkov, Sean Monahan and Kirill Marchenko is still clicking in many aspects. That’s even despite Monahan not scoring a goal yet this season. The second line might not have the numbers at this point you’d expect to see, they each have the ability to break out. The Blue Jackets have four lines that can hurt teams. This is where the acquisitions of Coyle and Wood are showing some early payoff. The same thing can be said about Isac Lundestrom. The Blue Jackets are winning games with different players contributing to their wins. That is another strong sign that they can make the playoffs. That is also real progress. Side Dishes Here are some quick side dishes that have caught my eye during these first 10 games. The goalie rotation is benefiting everyone involved. It’s keeping both Greaves and Merzlikins sharp. It’s also allowing them to maintain high energy levels. That becomes a big deal as the season wears on to have two goalies that can win on any given night. Denton Mateychuk ascending to the top pair on the offside has been a big factor. In over 108 minutes at 5-on-5, Mateychuk and Werenski have outscored the opposition 5-3 when together and are expected to score just under 56% of goals. That’ll work. (Per Nat Stat Trick.) Marchenko and Voronkov are each 5-5-10 in the first 10 games leading the way in scoring. Voronkov is only beginning to realize how much of a menace he will be. Coyle does so many things well that don’t make the scoresheet. There’s a reason he’s never missed the playoffs in his career to date. Just a solid hockey player. One thing I would like to see. This should be the top power-play unit. Load up the skill. Werenski, Johnson, Fantilli, Marchenko, Monahan. Interesting that they have yet to score a power-play goal on home ice. We’ll see soon enough how the units develop over time. Overall, the Blue Jackets should be happy with a 6-4-0 start given the difficulty of the schedule. They have shown real progress in key areas but also have plenty of room to improve too. See you in November.

Jackets ride hot stretch into matchup vs. floundering Blues

The Columbus Blue Jackets are bracing for a challenging five-game November road trip that will span the width of North America. Before heading to the airport, the streaking Blue Jackets will host the slumping St. Louis Blues on Saturday night. Columbus has won three straight and five of its last six. Meanwhile, the Blues have gone winless (0-4-2) in their last six. The Blue Jackets feature a balanced attack. Through 10 games, 11 players have scored two or more goals, with Kirill Marchenko and Dmitri Voronkov pacing the team with five each. The line of Charlie Coyle, Cole Sillinger and Mathieu Olivier combined for 11 points Thursday as Columbus rolled to a 6-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. "We roll four lines pretty heavily, and that makes for a really good recipe," Olivier said. "Our line is a good mix of everything," added Sillinger, who scored twice against the Maple Leafs. "I mean, three bigger dudes who, you know, can play really well below the dots, and when we get the cycle going, we're tough to knock off the puck. "If teams give us time and space, we can capitalize. Throughout this 10-game stretch here, we felt like we've done that. It's just a matter of executing." Blue Jackets defenseman Erik Gudbranson has missed the last two games with a hip injury. The Blues made progress Thursday night while outshooting the visiting Vancouver Canucks 39-18 Thursday during their 4-3 shootout loss. "I've got to think that there's six to seven chances that should have been in the back of the net," Blues coach Jim Montgomery said. "At least we're there now, we're getting more chances. That's a good thing, so step in the right direction, that's a positive. The negative is there's some game management issues and there's some decisions that we just have to become a smarter hockey team." With top center Robert Thomas (upper-body injury) and winger Jake Neighbours (lower-body injury) sidelined, the team recalled top forward prospect Dalibor Dvorsky from Springfield of the AHL. Montgomery deployed him at center on the third line. "I thought he was really good," Montgomery said. "Played a really good game. He did some really good things on the power play. I liked his speed and pace tonight. There were a lot of good things about him." The Blues have the NHL's second-worst goaltending with their goals-against average of 4.27. Jordan Binnington is 2-4-2 with a 3.21 GAA while Joel Hofer is 1-2-0 with a 5.81 GAA. "I don't think we're playing bad," Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist said. "It feels like we're making a couple mistakes and it's back in our net. "We're maybe not protecting the middle ice good enough. I don't want anyone to write anything about me trying to rip the goalies apart here. (Binnington) and Hofer have been amazing for us for years and they've been playing good and they work their butts off every day. None of this is on them. It's on all of us and we just need to be better at covering the middle and covering up for them."

Buckingham Palace confirms late Queen’s corgis to remain in care of Andrew’s family

The corgis of the late Queen Elizabeth II which were adopted by Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson are to remain in the care of their family, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. The couple took over the care of Muick and Sandy after the monarch’s death, housing them at Royal Lodge. But now with the couple’s departure from the Windsor address, speculation had arisen over who would keep the two dogs. Buckingham Palace said in a statement to the PA news agency: “The corgis will remain with the family.” However, it did not clarify if it would be Andrew, Sarah or Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice who would give them a home. Earlier this year, Sarah claimed that the late Queen communicated to her through the dogs’ barking. In an address to the Creative Women Platform in London, reported by The Times newspaper, she said: “I have her dogs, I have her corgis. Every morning they come in and go ‘woof woof’ and all that and I’m sure it’s her talking to me. “I’m sure it’s her, reminding me she’s still around.” And in 2023, Sarah described how one of the corgis, Muick, had grieved after the late Queen’s death. Speaking to Graeme Hall, presenter of the Channel 5 show Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly, Sarah said it took Muick about a year to come to terms with Queen Elizabeth II’s death. She said: “There are two corgis that came, big Muick and Sandy, and there were five Norfolk terriers that were there too – seven in all. “And big Muick is very, very, very demonstrative, he had his tail down to begin with and then now, a year later … he’s just beginning now to really enjoy (himself).” The late Queen owned more than 30 corgis during her life, many of which were directly descended from Susan, given to her as an 18th birthday present by her parents in 1944. The then Princess Elizabeth forged such a strong connection with Susan that the dog accompanied her on her honeymoon.

Cayman Community Comes Together for Second Derek Larner Memorial Run

George Town, Cayman Islands – 28 October 2025 More Than 700 Take Part in Second Derek Larner Memorial RunMore than 700 runners, walkers and supporters came together on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, for the second Derek Larner Memorial Run, sponsored proudly by Artex Risk Solutions (Cayman) Limited. First held in January 2025, the event has found its new home in October, becoming an annual fixture on the Cayman race calendar. The run honours the legacy of the late athlete, coach and mentor Derek Larner, whose passion for running, youth athletics and community spirit left a lasting mark on the Cayman Islands. Proceeds again support Jasmine Palliative & Hospice Care and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society (CICS) – two organisations that provide essential care to those dealing with cancer and their families. The inaugural event raised $16,000, and this year’s total is expected to surpass that amount. Donations can be made until the end of this week at racecaribbean.net. Around 70 runners took on the Half Marathon, which started at 5:30 a.m. from South Terminal Waterfront, while the 5K and 10K began an hour later from Cricket Square. All races finished at Cricket Square, where friends, families and supporters gathered to cheer participants and celebrate Derek’s enduring influence on Cayman’s running community. This year’s event also highlighted the strength of Cayman’s young running talent, with several top finishers under the age of 18 – a reflection of the thriving youth athletics culture Derek helped inspire. “It’s very uplifting to see the community come together in Derek’s memory,” said Laura Larner, Derek’s wife. “This event captures everything Derek stood for – running, community and giving back. Seeing so many people out there, from kids to seasoned runners, was really special. Derek would have been so proud and delighted that many of the young runners he used to coach came out to run in his memory and that several of the race winners were under 18. Thank you to everyone who ran, volunteered and supported the event – it felt like a truly fitting way to honour Derek’s memory and continue his legacy” “The turnout this year was incredible,” said Trevor Murphy, race director and close friend of Derek’s. “It’s overwhelming to see how Derek’s legacy keeps growing and inspiring more people every time. A huge thank you to our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who took part – we can’t wait to build on this momentum next October.” “We at Artex are incredibly proud to have been title sponsor for this fantastic event,” said Yohann Regnard, senior vice president at Artex Risk Solutions. “It was so well attended by the Cayman community, celebrating Derek’s life and his role as a cornerstone for athletics here. The fact that it has benefited such worthy causes makes us so happy to contribute. Long may this event continue and grow from strength to strength.” Race Results5KMale: 1st Thomas Vaughan (17:45), 2nd Jake Vader (17:57), 3rd Luke Garbarino (19:20)Female: 1st Aria Marriott (22:10), 2nd Una Walker (22:37), 3rd Ginny Harrison (23:36) 10KMale: 1st Christian Henning (36:54), 2nd David Milimo (40:55), 3rd Ash Wright (43:16)Female: 1st Elaine Anderson (45:51), 2nd Louise Carroll (51:05), 3rd Rebekah Westin (51:58) Half MarathonMale: 1st Esmond Brown (1:23:06), 2nd Andy Morrison (1:24:01), 3rd Abraham Whittaker (1:27:36)Female: 1st Jalene Cruz (1:34:11), 2nd Emily Clarke (1:39:14), 3rd Oddy Grullon (1:47:14) Half Marathon Relay: Victoria Hartley & John Bodden (2:19:17)Funds raised will help Jasmine and CICS continue their vital work providing care, comfort and support across the Cayman Islands. The next Derek Larner Memorial Run will take place in October 2026, continuing its annual place on Cayman’s race calendar. How Craig Porter Jr.’s ‘commitment to being elite’ has made him invaluable to Cavs’ success

How Craig Porter Jr.’s ‘commitment to being elite’ has made him invaluable to Cavs’ success

Before his third season officially got underway, Craig Porter Jr. told ClutchPoints that there was much more he could bring to the table for the Cleveland Cavaliers: “It’s all up to me, and that’s good to know.” Just nine days into the 2025-26 campaign with the wine and gold, Porter has excelled in what the Cavs have asked of him as a defensive stalwart and high-octane game-changer. According to Cleaning the Glass, 20.8% of opponent possessions are ending in turnovers with Porter on the floor; that ranks in the 97th percentile among other lineups in the NBA. Furthermore, Cleveland’s foes have only a 12.9 free-throw rate per 100 possessions, a mark that is among the top five-man units in the league. “Oh, man, he’s just been really active,” Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson said pregame Monday in Detroit of his effort against the Milwaukee Bucks. “Deflections, steals, picking up full court when he can. I thought it really helped flip the game a little bit, his energy. He’s got really good anticipation on defense. As soon as the guy picks it up, he gets high hands, gets deflections. He’s committed to being in elite, elite shape, probably the best of his career. I know that’s helping him too.” That Sunday evening, Porter’s contributions forced Donovan Mitchell to go out of his way in praise of the third-year guard at the start of his interview. “Changed the entire basketball game,” Mitchell said. “That was big time for him to come out there, do what he did on the defensive end. My favorite play was the three he missed after the steal in that corner. Just for him to continue to be that pest, to figure things out, like, that was a big game for him.” “His athleticism is very sneaky, so when you put him on guards, for him to disrupt them how he did this game was great,” Evan Mobley added following the home-opening victory over the Bucks. “And we need him to do that as much as possible.” The very next night, Mitchell repeated himself after a lopsided victory over the Pistons, a contest in which Jarrett Allen noticed Porter’s intensity out of the gate. “I think that just comes with experience being in this league,” Allen said after the road win. “Kenny has challenged him at the beginning of this year to be able to be more aggressive on the defensive end. He’s took that to heart. He’s picking up people, full court, he’s in the passing lanes. He’s trying to make it difficult for everybody.” “That wins playoff games.” Donovan Mitchell and Kenny Atkinson shout out Craig Porter Jr. and Jaylon Tyson for buying into their roles, while CP and JT open up on the positive impact they’ve had on the #Cavs thus far. pic.twitter.com/mbHTfCtNK4 — Spencer Davies (@SpinDavies) October 28, 2025 For nearly a whole quarter of game time between the middle of the first quarter and halfway through the second, the Cavs held the Pistons without a field goal and forced an abundance of turnovers. Porter and Jaylon Tyson were both on the floor for the stretch that ran Detroit out of its own building. To Mitchell, that set the tone and gave Cleveland life. “That’s the level we’re trying to get to,” Mitchell said. “I’ve been on their a** to do all the little things. Kenny has as well. And I think it’s been four times they’ve messed with the inbounder in the past three games, four games. That wins playoff games. And these guys are doing that at the highest level. They’re boxing out, they’re doing little things. Yeah, they’re making mistakes, cool, whatever. But they’re doing everything we asked in these four games with guys being hurt.” “It just shows that guy needs to be on the court, whether it’s me, whether it’s Jaylon,” Porter told ClutchPoints and Cleveland.com’s Ethan Sands in Detroit. “Just emphasizing those points and just understanding what our role is and how we can best affect the game and help win is the biggest part.” As of Friday, Porter has the fifth-most total deflections (15) among players who have played fewer than 90 minutes. It also ranks fourth on the Cavs behind Allen, Mobley, and Mitchell. Ball pressure has been a significant point of emphasis, and he’s been rewarded with more playing time because of the job he’s done. “Anytime we can give any of these guys a break and just pick up somebody full and disrupt the game and completely change it like we have is big for us,” Porter said. Craig Porter Jr. plays hard on one end, gets rewarded on the Cavs’ other end David Richard-Imagn Images Porter’s impact on the defense has also brought forth success on offense. The Cavs have scored 126.1 points per 100 possessions with a 60.2% effective field goal percentage and 33.3% offensive-rebounding rate when Porter’s been out there, per Cleaning the Glass. “I feel like it makes it easier for me and others because a lot of times we’re getting stops,” Porter said. “We don’t have to worry about bringing the ball up slow, having to go against a set defense. So we’re getting a lot of stops and playing easily and playing into flow offense, not having to settle for a lot of things. So I feel like it just helps us control the game and understand the little spots that are open.” Porter believes he and Tyson have plenty of room to grow on the offensive side, particularly with taking and making shots from deep, just being confident. “It sounds small, but it’s a big thing from both of us, being younger guys, I guess, on this team,” Porter said. Knowing the expanded responsibilities ahead, the two put in a tremendous amount of work this offseason to prepare. Porter is glad that those long summer days in the gym are paying off for both of them: “It just makes you want to work even harder and keep doing the little things that matter because I feel like that’s the thing that’s gonna matter later in the season.” “They put the work in for it, and I won’t stop raving about them because I told both of them, ‘I’m going to be on y’all,’ whatever it is, film, on the bench, during the game,” Mitchell said. “And they’ve responded to the call.”

Coronation Street fans 'work out' who will expose Becky Swain in Swarla development

Coronation Street fans think they've figured out who will expose Becky Swain after Carla Connor's Rovers Return rampage. On Friday (October 31), Halloween officially arrived in Weatherfield, and there was almost nothing spookier than Carla learning the truth about Becky's actions. As viewers will recall, Carla struck up a relationship with DS Lisa Swain and the pair moved in recently with Lisa's daughter Betsy, swiftly leading to their engagement. However, their bliss soon came to an abrupt end as Lisa's "dead" wife Becky Swain returned after years of Lisa and Betsy thinking they had buried her. In reality, Becky was sent away to Spain under a different name to avoid a gang she was tracking down finding her, and her family. This sent Lisa into a spiral of confusion, struggling with how to cope now that she'd finally moved on with Carla after years of grieving. Of course, they couldn't publicly announce that Becky had come back from the dead, so they were quick to say she's Lisa's visiting sister. While Carla was away in Ireland for a funeral, Becky tried to get closer to Lisa, but Carla's swift arrival home put a spanner in the works. However, on Friday Becky made her move on Lisa, kissing her before being rejected by her ex-wife. Much to viewers approval, Lisa decided to tell Carla, as she said: "She kissed me... It was barely a kiss, I pushed her away." As Carla felt that she couldn't compete with Becky, Lisa added: "There is nothing going on... I am not lying to you, nothing happened while you were away.. I told her straight it's you who I want to be with." Carla then stormed into the Rovers Return to confront Becky, as she threatened: "If you ever kiss her again, I'll kill you." Cassie watched on after overhearing the conversation, and now viewers think she'll be the one to blow Becky's cover. On a Reddit thread, u/editedmorph wrote: "But in one of the scenes in the initial aftermath of Becky coming back (I think it was when Roy clocked Becky was back ‘from the dead’) and Lisa said that she was her sister, Cassie was also engaging in some conversation with Lisa about her “sister” which I found odd as they’d never conversed on screen before. "I’m sure Cassie will have a role to play in all of this in the upcoming weeks (I hope it’s not months as this storyline is a bit wild and daft with so many plot holes). I just loved seeing feisty Carla again. I’ve missed her". u/fluffy3118 replied: "Yeah, I thought the scene with Cassie asking Lisa about her 'sister' was odd too, but I wonder if she clicked on back then because she saw how awkward Roy was talking to Lisa about it? I'd be interested to see how it plays out."

Trae Young puts Hawks fans on edge of seat with cryptic message amid knee injury

The Atlanta Hawks are in wait-and-see mode with Trae Young after he suffered a knee injury in their last game against the Brooklyn Nets. Young had his knee run into during the first half, and he sat on the floor for some time before getting up on his own and jogging to the bench. He came back in for the next play and ran down the court, but he eventually headed to the locker room. Young returned to Atlanta to get an MRI on his knee, but there has not been an update on the severity of the injury. To keep fans on the edge of their seats, Young made a post on social media that featured a bible verse. “God Never Makes Mistakes! ‘A righteous man falls seven times, and rises again’ Prov. 24:16,” Young wrote on X, formerly Twitter. The fans let it be known in the comments that they are definitely anxious about his results. “A righteous man reveals his MRI results to his anxious fans,” one user wrote. “What’s the word Trae ?? We need you out there bro, get well soon,” another user wrote. “Minor setback for a MAJOR comeback,” a third user wrote. It’s good to know that the city is behind Young, and they know that him being on the court will make a big difference in how successful the Hawks are this season. Hawks are awaiting MRI results for Trae Young As the Hawks wait for the MRI results for Young, the good news is that it is not ACL-related, which head coach Quin Snyder relayed after their game against the Nets. “Not sure how long (he’ll be out) or what respect, but something that he’s going to hopefully be back from whenever possible,” Snyder said. “He didn’t want to come out of the game. He’s such a competitor. He takes so much pride in being available.” At this point, it’s still uncertain what kind of injury it is, but the Hawks have already ruled him out against the Indiana Pacers in their NBA Cup game. With him going back to Atlanta, there’s a good chance he won’t be with them to finish their road trip as they face the Cleveland Cavaliers in two days. For now, the Hawks can only hope that Young isn’t out for too long, but they have enough talent on the team to try and weather the storm.

Judgement Against PDP A Call For Anarchy – Bode George

Former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has described Friday’s judgement of Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, stopping the party’s National Convention as “the joke of the century, open recipe for anarchy and a display of judicial brigandage”. New Telegraph had earlier reported that the he convention is scheduled for Ibadan, Oyo State on November 15 and 16. Justice Omotosho ruled that evidence adduced before him established that PDP failed to comply with provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as well as its own (PDP) Constitution. He declared that the party also failed to conduct valid state congresses before it moved to hold the convention to elect its national officers. But, George in a statement, said: “This judgement will consume this country. It is high time the judge put down his wig and gown to join politics. What is going on? This doesn’t have any sense at all. “I call on the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the National Judicial Council to call this judge to order. “Any judgement capable of leading to a breakdown of law and order should be avoided. What power does he have to order PDP not to have its National Convention? “Has the judiciary gone to the dogs? “During all our congresses leading to this convention, INEC officials were present. “The electoral body witnessed the procedure. They took notes. INEC is not complaining. The judge did not even call INEC officials to crosscheck facts, and tell him what they witnessed during our congresses. “So, why is the judge complaining? Does he have a political interest? What type of judgement is this? Are we still in a democracy? We have to be careful in this country. “The CJN and NJC should monitor some of these judges before they set our democracy on fire. “PDP is the oldest and most experienced party in the country today. Since 1998 when we formed this party, we have always followed the law during our congresses and convention. So, nobody should teach us what we already know”. George lamented that the judiciary is being used to truncate democracy in the largest black-populated country in the world. He dismissed all the grounds adduced for the judgement, stating that it wasn’t the prerogative of the court to dabble into the internal affairs of a political party in managing its affairs as entrenched in its internal dynamics and Constitution.

From tacos to tea, Spanberger spends an afternoon pandering to Latinos and Asians

Spanberger’s campaign listed both venue locations as private, and attendees were told not to carry homemade signs, which were a “prohibited” item that would be confiscated by security, according to invitation instructions. At Soricha Tea & Theater, a Korean cafe in Fairfax County, where Asian Americans are the largest ethnic minority group, Spanberger took part in a tea-pouring and preparation ceremony. There, she also watched with enthusiasm a ceremonial drum performance showcased by Korean school children dressed in traditional hanbok. In the corner, a stand-alone Spanberger campaign banner was wedged between structures holding the buks, or barrel-shaped Korean drums. At the Alexandria location of Los Tios Grill, a local Tex-Mex chain known for its oversized margaritas, Spanberger flexed her multilingual chops. Spanberger, a former CIA operations officer, spoke in fluent Spanish for approximately four minutes, much to the surprise of some in attendance. An expressive Spanberger, at times gesticulating in a Tim Walz-like manner, bantered with Spanish-speaking supporters seated before her, eliciting slight chuckles and approving nods scattered around the eatery. If elected, as Spanberger’s surrogates reminded supporters Thursday, she would be the first female governor in Virginia history, though her Republican competitor would be that too, as well as the first black woman to win the commonwealth’s governorship. In the political Left’s identity hierarchy, Earle-Sears has Spanberger beat. Facing criticism for being too scripted and for declining to take stands on hot-button issues, Spanberger, whose critics view her as an unremarkable white woman without conviction, surrounded herself just days before the election with more racially diverse allies who nonetheless spouted familiar talking points. At the Latino-focused event, the front few rows were lined with Latino supporters, and behind them sat a mix of people. Lauren Lobrano, an Alexandria local, told the Washington Examiner that although she is not Latina, what brought her out to the “Latinos for Spanberger” event was an email from the campaign. “I’ve been volunteering for the Spanberger campaign, knocking on doors in my free time,” Lobrano said. “Got an email and was excited to come out and see her in person and say thank you.” Maria Cardona, who is Latina, said she is a Washington, D.C. resident but knows many Spanberger supporters in Northern Virginia, naming Arlington Public Schools board member Zuraya Tapia-Hadley. “She is a dear friend of mine,” Cardona told the Washington Examiner. “I knew about this [outreach event], and I am close to the people who work with her as well.” Many of those tightly packed into the crowded room, standing around the dozens seated, were campaign staffers, members of the press, and local officials stumping for Spanberger. Spanberger was flanked by local Latino leaders, including Virginia Del. Alfonso Lopez (D-Arlington), who insisted that Spanberger has “detailed plans about how to move Virginia’s education forward,” though she could not articulate a clear stance on school transgender policies during her one-and-only televised debate against GOP Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears. Alexandria City Councilor Canek Aguirre, the son of Mexican immigrants, spoke about mass deportations under the Trump administration. Drawing audible boos from the audience, Aguirre accused Immigration and Customs Enforcement of “snatching” innocents off the street and “terrorizing communities.” Piling on, Spanberger painted frightening imagery of ICE operations, saying that although she is “a law-and-order Democrat,” it is “not law and order to have your citizens, your community members, live in fear.” “Rounding up of people, making children live in fear, ensuring that elderly grandparents aren’t going to church because they are afraid, and then kids are staying home from school because they are afraid their parents may not be home when they get there, that should offend everyone,” Spanberger said, to resounding applause. Spanberger’s time-pressed star guest, Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), however, jetted off to the U.S. Capitol before he could share his origin story as a Latino child of immigrants making it in America. “He did not do a very good job of telling his story, so I’m going to tell it,” Spanberger said of her headlining speaker. That she did, recounting in great detail how Gallego got into Harvard after cold-calling Hispanic students off the university directory to seek out application advice. While enrolled, Gallego worked as a custodian, Spanberger continued, and learned to navigate the Ivy League’s elitist landscape as a low-income college kid. “When kids who might dream big about what’s possible as they work a job or two in between helping translate for their parents or trying to get used to life in this new place, people can look to Ruben, saying, ‘He did it. I can do it too.’ And that’s what this country is about. I am grateful for his support, his service, in all its forms, particularly at this moment,” Spanberger said. At the end of the event, Spanberger trotted out 95-year-old organizing powerhouse Dolores Huerta, a famous labor figure who co-founded what would become the United Farm Workers alongside celebrated Latino folk hero Cesar Chavez. Huerta, now a nonagenarian, yet still energized as ever, was flown in on a red eye from California and wore a T-shirt spelling out “Protest, Organize, Walkout, Everyone, Rise Up,” acronymed “P.O.W.E.R.” Standing next to Spanberger, a microphoned Huerta led the crowd in chanting the UFW’s storied slogan, which she created, “Sí, se puede!” In 2008, President Barack Obama adopted an English translation of it as a campaign motto, “Yes, we can,” and enjoyed much success from the borrowed mantra.

Strictly Come Dancing's Harry Aikines-Aryeetey reveals unique trick in 'difficult' admission

Strictly Come Dancing's Harry Aikines-Aryeetey admitted that he has an unusual trick up his sleeve when it comes to looking serious for his performances. On Saturday (October 25), it was Icons Week in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom, where the remaining celebrities transformed into various stars. As for Gladiator Harry, he transformed into icon Usher as he performed an Argentine Tango with Karen to the R&B star's track, Caught Up. Harry received a mishmash of scores from the judges, with a total of 30 points. Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas criticising the routine, while Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke both liked what they saw. For next Saturday (November 1), Harry will have to leave Usher in the past as it's Halloween week on the dancefloor. He'll be performing the American Smooth to Mystical Magical by Benson Boone, with hopes that he'll make it through to another week of Strictly fun. Appearing on Friday's (October 31) installment of Strictly: It Takes Two, Harry and Karen Hauer opened up about their routine to Fleur East. Reflecting on having Oti and Motsi Mabuse's support, Harry shared: "Genuinely, they're legends. It's always nice to feel that people are sort of enjoying what you're doing, but most importantly at the end of the day, the room was electric. "The vibe was so right, and the fact that they can vouch for us, I'm glad that someone's actually saying that." Karen responded to the judges feedback, as she said: "I thought we had fun, we had a really beautiful balance, but you know what? Listen, the judges have a really hard job on their hands, so sometimes they're gonna like it. "Sometimes they're not. I just wish they liked it!" The American Smooth will be a change of pace to the last two weeks for Harry, who admitted that it will be nice to smile again before revealing his unique trick to stay serious. He said: "I'm smiling now just because I know I can smile. Life is about smiling for me, and every day's a gift, so if there's a day that I can't smile... "I have to pretend that Karen's forehead is a dessert that I really want to eat and smoulder at it. That's been really difficult to do, for the last two weeks, I've been looking at your forehead like a dessert!" Both Karen and Fleur laughed as the latter added: "Listen, whatever works!"
