Step into Japanese culture with Converse’s new Japan-exclusive shoes featuring gods, sushi style

Take a stroll through neon-lit cities and ancient legends. Converse Japan often shakes up the iconic style of the original Converse shoes by incorporating traditional Japanese designs or collaborations with popular franchises. This season is no different with another Japan-exclusive lineup that shows off three different aspects of Japan: geography, fish, and legendary gods. First are the All Star Localize Hi models, which are only available in select stores in two of Japan’s greatest cities: Tokyo and Osaka. Each design proudly displays the city name, printed across the shoe in kanji, hiragana, and English. The Tokyo edition dazzles with a vivid orange echoing the color of the city’s iconic Tokyo Tower, while the Osaka edition shines in a cool blue inspired by the neon lights of the famous downtown Dotonbori canal district. Both feature city-exclusive labeling inside, and are perfect for people who love the cities as their own. A pair of one of these models can be purchased for 9,900 yen (US$64.25), and are not available on the online shop, so you’ll have to make your way to one of the two cities if you want to pick some up. Next, the All Star Yunomi Hi feature a print packed with kanji characters for names of different types of fish, and even includes the kanji for “All Star” hidden among them (“全星” read as “o-ru suta-”). The design is inspired by one traditionally used on yunomi teacups, and will look especially familiar to seafood lovers, as the pattern is traditionally used at sushi restaurants in Japan. The hand-drawn style stars and navy-coloring brings a modern and refined look to the design. These shoes are available online and are sold for 9,900 yen, and are ideal for anyone who wants to show the world their love for sushi and fish. For the people who want to make a statement about their passion for classical Japanese culture, the All Star Fujinraijin Hi are what you want to get your hands on and feet in. The two deities of the wind god, Fujin, and the thunder god, Raijin, are among the most iconic figures in Japanese mythology, often used as protective guardians at temple gates and the thresholds of other sacred spaces. The pair have long been portrayed in Japanese art, and with Fujin on the right shoe and Raijin on the left shoe, they combine together to create an impressive work of wearable art. These shoes come in either black or off-white and are available on the online store for 10,450 yen. All of these models were launched on October 17, and are available for purchase now. So, whether you’re an avid shoe collector who wants to add some Japanese flair to your collection, or someone who simply loves Japan, these models are not to be missed. Torry Tear Benigàmin Apart in 9-Goal Masterclass

SC Torrevieja CF 9 – 0 Benigàmin CF Matias (8), Ismail (13,25,28), Pucho (19), Loel (67), Alu (75), Carmona (81), Ernesto (90) BY CHRIS PEACH SC Torrevieja CF produced a breathtaking display of attacking football as they swept aside bottom-of-the-table Benigàmin CF with a 9–0 victory at the weekend. The home fans packed into the Vicente García stadium were treated to a dominant performance that maintained Torry’s perfect record in the league. Although Benigàmin had not previously lost by more than a single goal this season, any hopes they had of keeping things tight were shattered within minutes of kick-off. Torrevieja, buoyed by the return of Breno and Manresa from injury, started with blistering intensity. Matías almost opened the scoring in the first minute with a header that drifted just wide, setting the tone for what was to come. After a flurry of early chances, the breakthrough arrived in the eighth minute. A long throw from Breno caused chaos in the Benigàmin area, and Matías reacted quickest to stab home at the back post. Five minutes later it was 2–0, Breno again the creator with a clever through ball that released Ismail, who rounded the keeper before finishing smartly. The third came in the 19th minute when Pucho’s in-swinging corner evaded everyone and nestled into the net. Ismail then took centre stage, adding two more goals before the half-hour mark. His second was a composed finish from the edge of the box after a neat pass from Pucho, and he completed his hat-trick in style—allowing a Matías cross to run across his body before flicking the ball deftly into the net with his heel. Benigàmin’s only real chance of the first half came just before the interval, but Pizarro produced a fine save from close range to preserve the clean sheet. At half-time, Torry led 5–0 and looked unstoppable. The second half began with Carmona replacing Paco, and Torrevieja continued to dominate. Breno, already with two assists, came close to adding his own goal with a fierce drive from distance, but the visiting keeper was equal to it. Further changes on 56 minutes saw Ernesto, Abadia and Otman enter the fray, and they soon made their mark. In the 67th minute, Loel unleashed a powerful strike from 25 yards that the Benigàmin goalkeeper could only help into the net, making it six. Moments later, substitute Alu needed just one touch to score his first senior goal, calmly finishing from inside the box after Ernesto’s good work. Another substitution saw Pizarro replaced by Javi in goal, but the flow of Torrevieja’s attacks never waned. A clumsy challenge in the area gave Carmona the chance to make it eight from the penalty spot, which he dispatched confidently. Then, with the final kick of the game, Ernesto capped off the rout, turning home a cross from Otman to complete the 9–0 scoreline. It was a complete performance from start to finish—clinical, confident, and commanding. Manager Piquero’s use of the bench was particularly impressive, with all substitutes contributing meaningfully, including four who found the net. This emphatic victory serves as a warning to the rest of the Lliga Comunitat: SC Torrevieja CF are a team full of firepower and depth, capable of dismantling any opponent. Don Mattingly unable to win elusive World Series ring, mum on whether retirement is next

TORONTO — Blue Jays coach Don Mattingly 36th MLB season, this one with what he calls a “special, special” team, ended with one of the toughest World Series defeats imaginable in Mattingly’s first appearance in the Fall Classic. But afterward, Mattingly wasn’t saying whether his illustrious 36-year major league career might be coming to a close, too. “Tough time to talk about that,” Mattingly told The Post outside the Jays clubhouse after the Jays’ 5-4, 11-inning Game 7 defeat left them as World Series runners-up to the repeat champion $400M Dodgers. Mattingly, a consummate professional over a superb 14-year playing career and 22-year managing and coaching career, wanted people to know what he thought of this Blue Jays team that exceeded all expectations by taking the $400M Dodgers to the limit. “Special, special group,” Mattingly said of his Jays. “I don’t think I’ve ever been a group quite like this, everything Schneids [Blue Jays manager John Schneider] created, and the group created.” Mattingly’s been around all kinds of teams, from the East Coast to the West, from big-market to small, and now in Canada. And he has seen just about everything. But he was obviously hoping for his first World Series championship. Schneider talks admiringly of Mattingly, his boyhood hero, and all he’s done for a team that exceeded expectations like few others, winning the American League pennant, then coming within two outs of stamping themselves one of the biggest surprise champions. “This is a team,” Mattingly declared. “This is the definition of team.” Mattingly should know. He has experienced all kinds of seasons in his 14 years as a Yankees player, 12 years as manager (five with the Dodgers, and seven with the Marlins) and 10 years as a Yankees, Dodgers and now Blue Jays coach, where he serves as a sounding board and confidant for Schneider, who grew in New Jersey admiring Mattingly. The ending with a lost lead very late, and so many lost chances triggered a lot of tears in the Jays clubhouse, from their many young players to some of their most veteran guys. Mattingly has seen all sorts of October disappointment, including a heart-wrenching playoff defeat with the 1995 Yankees and exits as coach and manager, including three times with these Dodgers, and he held it together while chaperoning his 10-year-old son. “What can you say? The chances …’” Mattingly noted, recounting some of the lost opportunities. “A lot of things happened … What a series, though.” The nine-time Gold Glover winner Mattingly said he’s off to the Gold Glove dinner in New York on Nov. 7, where his foundation, Mattingly Charities, will be honored with the prestigious Hearts of Gold award Nov. 7, then his foundation (Mattingly Charities) dinner on Nov. 20 in his hometown, Evansville, Ind. That will feature country music star Larry Fleet and fellow Hoosier Scott Rolen, the Hall of Fame third baseman. But this series surely will stick with him for a little while. “Incredible year,” he said. “Incredible ride.” Mattingly, however, wouldn’t say if his wonderful nearly four-decade ride might be coming to a close.

Moment Huntingdon train 'terror' attack exploded: Victim screamed 'someone's got a knife' before 'barbaric' blade rampage left nine people fighting for their lives in hospital

Were YOU there? Email freya.barnes@dailymail.co.uk By FREYA BARNES, NEWS REPORTER and SHANNON MCGUIGAN, NEWS REPORTER and PADRAIC FLANAGAN and ANDREW YOUNG Published: 08:45 GMT, 2 November 2025 | Updated: 08:51 GMT, 2 November 2025 Witnesses who were onboard when the Huntingdon train 'terror' attack unfolded have recalled the terrifying moment a victim came running down the carriage screaming 'someone's got a knife'. Two people have been arrested after a knife rampage on London North Eastern Railway (LNER) Doncaster to London King's Cross train saw 10 people rushed to hospital with stab wounds. British Transport Police received reports of the incident at 6.25pm yesterday before rushing to the scene in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, where armed officers boarded the train and detained the two suspects. Passenger Olly Foster, who was in coach H, described how he was listening to an audiobook when a man 'suddenly ran past screaming "Run! Run! There's a guy stabbing literally everyone and everything".' Mr Foster said he and some other passengers thought it was a 'joke' or a 'Halloween prank' at first but 'quickly realised they were serious' by the look on their face. He explained how his hand was 'covered in blood' after he put it on a chair as he ran through the carriage. 'There was blood on the top of countless chairs, coming from 2 of the guys who had been severely stabbed ahead of me,' he said. 'A young girl was distraught as the attacker tried to stab her, but a hero of an older man got in the way taking a gash on his forehead and I think another on his neck.' Were YOU there? Run! There's a guy stabbing literally everyone and everything"' Mr Foster and the other horrified passengers ran to the end of the short train and queued up where he and a few others tried to find a weapon to defend themselves with in case the attackers came. One person, who Mr Foster knew, had a Jack Daniel's bottle which he armed himself with. Mr Foster said: 'I knew he had a knife from everyone’s wounds but from somebody’s previous comments there was a chance he had a gun. So I stood there praying. 'We all tried to keep calm but you could feel everyone’s adrenaline.' He said the train eventually stopped moving and everyone ran off, adding: 'As I ran out, I looked to my right knowing that’s where the attacker would come and that’s when I saw about 20 people running in pure panic. 'At least 3 of which were covered in blood. One guy was holding his stomach of which blood was pouring out, shouting, "help help, I’ve been stabbed".' Mr Foster recalled how helpless he and the other passengers felt 'being completely unarmed against an attacker or attackers that we thought had a gun'. 'I’m not sure how travelling on trains will feel after this. I haven’t really processed it all. It felt genuinely surreal and is something I don’t wish anyone to experience. 'Knowing somebody has weapons and you have nothing, knowing they’re willing to strike woman and I think children. It wasn’t the England I grew up in. That was barbaric.' Wren Chambers, who was also onboard, told the BBC she heard shouting coming from a carriage or two down. She added: 'Then a minute or two later, a man comes running down with a very clear wound bleeding quite badly on his arm and I thought it was a Halloween prank at first but then he was shouting that someone's got a knife, he was stabbed. 'Then a few more people came running down the train and I grabbed my bag and my coat then I got up and moved forward down the train after them and then it just ended up all the passengers along the train just packing forwards.' Wren Chambers, who was also onboard, told the BBC she heard shouting coming from a carriage or two down Police officers and emergency personnel work at the scene on Sunday morning following the mass stabbing on Saturday evening Armed forces rushing to the scene where several people on a train travelling through Cambridgeshire were stabbed Ms Chambers said she 'saw someone who was very badly injured lots of blood around them' who looked like they were 'either collapsed or about to fall over'. 'People were trying to pass back hoodies to pack the wound,' she added. The brave passenger made sure someone called the emergency services. She said: 'There was a girl next to me who was near where the first stabbings happened. She said the man on the floor stepped in front of her and then got stabbed in the neck. 'We all just got of the train as calmly as possible as we were like there's no point piling on to each other. We knew the attacker was likely to still be on the train further down the line.' The force has declared the attack a 'major incident' and is probing the stabbing spree alongside counter-terrorism police. Police had at one point declared Code Plato, a word used by police and emergency services when responding to a 'marauding terror attack'. However, this declaration was later rescinded, BTP confirmed. Thirty officers rushed to the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) Doncaster to London King's Cross service after it stopped in the Cambridgeshire town. The attack is believed to have begun shortly after the train left Peterborough. Passengers are said to have hid in toilets as one suspect carried a 'big knife', witnesses said, while others claimed they were trampled on as distressed passengers attempted to flee the chaos. Armed police descended on the platform and 'tasered a man waving a large knife', bystanders also claimed. However, this declaration was later rescinded, BTP confirmed (Pictured: Police patrolling the station on Sunday morning) Police raced to Huntingdon Station after several people were stabbed on a train in the area of Huntingdon on Saturday Videos also emerged on social media showing police cars racing to the scene as armed officers raced to the platform at around 7.42pm on Saturday. Chief Superintendent Chris Casey said: 'This is a shocking incident and first and foremost my thoughts are with those who have been injured this evening and their families. 'We're conducting urgent enquiries to establish what has happened, and it could take some time before we are in a position to confirm anything further. At this early stage it would not be appropriate to speculate on the causes of the incident. 'Our response is ongoing at the station and will be for some time. Cordons are in place and trains are not currently running through the area, and there are also some road closures. 'I thank the public for their patience and their cooperation this evening which has already greatly assisted our policing response. We will update you again as soon as we have more information.' A passenger named Gavin recalled several people moving through the train during the horror attack, while hearing one say: 'They've got a knife. I have been stabbed.' 'They were making their way through to get away from the suspect,' he told Sky News. 'They were extremely bloodied. 'That person, when we pulled in, they were basically on the floor; we couldn't progress further down the train because that person ended up collapsing.' 'We were ushered out of the station from the platform, and there were multiple people who had been stabbed who were making their way down.' Passengers were then escorted off the train onto the platform at Huntingdon, he said. 'The armed police were pointing to the suspect as we came off the train.' Train operator LNER issued a 'do not travel' warning to passengers, saying 'disruption is expected until the end of the day'. Police cars and Ambulances are pictured outside Huntingdon Station in Cambridgeshire Emergency services were still scouring the scene in the hours after the attack Passenger Gavin recalled several people moving through the train, and hearing one say, 'They've got a knife. I have been stabbed' In the hours after the attack, forensic officers could be seen apparently searching for clues on the track at the side of the train, which still had its lights on. White-suited specialist officers, including one with a dog were seen entering the station as a police drone hovered overhead. Another member of the force, also with a police dog, was seen carrying out a sweep of the main station car park. Eight police vans arrived and parked in a line outside the station shortly before midnight, bringing yet more officers to the scene. Several people who had left cars in the car park were allowed to retrieve their vehicles. Two air ambulances responded to the scene, while other paramedics and emergency service personnel were also seen on the platform beside the train. More than a dozen police, ambulance and incident support vehicles including several with blue flashing lights remained gathered in the main car park of the station. Another four police cars blocked entrances to the car parks either side of the tracks to stop onlookers from approaching. A large group of officers were seen outside the entrance to the main station beside what appeared to be a pile of first aid equipment. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer described the 'appalling' incident near Huntingdon as 'deeply concerning'. 'My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response,' he said in a statement. 'Anyone in the area should follow the advice of the police.' The A1307 in the direction of the town centre was closed as the incident remained ongoing, Cambridgeshire Constabulary said. 'My thoughts go out to all those affected. Two suspects have been immediately arrested and taken into custody,' she said. 'I am receiving regular updates on the investigation. I urge people to avoid comment and speculation at this early stage.' Secretary of State Heidi Alexander echoed her colleagues' messages while adding that she was being updated on the matter and is working closely with the police. Tory Party leader Kemi Badenoch said: 'Deeply disturbed by the reports emerging from Huntingdon. 'This is an absolutely horrific attack and my thoughts are with all those affected, including the emergency responders at the scene.' Chris Philip, the shadow Home Secretary, added: 'Horrific scenes in Huntingdon, in what seems to be a brutal mass attack by two perpetrators,' he said. 'My thoughts are with all those injured or affected and the emergency services responding. 'The police and government should provide an update on what happened and who has been arrested as soon as possible.' Local Labour councillor Alex Bulat voiced her sympathies for those affected amid ongoing reports. 'Really worrying,' she wrote to Facebook, 'My thoughts are with the victims and their families.' Huntingdon train stabbing: Everything we know so far about the attack that left nine in critical condition

Counter-terrorism police have joined an investigation into a mass stabbing on a train in Cambridgeshire which left nine people with life-threatening injuries. The attack happened on Saturday evening aboard the 6.25pm London North Eastern Railway (LNER) service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. The train had just left Peterborough station when a man armed with a large knife launched into a violent rampage. Passengers describe scenes of panic Passengers described scenes of chaos and terror as the man began stabbing travellers at random. Witnesses said people screamed, hid in toilets and trampled over each other trying to escape. One man, who gave his name as Gavin, told Sky News: “Essentially, as they got closer to him, started shouting, like, get down, get down. He then was waving a knife, quite a large knife, and then they detained him. I think it was a Taser that got him down in the end.” Another passenger, Olly Foster, told the BBC he initially thought the shouts of “run, run, there’s a guy literally stabbing everyone” were part of a Halloween prank. He later realised the horror was real, saying his hand was “covered in blood” after leaning on a chair where someone had been injured. Foster added that an older man “blocked” the attacker from stabbing a younger girl, suffering wounds to his head and neck in the process. “The incident felt like forever,” he said. Armed police storm train at Huntingdon The train was stopped at Huntingdon station, where armed officers stormed the carriages and Tasered one suspect before making arrests. Two people have been detained. British Transport Police declared a major incident and briefly activated “Plato” — the national protocol for a “marauding terror attack” — before it was stood down. A total of 10 people were taken to hospital, including nine with life-threatening injuries and one with non life-threatening injuries. Chief Superintendent Chris Casey said: “This is a shocking incident and first and foremost my thoughts are with those who have been injured this evening and their families. “We’re conducting urgent enquiries to establish what has happened, and it could take some time before we are in a position to confirm anything further. At this early stage it would not be appropriate to speculate on the causes of the incident.” Cordons remain in place and trains are not running through the area, with some road closures around Huntingdon station. ‘Appalling and devastating,’ says local MP Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer described the mass stabbing as an “appalling” and “deeply concerning” incident, saying his thoughts were with those affected and thanking emergency services for their swift response. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said she was “deeply saddened” and urged the public to “avoid comment and speculation at this early stage.” Huntingdon MP Ben Obese-Jecty called the attack “appalling and devastating”. He added: “My thoughts are with all those victims who were injured during this heinous attack. I would like to pay tribute to the incredible and immediate response of the emergency services, particularly the Response Officers from Cambridgeshire Constabulary who were first to arrive on the scene.” Train disruption to last until Monday David Horne, managing director of LNER, said the company was “deeply shocked and saddened by this serious incident”. “Our thoughts are very much with everyone involved,” he said. “I would like to thank the emergency services for their quick and professional response and the care they have provided to those injured. The safety and wellbeing of everyone affected will remain our priority.” LNER said disruption on services between London King’s Cross and Lincoln, Doncaster, Leeds, Bradford Forster Square and Harrogate is expected to last until Monday, with passengers advised to delay travel where possible. The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said: “We are horrified by the mass stabbing attack on an LNER train last night. Our thoughts remain with the train crew and passengers who were either at work or going about their business on a busy Saturday night during this awful incident.” “It is important we allow the emergency services and authorities to establish the full facts before commenting further.” Counter-terrorism police continue to support British Transport Police in the investigation as officers work to piece together the events that led to the shocking attack. Israeli air attack kills four in Lebanon, straining fragile ceasefire

In a statement on Saturday, the Lebanese Health Ministry announced that the Israeli raid in the town of Kfarsir in the Nabatieh district also wounded three. The state-run Lebanon News Agency reported that the strike, which involved a “guided missile”, targeted a car at about 2:15pm (16:15 GMT). The attack came a day after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun accused Israel of escalating strikes in response to his offer to negotiate a more lasting end to the cross-border attacks. The conflict began in 2023 when Hezbollah began launching attacks on Israel in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, in the wake of the Hamas-led October 7 attacks on southern Israel. After more than a year of fighting, the two sides agreed to a ceasefire in November 2024. Despite the truce, Israel has kept troops in five areas of southern Lebanon and has continued near-daily air raids, repeatedly violating the truce. Israel claims it is targeting Hezbollah, but civilians, first responders and journalists have also been killed. According to the United Nations, Israeli troops have killed at least 111 civilians in Lebanon since the ceasefire went into effect. Aoun, who called for negotiations with Israel in mid-October, after United States President Donald Trump brokered a ceasefire, said his proposed talks seek to “end the Israeli occupation”. For its part, Israel has claimed Lebanon’s government has not upheld its side of the ceasefire by failing to constrain and disarm Hezbollah. The armed group rejects the pressure for it to disarm. In another sign of heightening tensions, Aoun earlier this week instructed Lebanon’s armed forces to confront any new Israeli incursion in the south. The order came hours after Israeli soldiers entered the border town of Blida. They stormed the town hall, killing municipal worker Ibrahim Salameh, who had been sleeping there, the state-owned National News Agency (NNA) said. Israel’s military said the operation was meant to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure, saying that soldiers had opened fire in response to an “immediate threat”. They did not provide further details or evidence behind the killing.

Teen driver charged with killing 3 University of Arizona students in Porsche hit-and-run crosswalk crash

Three University of Arizona students are dead after police said a speeding, impaired 19-year-old driver behind the wheel of a Porsche allegedly hit them in a marked crosswalk near campus and drove off into the night Thursday. The alleged driver of the Porsche, Louis John Artal, 19, is charged with three counts of second-degree murder, and one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving death, according to the Tucson Police Department (TPD). At about 11 p.m. Thursday, TPD officers, the University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD) and Tucson firefighters responded to North Euclid Avenue and East Second Street for reports of multiple pedestrians hit by a car. When officers and firefighters arrived, they pronounced Sophia Akimi Troetel, 21, and Josiah Patrick Santos, 22, dead at the scene. A third pedestrian, later identified as Katya Rosaura Castillo Mendoza, 21, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries in critical condition. She was pronounced dead at the hospital Saturday, according to officials. The University of Arizona confirmed to Fox News Digital all three victims were University of Arizona students. “The University of Arizona community is deeply saddened by the collision that claimed the lives of three of our students—Sophia Troetel, Josiah Santos and Katya Castillo-Mendoza,” school officials wrote in a statement. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, loved ones, and all who are grieving these young lives cut tragically short. The university is providing support and resources to students, faculty, and staff affected by this devastating loss.” Witness interviews, along with roadway and physical evidence, indicated a 2019 Porsche Boxter was traveling north on Euclid Avenue approaching East Second Street above the posted 30 mph speed limit, according to police. At that time, Troetel, Santos and Mendoza were walking east across North Euclid Avenue inside a marked crosswalk at East Second Street. The Porsche did not stop, struck the pedestrians and fled the scene, officials allege. Artal turned himself into Tucson police Friday morning. A TPD officer with the agency’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Unit evaluated Artal and found he was impaired by alcohol and or drugs at the time of the crash, according to authorities. “Mr. Artal’s impairment, speeding, and failure to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk are the major contributing factors of this collision,” the department wrote in a statement. “This investigation remains ongoing, and any additional information may be released at a later date as it becomes available.” Artal was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center and later granted a $250,000 cash bond, according to jail records. A GoFundMe campaign was set up by Santos’ mother, Mathia, noting her son and Troetel were in a relationship. “Last night, my beautiful son Josiah and his girlfriend Sophia were taken from us far too soon,” Mathia wrote on the site. “They were young, full of life, love, and promise—ready to begin their future together. Josiah sang, he danced, he acted — he lit up every room he entered and brought laughter to everyone who knew him. Sophia matched his warmth with a beautiful soul and a smile that could brighten the darkest day.” “The world feels dimmer without their light,” she continued. “Please keep our family, and Sophia’s, in your thoughts and prayers as we try to find our way through this heartbreak.” As of Saturday night, the campaign had raised nearly $24,000. There have been 26 pedestrian deaths in Tucson this year, surpassing the 25 total pedestrian deaths in the city in 2024.

Danika Mason’s fiancee makes stunning call on future

Knight has played 83 NRL games for a host of clubs, but signed a deal to join Super League club Hull FC back in March after struggling for game time. Watch the biggest Aussie sports & the best from overseas LIVE on Kayo Sports | New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1. The 30-year-old was originally set to spend seven months in the UK playing for Hull, but after becoming a fan favourite and one of the club’s most consistent players, he penned a new 12-month deal back in July. It was a somewhat surprising decision, given that it means he would spend another year, some 17,000 km away from the Today show presenter. Since then, the couple has continued going from strength to strength, announcing their engagement during a holiday away in Italy. And it led English fans to fear he would renege on his new deal with Hull. That speculation only intensified when he spoke of his desire to return to Australia to be back close to Mason and his family this week. “I want to come back to the NRL,” Knight said on the Elevate with Mets podcast. “I love it over there (in England). I love playing footy. The crowds are hectic, the fans are cool, it’s good quality football. “I went there to win, I’m not there on a holiday. I’m over here doing long distance, missing everyone at home, my girlfriend and everyone. “I’m not here to muck around. I want to make a difference and be a leader, win some games and then come back to the NRL.” It saw his comment section flooded with questions about his playing future. But on Sunday, he squashed any talk he would return Down Under before the end of the 2026 Super League season, with an Instagram story that simply said: “Hull fans – I’ll be seeing you next year.” While his career is thriving, it means it is another tough year of navigating long distance with Mason. Their relationship has blossomed in a short time, with the pair spending as much time as possible together outside of their tricky work commitments. But while it is undoubtedly hard to be away from his partner, Knight has previously said his move to Hull has helped him rediscover his love for rugby league. “It’s been a real ride so far – I got off the plane in March and jumped straight into it,” Knight said. “I didn’t have much of a pre-season, so the first few weeks were about building some fitness, and I feel like I’ve been building week to week and contributing to the team. “I had a couple of tough years back home in regard to injury, so coming over to England was a bit of a clean slate for me. I’ve really found my love for the sport again, so this move has been a massive blessing for me.”

MK Stalin chairs all-party meeting against SIR; warns of ‘Bihar-style tactics’ in Tamil Nadu

MK Stalin chairs all-party meeting against SIR; warns of ‘Bihar-style tactics’ in Tamil Nadu Stalin called the meeting as a "democratic duty to safeguard the voting rights of the people of Tamil Nadu" and proposed a draft resolution. Synopsis: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin chaired an all-party meeting on 2 November, opposing the Election Commission’s special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging it’s a tactic to disenfranchise voters like in Bihar. Allies VCK, CPI(M), Congress backed a resolution against it, viewing it as an assault on citizenship. 40 of 64 invited parties attended. Meanwhile, key opponents like TMK, PMK and NTK etc remained absent. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, on Sunday, 2 November, chaired an all-party meeting at the state Secretariat to discuss the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, alleging that the process is being misused nationally to remove genuine voters ahead of elections. Stalin accused the central authorities of replicating tactics used in Bihar, where voter list revisions allegedly threatened and deprived people of their voting rights. “In Bihar, the revision of the voter list was carried out in a manner that threatened people and deprived them of their voting rights, and a similar plan is now being prepared for other states, including Tamil Nadu,” he stated. A calculated political move Stresses the need for fairness Stressing the need for fairness, Stalin remarked, “No one denies that a fair election requires an accurate voter list. But there must be sufficient time, and the process must happen in a calm and non-intimidating environment. Only then can the revision be done properly.” He further slammed the timing, saying, “Attempting a full-scale revision just months before an election is not electoral reform — it is a tactic to remove genuine voters. What they did in Bihar is now being attempted to repeat in other states.” #SIR in Tamil Nadu: We will resist disenfranchisement and defeat #VoteTheft. Allies rally behind Stalin VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan viewed the SIR as broader than an electoral issue. “SIR of the electoral rolls is not an attack on voting rights alone; it is an attack on citizenship,” he said. Welcoming Stalin’s initiative, he added, “VCK welcomes the urgent steps the CM has taken to confront the danger posed by SIR. The Chief Minister has proposed a draft resolution on how to oppose this, and we welcome that.” Thirumavalavan alleged a hidden agenda, stating, “This is not merely an assault on voting rights — it is an assault on citizenship. This is the political understanding we need.” He added, “They claim they are asking for documents to verify citizenship. But their real justification is that this is not about verifying citizenship; instead, they argue that names appearing in the voter list since 2002 should simply be reconciled. The real purpose of this exercise is to implement citizenship laws covertly by using the Election Commission. They need an NRC to announce the final list. That is why they are using this process. We must view this politically — the Election Commission has no authority to carry out this task.” He also urged legal intervention. “Those responsible should fix the voter list by proper means. The law says this must not be done within one year of elections. It should be done a year before or after the elections. Let the Supreme Court decide — let the case finish. They are doing this to implement a national citizenship regime; we must not allow it. We strongly oppose it,“ he concluded. Also Read: SIR: A weapon of exclusion? Kerala NRIs share their concerns CPI(M) calls for public mobilisation CPI(M) leader P Shanmugam called for public mobilisation: “We must raise awareness about what rights of Tamil Nadu people will be taken away by the SIR of the electoral rolls, and how voting rights will be stripped. We have repeatedly raised our voice against the problems the Centre causes for Tamil Nadu. The Marxist Communist Party calls for leading public protests condemning this move.” Congress leader K Selva Perunthagai too pledged full support. He said, “The special intensive revision of the electoral rolls must be opposed by democratic means. We must reject and throw out the burdens this will place on Tamil Nadu. Congress stands fully behind the actions the Chief Minister MK Stalin is taking.” He alleged political motives, adding, “Since victory by democratic means is not possible for the BJP in Tamil Nadu, they, along with the Election Commission, are planning and attempting to implement this measure.” Out of 64 political parties invited, 40 attended the meeting, while 21 stayed away. Notable absentees included TVK, AMMK, PMK – Ramadoss, Tamil Maanila Congress, NTK, India Jananayaga Katchi, Perunthalaivar Makkal Katchi, Puthiya Tamilagam, and others.
