Cleaning worker who mistakenly went to wrong home fatally shot: Police

A 32-year-old woman who was part of a cleaning crew was fatally shot at an Indiana home after the workers mistakenly went to the wrong address, police said. The shooting occurred Wednesday morning in a subdivision of Whitestown, located approximately 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis, police said. Officers responding to a 911 call reporting a possible home invasion shortly before 7 a.m. found the woman dead on the front porch of the residence with a gunshot wound, Whitestown police said. The gun had been fired from inside the home, according to Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Capt. John Jurkash. "It was later determined that the individuals attempting to enter the home were members of a cleaning crew who had mistakenly arrived at the wrong address," the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement, adding that "the facts gathered do not support" that a home invasion occurred. The Boone County Coroner's Office identified the shooting victim on Thursday as 32-year-old Maria Florinda Rios Perez de Velasquez of Indianapolis. She died from a gunshot wound to the head, the coroner's office said. Velasquez's husband told ABC Indianapolis affiliate WRTV that they had been cleaning homes for seven months and he was with her when she was shot. "I never thought it was a shot, but I realized when my wife took two steps back, she looked like she'd been hit in the head," her husband, Mauricio Velasquez, told WRTV in Spanish. "She fell into my arms, and I saw the blood. It went everywhere," he told the station. They have four children, the youngest 11 months old, according to WRTV. "What I need now is for there to be justice, because he took her life, in that sense," he told WRTV. "I don't believe that's human." The investigation remains ongoing, police said. Jurkash told reporters in a briefing Wednesday that detectives are working to "unravel what exactly happened and if applicable what charges there would be." "We are working closely with the Boone County Prosecutor's Office to ensure every aspect of this case is handled with care and diligence," police said, noting that updates may take several days "due to the complexity of the investigation." The Boone County Prosecutor's Office told WRTV on Thursday that they are still determining whether the shooter will face any charges, the station reported.

Caitlin Clark Reacts to Fever Teammate’s Major News After WNBA Season

The WNBA season ended weeks ago, but off-court developments continue with the Indiana Fever. The team is anticipating the return of healthy Caitlin Clark next season, so they can make another run at the playoffs and potentially reach the WNBA Finals. That will depend on whether or not they can also bring back other core members of the roster, including Sophie Cunningham, who suffered a season-ending injury. Her injury occurred after Clark became sidelined, and she’s been in recovery mode since then. Cunningham became a sort of enforcer for Clark, gaining notoriety and publicity after she got payback for an opponent’s rough foul. It resulted in punishments for both Cunningham and the Connecticut Sun player she took down. However, it also brought Cunningham a newfound respect from fans and helped her gain a massive social media following. Ahead of their potential reunion for the next WNBA season, they’ll reunite for another significant sports event. Clark, a Gainbridge ambassador, recently revealed her participation in the LGPA Tour’s Pro-Am event for The Annika at Pelican Golf Club. (Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images) While Clark is a full participant, her teammate will have a different role. A recent announcement revealed Cunningham is one of the guest caddies at the event. In addition, their Fever teammate, Lexie Hull, is a guest caddie. Cunningham shared the big news on her official Instagram Story, simply using the word “FOUR!” to reveal her excitement about participating. “yea clearly we have a lot to learn about golf…,” Clark wrote over the social media post when she reshared it, informing Cunningham, “It’s fore bud.” Caitlin Clark is trolling Sophie Cunningham for saying Four instead of Fore. "Yeah you clearly got a lot to learn about golf, it's Fore bud." Sophie will troll Caitlin back as always. pic.twitter.com/uYyvMAuiMU— CaitlinFor3 (@CaitlinForThree) November 5, 2025 During her recent “Show Me Something” podcast with West Wilson, Cunningham mentioned the funny golf term mix-up. “I didn’t know. I knew I probably shoulda looked it up before I put it all on my social media,” Cunningham told her co-host, adding, “I don’t know s*** about golf.” “I have no idea what I’m going to be doing. I don’t even know how I got invited,” she confessed. This is Clark’s return to the event, formally known as The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, after participating last year. Golf star Annika Sorenstam is the host of the event, which features the world’s best women golfers, and all proceeds benefit the ANNIKA Foundation. The big event featuring Clark, Cunningham, and Hull occurs next week. Clark, a Gainbridge ambassador, begins her participation on Wednesday, Nov. 12, during the event’s Pro-Am. Acting legend Russell Crowe reveals how FOOTY led him to the love of his life

READ MORE: Russell Crowe calls US the 'greatest country in the world' By MICHAEL PONTICELLO Published: 00:00 GMT, 7 November 2025 | Updated: 00:00 GMT, 7 November 2025 Gladiator star Russell Crowe, who is also the co-owner of the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL team, has revealed how rugby league helped him find love. The 61-year-old has spoken publicly to Joe Rogan as a guest on the 'Joe Rogan Experience' podcast. Crowe and Rogan discussed a variety of topics in their almost three hour discussion, which has been played over 1 million times on Spotify. But it was rugby league, and the simple nature of being able to understand the sport, even as a newcomer, that was brought up. Crowe, who has now been dating girlfriend Britney Theriot for five years, has explained that one of the main reasons he started being attracted to the 33-year-old, was her ability to pick up the sport quickly. 'My girlfriend at the moment, Britney, [her ability to understand the game within a matter of minutes], was one of the reasons I really started being attracted to her ', he told Rogan. Russell Crowe's almost three hour long podcast with Rogan (pictured) has something for everyone Crowe, and girlfriend Britney Theriot (pictured) reportedly first met on the set of the film Broken City in 2013. When speaking about rugby league and it's potential for growth in the US, Crowe revealed how the way it is refereed might prove challenging. 'Rugby league is a very easy game for Americans to follow. Now, how it's refereed becomes frustrating for American audiences, because there's so much room for interpretation', he said. Crowe has been involved in rugby league ever since childhood, as a supporter of the South Sydney Rabbitohs. But it was in 2006 that he took his loyalty to another level, by purchasing a 75 per cent stake that was worth $3 million. Crowe subsequently became a co-owner of the club, and helped save the team from financial distress. He saw the Rabbitohs break a 43-year premiership drought back in 2014, and remains as one of rugby league's most recognisable faces. Crowe's relationship with Theriot has been a major talking point in recent times, over rumours the pair are now engaged. But the divorced father-of-two, who was previously married to singer Danielle Spencer, has revealed he never intends to marry again. The YouTube version of Rogan's new podcast with Crowe has received over 800,000 views on YouTube since its release Crowe, and ex-wife Danielle Spencer (pictured) were from 2003 - 2012, before finalising their divorce in 2018 The acting legend has been spotted at hundreds of NRL games since he became co-owner of the Rabbitohs SpotifySouth Sydney RabbitohsRussell Crowe Share or comment on this article: Acting legend Russell Crowe reveals how FOOTY led him to the love of his life Add comment

Paroled Man with Violent Past Accused in Fatal Teen Stabbing: Authorities Report

A man with a history of violent crime is facing charges for the fatal stabbing of a teenager at a Walmart in Georgia. Authorities in Savannah reported that 48-year-old Delano Middleton allegedly attacked J.T. Schroeder, an 18-year-old, on October 23 at a Walmart store. The incident, which police described as an “altercation,” resulted in Schroeder being injured, and he sadly succumbed to his injuries four days later, as noted by the Chatham County Police Department on X. Middleton now faces murder charges in connection with the stabbing. WTOC reported that the altercation began when Schroeder allegedly kicked Middleton’s shopping cart. The outlet also highlighted Middleton’s prior criminal record, noting that he had previously stabbed a woman multiple times four years ago. Schroeder had dreams of becoming a merchant Marine and already had a sponsorship, according to his obituary. “The world lost a beautiful soul far too soon,” his obituary states. “JT loved people deeply and had a smile that could light up any room. His heart was so big that he had countless friends, each one feeling like they were his favorite. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and included, whether you were a lifelong friend or someone he’d just met.” The 18-year-old donated organs after his death, according to the obituary, and gave “the gift of life to seven families.” Criminal past On Oct. 22, 2021, Erica Young said, Middleton walked into the U-Haul store she was working at and stole keys that were behind the desk. Then, he went outside where he planned on taking a truck, WTOC reported. Middleton then stabbed Young in the stomach and head several times in an attack she said was unprovoked, according to the outlet. “When I was on the ground, he told me that he wanted to watch me bleed out,” Young said. “I’ve never met him before that day, never had any contact with him.” In December 2023, Middleton took a negotiated plea deal, pleading guilty to aggravated assault. As part of the deal, Middleton spent two years in prison followed by eight years of probation. Young said the punishment was too lenient and only encouraged him to be violent in the future. “Honestly, this is my true opinion on it,” Young said. “He got away with the stabbing of me, so he thought he could get away with it again.” The stabbing victim said Schroeder’s death made her wish she had fought for a harsher sentence. “I’m so sorry for their loss,” Young said. “It made me wish I fought more. Then he wouldn’t have been able to get out of the streets. But I have two kids, so I fled. We packed up our entire house.” Middleton is being held on no bond at the Chatham County Jail.

Sargassum Swarm Took A Toll On Tourism

And it continued to pile up after July - and has only recently subsided. Today we spoke to the Executive Director via Zoom from Riyadh where he is attending a tourism conference. He said this year's sargassum load did cause cancellations: Jules Vasquez "How do you see it? The year that went, the losses or cancellations that occurred as a consequence of sargassum. And what can we do to mitigate that going forward?" Efren Perez, Exec Director - BTIA "Well, you know, sargassum had a huge impact. Again, in the traveler coming in, you know, hotels had a huge impact in losses. In terms of, of, of not only, the reservations part of it, but also from their own assets that they had within, within their properties. I mean, the loss is quantifiable. And nonetheless, I think moving forward from there, I think that, we are working very closely right now with Ministry of Tourism for us to be able to come up with a plan whereby, we prepare ourselves from now." "There is continuous dialogue, I can tell you, in terms of looking at the grander picture, in terms of how is it that we can collaborate again. Right now the key here is collaboration between public and private sector. It has to happen. You know, one cannot work without the other. And that's the reality of a private sector is the one who really pushes, and, and really is the, is the money earner for the industry." "And so there has to be, an area whereby private sector sits at the table, for us to be able to have that collaboration at hand, for us to be able to, to, to discuss ways in which, we can combat, the impacts of sargassum on our tourism industry, you know, be it through, getting waivers for, for members in the industry who already have machinery, who already have, investments that they've made, in terms of, of beach maintenance and cleanup." "But also the opportunities that lie ahead where, government can play a key role in terms of making greater investments for us to be able to mitigate the issues." Jules Vasquez "Will there be an emphasis on preemptive planning for the next sargassum season? Because we know it will come?" Efren Perez, Exec Director - BTIA "No, absolutely. I, like I said, I think the discussion has not stopped. You know, we're definitely working hand in hand right now with the Ministry of Tourism." "You know, I've had conversations with both CEO and Minister Mahler in terms of, you know, having, an opportunity right now, like you said, a breeding window for us to really look at what has what has worked and what hasn't worked in this past year, what starting to prepare from now. If we don't prepare from now, we will be at the same point next year where we were fighting sargassum, trying to figure out how we're going to clean up, and being faced to the impact that the industry has in terms of, you know, losing reservations and all, that they lost within, this past year."

Home Invasion Led To Vehicle Theft In Border Community

Home Invasion Led To Vehicle Theft In Border Community posted (November 7, 2025) EmailAnd earlier this morning out in Bullet Tree. Cayo another 2 person robbery was orchestrated- but this one was a home invasion. And - in this border adjacent community, the robbers may have been after a 2013 Dodge pickup truck. ASP Smith told us more: ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer "On Friday November 7th at around 2:15AM police responded to a report of an aggravated burglary on Guana Belly Road, Bullet tree village in the Cayo district. Police spoke to an occupant of the residence who stated that sometime after 2:00 AM when he was making his way into his residence he was accosted by 2 male persons who forced him inside his home and subsequently restrained him and stole and number of items from him which include a pick up truck, being a Dodge ram with license plate C-15217 valuing over $45,000. Upon learning of this incident police put into place a number of operational efforts and we have retrieved and are in the process of reviewing a number of video footages that we believe will assist us with this ongoing investigation." "We have not been able to conclusively come down on a position however as you rightfully said it is common for vehicle theft in that area to be with a view of taking it across the border and that is the reason why several operational efforts were put in place and are still underway." "So we are conducting further operations in the area to see where the vehicle may now be stashed, because of the efforts we have made along the border line." Woman Imprisoned In Home By Lurking Crocs In The Wilds Of Gungulung

Anna Wallace has not left her home since Sunday. That's because, not only is it surrounded by stagnant water, leftover from the September rains, but there are crocodiles living in it. This past weekend, she and her daughter, who lives in the house in front of her, noticed a baby croc basking on the cement block directly in front of her door. Now Wallace is asking for help because she's too scared to leave her home. Anna Wallace, Resident "I'm afraid that's why I don't come out and then the water makes my two knees hurt. And then I would just want you to give me a helping hand to move the water or move the crocodile or something because I'm scared." Courtney Menzies: "How close have you seen the crocodile?" Anna Wallace, Resident "Right at my door. Right in front of my door I see it and I'm afraid." Courtney Menzies: "How long has the water been here?" Anna Wallace, Resident "The water is there from September." Courtney Menzies: "From all of that raining." Anna Wallace, Resident "Yes, it came into my house and it rolled out back and it comes in and rolls out. Right now it's flush under the house so another rain comes and it will get in again." Wallace says that one of the issues is that there is no drainage in her neighborhood, so all the yards around hers are also facing the same problem. However, it has also begun to affect her health. Anna Wallace, Resident "We don't have any drains, you could see we have no drains. Maybe if we had a drain, maybe the water wouldn't have stayed there but we don't have any drains. Then you see the neighbors, this neighbor, then behind me, all of them have water and the water is going, everything stays at one spot so most naturally the crocodiles will come in. It has to come in because water is there so it has to come in so when I saw it at my door, I almost fainted because I have pressure, my pressure went sky high, all the way to 300 because first time I'm seeing that so close." "It affects me bad because I can't come out to do anything. Then if I come out it's in this same water I have to come out, go in, come out, go in, my two knees are hurting me. So because I walk in and walk out, it hurts my two knees, then it hurts my throat. So I just needs help." Wallace told us that she tried to reach the area rep via phone and sent him a picture of her yard, but hasn't gotten any response. We reached out to the area rep, Cordel Hyde, who explained that he had missed her message earlier this week, and he will reach out to her urgently to try and alleviate the situation.

DOE Receives Sargassum Tracking Tool

The National Sargassum Task Force has strengthened its ability to monitor and respond to the sargassum swarm that has been smothering Belize's coastline year after year. Today they received a drone, a laptop and a sargassum forecasting tool. Jomarie Lanza was there: Belize now has in its hands a Sargassum Forecasting Tool, a cutting edge digital platform that will now be utilized under the Department of Environment, by its Sargassum Task Force to track the movement of sargassum along Belize's coastline. Chief Met officer Ronald Gordon explained how a tool like this can enhance their early warning capabilities. Ronald Gordon, Chief Meteorologist "It is not actually equipment but it is a modeling tool used to detect and predict the motion of sargassum. As many persons are aware we do issue a sargassum forecast and we are part of the sargassum Taskforce which includes not only the met service but I believe the Fisheries Department, it includes the Department of the Environment, the Ministry of Tourism and others. That task force has been in effect for several years now and since it came into effect our responsibility at the Met service is to detect and predict sargassum in order for those areas that are going to be impacted to make some preparation. When we started this task, we didn't have much tools or rudimentary tools to use so our forecast was pretty much vague. What this tool is going to help us to do is be more precise in where the sargassum is and help us to be more precise in where we expect sargassum to affect the coastline." And while Belize's beaches, and coastal properties suffered greatly in the last 7 months because of the daily volume of sargassum, the tool comes along when the beaches have cleared. Ronald Gordon, Chief Meteorologist "From what I understand it has decreased significantly since the peak in August or so we do know that Sargassum is seasonal so it tends to peak during the summer months and decrease during the what we call our winter which is December to January so right now although there are some small mats still they are not as big or as impactful as it was previously." DOE's Deputy Chief Environmental Officer says it's better late than never. Edgar Ek, Deputy Chief Environmental Officer, DOE "It is not in its peak right now unfortunately there is a process we have to follow to be able to get the different equipment and tools and we are fortunate that we got it. It is about time because based on the information that we are getting from our regional partners and I must say that Belize is ahead of everybody in the region with everything we are doing in terms of sargassum management, that there is a changing pattern in terms of when shall we expect sargassum. The information coming to us is that we should start to expect sargassum arriving in the country as early as January when we previously were saying the time was around March or so, so with all of these different tools now we are able to, now we can plan ahead of time and it won't get us by surprise." "The department of the environment was the lead institution in developing the project concept through the Central American commission of environment and Development, we had initially developed the entire project components and we shared that along with the ministry of tourism and the ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation and best on their inputs we made a submission to the Central American commission on environment who approved the project and the project is being funded by the government of Taiwan, we really appreciate that for the implementation of the project." The total value of the tool is $190,000 USD, and features 2 target components: one deals with sargassum and the other is aimed at reducing the pollution of single use plastics and other waste. But 80% of the project is aimed at sargassum management. Ronald Gordon, Chief Meteorologist "The module covers the entire country so we can see from north to south along the coast line and it uses satellite imagery to sort of detect where sargassum is and using computer modules of ocean currents it gives us an idea of where the sargassum will go and also give us a timing where those sargassum mats will impact those areas. In addition to that it gives us an idea how big the mats are and what area what volume it covers so in other words we can more or less give residents of those areas some time to prepare in advance of a sargassum inundation on the coastline." The donation was made possible through the SICA AZUL project and support from Taiwan.

US Flight Cancellations Could Lead To Wobbly Start For Tourism High Season

According to the Executive Director of the BTIA, Belize will feel the effects of it: Jules Vasquez "In the near term, in the immediate short term will it create a shortfall at the start of the high season?" Efren Perez, Exec Director - BTIA "Absolutely. I think that, you know, it is unprecedented. But this significantly right now at the start of the high season, pretty much it will definitely have an impact. You know, it is really beyond our control in terms of what is going on in the US. We are hopeful that it will come to a resolution." "Right now it is pretty much trying to see where we can mitigate the impact that we will have. Brace for it. Because, you know, we don't have any control over what is happening. But really look at it from a perspective whereby it gives us now the opportunity, to realize that there is a need to diversify." "You know, we have Central America, I'm very much engaged in terms of really trying to get the whole, regional integration, on point, and really getting members to, to start to look outside of, of the box, pretty much, noh? To avoid situations like these, as you know. You know, if the US sneezes, you know, we catch the cold, kind of thing. And, and it does reflect right now. You know, it's it's a very, it's going to be very challenging for, for many hoteliers right now. In terms of, you know, the impact that this will create, leading up to high season." "I mean, we're, we're, we're really in the high season, as is, these cancellations right now furlough of workers in the airports in the US, all of this has and will have a direct impact on our industry." So far indications are that international flights will not be affected by the cancellations.

(Photo by Stew Milne/Getty Images) How to Watch Auburn vs Merrimack Date: Thursday, November 6, 2025 Time: 8:00 PM ET Channel: SEC Network+ Stream: ESPN Unlimited (watch now) The Tigers enter this matchup riding a 1-0 start after a 95-90 overtime win and come off a 32-6 campaign last season in which they allowed just 69.4 points per game and opponents shot 40.8 % from the field. Offensively, Auburn ranked among the national leaders, averaging roughly 83.0 points per contest. The Warriors, meanwhile, finished last year at 18-15, averaging only 65.6 points per game (among the lowest nationally), yet they were strong defensively, conceding just 64.2 points per game. With Auburn’s offensive firepower and home-court advantage, they’ll look to impose their tempo early. For Merrimack to make this interesting, they’ll need to flip the script, establish a stronger offensive flow, and stay disciplined defensively. Their biggest challenge: rebounding and field-goal efficiency. Auburn averaged 34.4 boards per game and significantly out-rebounded the Warriors (who ranked 360th nationally in rebounding) last season. If Auburn can dominate the glass and force Merrimack into contested shots, the Tigers should assert control. Expect Auburn to win by a healthy margin unless Merrimack gets hot early and keeps the pace low.
