Job Title: Accountant (Part -time /1 year contract)Organization: Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau (CSSB)Location: 9292 200 Street, Langley, BC Reports To: Accounting ManagerIntroductionThe Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau (CSSB) has been the recognized authority in the cedar shake and shingle industry since 1915. Representing nearly 190 members across Canada and the U.S., including contractors, distributors, manufacturing mills, and treaters, the CSSB is critical in promoting high-quality Certi-label® products throughout North America and Europe. Our organization ensures excellence in cedar shake and shingle roofing and siding applications through technical guidance, quality verification, and recommended installation techniques. Our dedicated team of members, directors, district managers, and staff forms the Certi-Wood® team, which is committed to sustaining and promoting the cedar shake and shingle industry.Position SummaryWe are seeking a Junior Accountant with a minimum of three years of experience in accounting. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced with QuickBooks online, general ledger (G/L), accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), MS Office, and spreadsheet tools. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this position plays a key role in supporting the organization's financial integrity, production accounting and growth.This position is a one-year contract role to cover a parental leave.Key Responsibilities1. Bookkeeping, Payroll & Audit SupportOversee bookkeeping activities to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.Manage payroll processing, Workers’ Compensation, and employee benefit programs in both Canada and the U.S.Coordinate and maintain relationships with independent auditors, consultants, and financial vendors.Support the contract management process for external consultants and service providers.2. Financial ReportingAssist with monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet statements for the Director of Operations.Complete and submit reports for government agencies in a timely and accurate manner.Assist with other ad hoc financial reports and analyses as required.Prepare and file GST returns.3. Production Reporting·      Takes responsibility for production reports, mill dues and label requirements based on product variation (will be trained on this task). 4. Additional DutiesPerform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations.Qualifications3+ years of progressive accounting experienceProficiency with QuickBooks Online, spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), and accounting best practicesStrong understanding of Canadian and U.S. payroll and tax regulationsExcellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skillsExperience working with non-profit or membership-based organizations is an assetStrong communication and interpersonal skillsWork Environment & SchedulePart-Time: 24 hours/week Tues-Friday, in-office. Please note: Only individuals selected for the interview will be contacted.
