Job Purpose:Assistant Manager is responsible for the execution and delivery of audit engagements, working with audit team on the scoping, planning and delivery of audit engagements, occasionally acting as audit lead. Delivery and execution of all engagements must adhere to audit methodology and standards and include formal sign-offs of key documents and processes within an audit file. Area of Responsibility1. Review and test internal controls implemented by Management and report to Senior Manager Internal Audit about the effectiveness or otherwise of the controls implemented.2. Plan and execute all audits as per the direction of the Senior Manager Internal Audit.3. Help prepare Internal Audit submission for the Audit Committee at periodic intervals.4. Update status of compliance to all audit recommendations ready for reporting to the MD & CEO and other stakeholders.5. Keep updated about any new regulations/ internal guidelines becoming effective, incorporating the same into existing checklists and reporting compliance on the same.6. Recommending process improvement measures and other best practices to optimise efficiency and minimize cost.7. To undertake projects and assignment from time to time as directed by Supervisor.8. Build and maintain constructive relationships with key stakeholders and auditees within their audit engagements.9. Execute and deliver aspects of audit engagements to the required methodology and Quality Assurance standards.10. Apply audit methodology to all work performed, seeking guidance as required.11. Discussion of potential findings and management action plans with key business stakeholders.12. Proactive issue follow-up with stakeholders.13. Develop an appreciation of risk and control more generally in banking.14. Work collaboratively with all Internal Audit colleagues globally.15. Travel across UK may be required. No. of Direct Reports: NILJob Requirements/ SpecificationQualificationsHigher education or equivalent industry experience.Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CFA etc.)/ Semi qualified may also be considered with relevant experience.Relevant industry qualifications e.g. CIA, ACT, CF, ICA are desirable but not essential.Work Area:BankingInternal Audit of various departments / FinanceWork ExperienceEssential:Experience of working in an Audit function within the Financial Services sector.Good understanding of Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk, Credit Risk or Operations gained in a major corporate/ banking firm.An understanding of the regulatory environment in the UK.Experience in compliance and regulations driven audit work conducted across corporate, structured and transaction banking business areas.Knowledge of how to use data analytics to drive continuous risk monitoring and perform audits.Preferred:Experience of working in a similar audit function for a major corporate/ bank or Big-4 firm.Experience in auditing corporate, structured or transaction banking key business areas with a good appreciation of the risks/ risk environment associated with such front office business areas.Experience of banking environments and applicable regulations across EMEA would be useful.Functional SkillsKnowledge of auditing methods and industry practices.An understanding of banking and financial services is required.Understanding of financial products, their risks and how they generate revenues.Good knowledge of controls required to mitigate risks.Good understanding of risk management and compliance matters.Personal RequirementsExcellent communication skillsResult driven, with a strong sense of accountabilityA proactive, motivated approachThe ability to operate with urgency and priorities work accordinglyStrong decision-making skills, the ability to demonstrate sound judgementA structured and logical approach to workStrong problem-solving skillsA creative and innovative approach to workExcellent interpersonal skillsThe ability to manage large workloads and tight deadlinesExcellent attention to detail and accuracyA calm approach, with the ability to perform well in a pressurized environmentStrong numerical skillsExcellent Microsoft Office skills
