Maker Lab's cross-functional teams of multidisciplinary specialists are embedded into client teams across digital marketing competencies — from measurement & analytics to content production.Finance Manager (12-month contract)Maker Lab is supporting our agency partner, Miroma Project Factory, in this role, and we are seeking a contractor to provide 12-month maternity cover for four days a week with three days working from the office. This would suit someone who needs shorter days or highly flexible hours. Commences in February 2026.Role: Financial OperationsOversee all financial operations locally, including but not limited to: Manage Accounts Receivable (c.30 invoices per month), including management of aged debtors and client set-up. Ensuring timely invoicing and cash collection. Management of Trade Creditors (c.20 invoices per month, with a weekly pay-run), including supplier set-up, processing supplier invoices and performing the credit card statement upload.Bank reconciliations and General Ledger reconciliations (including intercompany). Job Management/Accounting - creation, reconciliation and closure of job numbers.Cash Flow / Trade Working Capital Optimisation.Identify and manage financial risks, implementing appropriate controls and mitigation strategies.Drive cost reduction initiatives and improve operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with group policies, legislation, and accounting standards.Budgeting and ForecastingRevenue Forecasting. Working closely with the department heads and the CEO to keep a track of revenue forecasting on a regular (usually fortnightly) basisP&L. You will have full visibility of the profit and loss and will assist the CEO in building and submitting the annual budget and the quarterly reforecasts.Cashflow Forecast. Maintain and update the weekly cashflow forecast model. Monthly Reporting and AnalysisOversee the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of management accounts, including accurate accruals and deferrals of costs and revenue, applying a consistent, data-driven and compliant revenue recognition policy, payroll journal processing, Fixed Asset Register management, balance sheet account reconciliations, and revaluation of foreign currency accounts.  Review the bi-monthly payroll and monthly statutory lodgements prepared by the external accounting firm.Monthly board report preparation before FD review, including commentary on variances to budgets and forecasts.  Client Profitability Reporting/analysis using a standard methodology (including any related rate card analysis)Statutory Reporting and TaxationSupport external accountants in preparation of the annual financial statements, income tax return and fringe benefits tax return. Produce supporting workings and respond to information requests from external advisers.Manage year-end audit process, including provision of information and supporting workpapers and responding to queries from auditors.Ensure statutory obligations are met and lodgements are paid on time.Ad Hoc Assist the CEO with financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic initiatives and growth opportunities.Collaborate with all departments to provide a financial, data-led perspective on key business decisions and projects. Roll out improvements to systems, processes, templates, report visualisations and procedures to enhance reporting and efficiency. Seek to consistently evaluate and implement systems and tools to improve financial reporting and analysis capabilities. Enhance workflow and processes to increase efficiency and operating profit.Analyse financial data and prepare comprehensive financial reports for the CEO, board, and stakeholders, including UK stakeholders.You:Qualified accountant (CPA or CA or equivalent) Minimum five years of post-qualification Agency/commercial/business experience working in a fast-paced environment, preferably a multinational, where global/international stakeholder relationships and practices need to be recognisedExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise and develop relationships with all staff, teams, leaders, clients, suppliers and international colleagues.  The role requires active stakeholder engagement, requiring the ability to analyse and communicate financial information effectively.Demonstrate a strong commitment to process and business improvements by consistently identifying, evaluating, and implementing strategies to enhance operational efficiency and quality standards.Strong business commercial acumen to manage accounting requirements, advise on project financials, improve reporting and assist in tracking company KPIs.Ability to balance a friendly demeanour with a strong capability to set and meet deadlinesEmbraces and demonstrates inclusive behaviours, valuing diversity in all its forms.High-level technical expertise with an understanding and interest in digital solutions to improve efficiency Self-driven and highly motivated to build an integral role that expands as your capabilities grow, with a proactive, autonomous attitude Excellent time management and prioritisation skills with demonstrated problem-solving skillsContract Type: 12-month contractPlease note: due to the high volume of applications, only successful candidates will be contacted with a follow-up introduction email.  If you do not receive an email from Maker Lab, your application has been unsuccessful this time around.
