Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Malaysia?We OfferA traineeship of up to 6 months in 2026 within the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Malaysia, with a primary focus on press, communication and public diplomacy activities. The tentative start date is May 2026.The Political, Press and Information Section (PPI) is responsible for political analysis and reporting, relations with Malaysian interlocutors, coordination with EU Member States and organisation of public events. It also manages press and information activities, including media monitoring and public diplomacy initiatives.Main TasksMonitor local media for issues of importance to EU–Malaysia relations;Prepare daily and weekly media overviews and brief summaries;Support the organisation of the Delegation’s public diplomacy events and outreach activities;Contribute to the production of communication materials, including press releases, website content and social media posts;Attend and report from major political meetings, academic lectures and think-tank events;Provide support for incoming visits and public events.We Look ForQualifications or special requirements:Taking into account the local health and security conditions, applicants currently residing in Malaysia will only be considered.At least a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations or a related field;Excellent spoken and written English; knowledge of Malay is an advantage;Strong drafting and communication skills;Interest in media, public diplomacy and digital communication tools;Creativity, organisational skills and ability to work in a team.Candidates must have less than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing date of the traineeship agreement (other traineeships or student jobs or volunteering works carried out during university or after graduation are not considered as professional experience).How to apply?Candidates must apply to the e-mail address eeasjobs-172@eeas.europa.eu and send the following documents:A detailed standard Europass curriculum vitae (CV) https://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/ (CVs in other format will not be considered)a cover letter describing why you want to participate in a EU traineeshipand an application form (attached below)Malaysia_Application form funded traineeships_2026.docx Please mention in the subject of your e-mail: Funded Traineeship - PPIImportant information to read before applyingBefore applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin. Citizens From EU Member Statesmust provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
